Have all four beginner boxes for the fantasy flight star wars rpg. Love the system for star wars games. I feel that the system works perfectly for star wars like 2d20 system works perfectly for star trek. There is also three core rulebooks one for each of the settings Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny. I own all of them and well worth but I would suggest only getting the one you want to play in or run.

I am 57 and just started playing this game. We are close to finishing this beginner game and I must say, I love the entire thing. Narrative dice is a super way to play and we have a really cool Game Master who helps us understand everything. The dice reading is a bit hard to understand at the start but once you get that, you will know how your check turned out without relying on others to read the outcome. My first ever table RPG and I love it.

Edge of the empire, age of rebellion, and force and destiny are the 3 sets. All compatible with one another. There are various era, tech, and adventure supplements. It’s fairly simple rules. Lots of books.

Nice presentation of what is included in the box set. Thank you.

You will also need the Force and Destiny core rulebook if you want force users...
And also at least two sets of dice, three if you find a dedicated group as they will level up and need more dice.
The adventures you can download on their page are follow up of the beginner games and are kind of good.

"I don't plan on getting super deep into..." (Sounds of Sith laughter in background).
Nice overview! Of the starter sets I only have the Edge of the Empire set, but it is excellent. Have run it a couple of times for different groups - and it was an excellent adventure. I hear good things about Age of Rebellion also.

I know, famous last words. I wouldn't mind getting Edge of the Empire at some point. I'm less interested in set based on the new movies though.

Great video... Good to know what is in the box... I am such a starter box nerd myself...

Yes! So fun. I got all four starter sets, just for the dice. Lol. The Edge of the Empire is about adventures and life on the outer rim. Age of rebellion is about being in the rebellion of course. And Force and Destiny is for in-depth Jedi. All can be mixed and matched, depending on the campaign you want to run. Love this game. The dice mechanic is very fun. Gives a very Star Wars y feel to the game play. Lol

I picked up the Force and Destiny Beginner Gamen recently. I went with that one because I heard Edge of the Empire & Age of Rebellion versions didn't do Force-powered PCs. And I thought if I was going to play Star Wars, I need some Jedi or Sith in the mix.

LOVE the FFG Star Wars games. I'm almost done collecting all of the Force and Destiny books (just need the two adventure books) and then I'm switching to the Star Trek Adventures books. If you can, play the starter adventure for Age of Rebellion and tell us what you think!

Nice, quick look-see at what's in the box. But it presents the age old question, which is better: more info on leveling up the characters, or more characters? Obviously, they've opted for more info, and it looks like they did a thorough job of it. Be well and stay safe!

That’s a cool game, I’ve played at conventions.
My son has it but hasn’t run it yet
    Good unboxing

I’m kind of surprised that Wizards of the Coast doesn’t make the Star Wars RPG anymore since Hasbro has the rights to produce the toy line. I figured they’d have the rights to produce the RPG as well. Did you ever play the WotC Star Wars RPG? I played a few times with friends, but I’m not a huge Star Wars fan and it got old since everyone played a Jedi. This set looks pretty cool though. I’d give this a try if I ever got the opportunity.

I never did play the D20 Star Wars, but I had a friend that was a huge fan of it.
I'd love to give it a try, but the odds of that actually happening are slim.

Star Wars FFG Beginner Boxes are among the best and worst I have seen. Best in value for money, dice, maps, counters, character sheets and pdf support. Worst in that the boxes are so flimsy and fall apart quickly.

    • @DravenSwiftbow
      @DravenSwiftbow  3 роки тому

Yeah, the box is pretty thin, even flimsier than D&D 4E Boxes.

@@DravenSwiftbow It appears to be their common design. The Legend of Five Rings starter is just the same. Once again great VFM and bonus downloadable materials. I would say the starter set for Age of Rebellion is enough for you to get a feel of the game, I personally would try all 3 starter sets, I am not including The Force Awakens Starter, and see which style of game appeals to you most. The gritty, frontier scum and villainy of Edge of the Empire; The Rebellion bs Empire of AoR or the Force sensitives being hunted by the Empire/Sith or recovering lost teachings. Also buying all 3 games gives you 3 sets of dice which you will need.
If you shop around you can get lucky and pick up a starter box for around the same price as just a set of the dice. I managed to pick up a Force Awakens starter box for £10 in a sale, the dice sell for around £13-£15 here.

No. They shut down the RPG internal department developing new stuff (I think they are outsourcing some new stuff, but unsure). But the existing Star Wars RPG line remains in print.

I know I'm having a heck of a time finding a Force and Destiny Core Rulebook that's in stock even with online stores. Granted, I have the added difficulty of being Italy-based.

    • @jameshenderson4876

@@AxidentalDM For sure. But I was waitlisting at a FLGS in the UK and periodically things would reappear. I think - given the number of books in the range - things go OP and it takes a while for a reprint, or something similar.

    • @GratuaCuun

The FFG part that makes all the RPGs got shut down. Asmodee opened a new studio called Edge Studio which are handling all the RPGs now. So FFG are only going to focus on card and board games Atomic Mass Games are doing the miniature games and Edge has the RPGs. Also most of the staff from FFG who worked on the RPGs now work at Edge.
So the SWRPG books are hard to find because of the change over. The pandemic didn't help either.
Anyways just a little bit of info for ya. ;)
