How to change your Lupo 3L transmission oils

- Short instructions how to change oils in Lupo 3L (type 085) gearbox. My recommendation for the oil is Redline MTL which seems to work fine.
- First check that you can get the filling plug open with that 17 mm wrench.
- Drain old oil out and see if there is metal or other dirt and clean the magnetic cap and close it
- Fill oil from filling plug until it starts to drain out and close the cap. There are some instructions how much oil you need to put but its safest to ovelflow the oil and be sure.
- Then add 2 dl (0.2 liters) extra from speed sensor plug hole shown in the video. you need 27mm and 21mm tools
085 gearbox is one of the weakest vw has ever produced so its wiser to have little extra lubrication if your gearbox starts to leak or its already little worn.
This might give you extra 100000km so its wise to change oils more frequently than change the gearbox every 100 thousand kilometers.

4683andy Problem is propably the reverse gear switch which is under the starter. it does not recognice the gear is in and tries to put it on multiple times. If you read the fault codes its wise to have the switch already bought as I have experience that it will not start to move before you change that switch.
how much extra do you reccomend , sorry i dont undestand the accent ....and dont you find any problems running 75w80 , i thought it should be 75w90?? thank you
first at all, great video, i was looking for it, but i've got one question, why fill more oil throught the gear sensor??
You get more oil to fifth gear which is badly engineered in this box lubrication wise. If you have correct oil level there is lubrication but if its lower than it should lubrication is highly compromised on that 5th gear. You can drill more holes to that gearbox to aid that lubrication without extra oil but that extra oil is easiest task.
I just bougth one used lupo 3l which 5th gear was totally gone and gearbox was jammed. Installed regular 085 gearbox fifth gear and it works. rpms are much higher about 2200 at 100 km/h but its a cheap fix if you dont want to buy a new or used 3l gearbox

Depends which box you have. Mine was 2.5l. There is also 2.7l models. Preasure builds up when overfill. But I used 1dl extra thought.
Is this possible with GB installed in the car?
Yes, filling hole it under starter motor. Extra filling from rpm sensor hole at the top
