No complaints over Mono's chops, there is some seriously good funk to be had here. Scary Pockets has shown me that the 'cake' is better than the sum of its ingredients. Listen back to the start of Scary Pockets thru till now and you'll understand how high the funk bar level got set. It's not about setting the bar higher 'cause god damn, it's already way up there. It's being able to stand toe to toe with that history and hold your own. That happened here and kudos to MonoNeon for that. In my personal opinion of course....
I’m sorry.. I’m going to argue that that was one of the hardest solos I’ve ever heard. Scofield opened a portal with that playing. It’s literally Insane🔥
The atmospheric sounds that Larry gets out of the B3 are just so refreshing! I'm usually a purist, but it's really nice to see something different than 888 with percussion on.
This was beyond excellent! All of you are absolutely superb musicians and you blend together seamlessly. But I gotta say - MonoNeon is the PERFECT choice for bass! I am following all of you guys but MonoNeon is just wonderful! This is gold! I can't stop listening to it!
I have a little tip for playing tamborine in a swing or shuffle groove. Tilt the play 30 degrees from horizontal and it swings quite well. It's just math. 😄
Scary Goldings is awesome. So much going on it's hard to keep track. The bass is always doing something interesting in the background under all the music out front.
Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. I think these songs deserve about 20 different video versions so we can watch each of these fine fine professionals express their craft. Each one is so super interesting to watch the single video just isn't enough!
This is such a PERFECT combination yall!!! Love this project to bits. It´s sad that the shipping costs and the added VAT of the vinyls to Germany are so high...
GREAT song, Thank to You all !!!. So nice to see Your big warm smile, John ! Now try to pronounce 'shiner', but the Dutch translation of the word : lichtpuntje ... hihi ( little bright light )
The=e better be an invitation to the Montreux Jazz Festival on the way. There are things going on that only serious musician audiences would catch onto.
Don't say it too loud but for Scary Goldings I like this drummer even more than Louis Cole. He's great but this Lemar's style fits these songs so well.
theres something about instrumentals , no voice but there deff felt like there was though , you could of thrown in a " salt peanuts salt peanuts " though if ya wanted , you guys are fucking awesome , i love this kind of stuff

Any chance of CDs???
I’m in 🤟🏼
Sco really cracked the code, never get tired of his playing. Plus, love that hes always playing with younger cats. Ryan doing the lords work ova here
Mono's fret hand is so unbelievably calm and understated, even during the moving parts.
That's one of the great things I love about his playing!
He has some REALLY long fingers. Timing and musically, yes. But he has LONG fingers! 😮
John didnt need to go that hard but he did for all of us
I think MonoNeon has really brought this band to a new level of funkivisity.
Amen!

That's true for literally any given situation he walks into.
john scofield playing is always incredible
With his eyes closed
Scof' is inimitable and stratospheric. Greatest living guitarist saying the most interesting and surprising things with his instrument.

All of these Scary Golding compositions are SO FUNKY!!! Love the stuff with Scofield too!
There is just one big problem with these songs... they are always too short.

The beginning of the song is obviously dedicated to the Weather Report, especially to Joe Zawinul. Very nice and respectful 🖖
Wow, great job by all, including the recording engineers, mixers, players, and songwriters. Soooo good.
Damn subtle. Ingenious geniuses.
2:54 MonoNeon holy f***

@@ScaryPockets any chance for South Florida? The Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton would be perfect! (they have a house Hammond, too!)
WOW!
The=e better be an invitation to the Montreux Jazz Festival on the way. There are things going on that only serious musician audiences would catch onto.
Haven't listened to this masterpiece yet !!! But already the mood has risen !!!! Thank you 🙏 😊
Nice! Sounds like a funky version of Killer Joe.

Don't say it too loud but for Scary Goldings I like this drummer even more than Louis Cole. He's great but this Lemar's style fits these songs so well.
I find that the groove of this funky tune is reminiscent of Weather Report.
