Organics Studio Nitrogen is my favorite so far. I love that the color pops but it’s professional enough to be used at work. It’s gorgeous. And for journaling, definitely Apache Sunset. THE COLORS!!!
Platinum Carbon Black. If I could only have one ink (in a nightmare world) it would be Carbon black. I am a lefty and a sketcher, although I have and like Noodlers Black, it does not dry as fast or look as deep in tone as Carbon black. In a Carbon desk pen, I have never tried it in my other pens (yet). That also gives me the finest line for journal entries and inking sketches. Plus waterproof. Nitrogen is number two, closely followed by Organics Studio Walden. Those two have monster sheen even with fine nibs and cheap paper. I sampled Diamine Oxblood and thought it too dark so I bought a bottle of Diamine Red Dragon. By the time it came, I was in love with the darkness of Oxblood. Go figure! I can't justify buying another bottle that is close to the red I have, can I?
Anne Badgley Fellow lefty here. I like Organics Studios’ inks, but they gave me a lot of hard starts. I like Diamine’s iridescink series a little more. My black ink of choice is Noodler’s Heart of Darkness, which is a true black unlike Noodler’s black, which is more of a dark brown to me.
I was honestly thinking of loading up an Opus88 Omar with the Carbon Black. Right now it has Noodler's Black in it. The ink handles quite well in the EF nib.
i'm left handed to but don't know where to start to get the right supplies like where to get the right pen or right anything. Can you recommend anything for a new be?
I am right handed, but always manage to smear ink somehow. I'll have to try carbon black, if I find it for a good price. And no, I won't write on expensive paper, I go to school.
Diamine oxford blue is a must have, it's very very formal, yet adds character and intrigue to one's writing due to its midnight, blue-black look. It's as close to black as a blue ink can get, but will never be perceived as one due to its red sheen and visible blue tones.
I’m just getting into fountain pens and learning Spencerian. After watching your channel for the last two weeks-I can’t believe the rabbit hole I’m finding myself going down. I want all of these inks!
It's incredible how many comments this video has already! The fountain pen/ink community is wonderfully passionate and vocal about what they love :) I've purchased three inks and fifteen samples, but my favorite is Herbin's Parfum Violette. It smells amazing and the color is magical and vibrant. I'm considering buying Kyo Iro Moonlight of Higashiyama next, or maybe Herbin Rouille D'ancre. I have both in samples, and love them when I want a more muted, vintage feel.
Here’s 5 of my all-time favorites: 1. Rohrer and Klingner Cassia (the truest of true purples in my opinion). 2. Diamine Majestic Blue (deep, dark blue with a nice red sheen). 3. Noodler’s La Couleur Royale (awesome bluish purple). 4. Private Reserve Ebony Brown (always in my Custom 823!). 5. “Waterman” Tanzanite (equal parts Waterman Tender Purple & Serenity Blue), per Richard Binder’s advice on his website.
I first picked up a fountain pen some months ago and contemplated my choice of ink. I wanted something that was striking, bold and yet office friendly. In the end I picked up Diamine Oxblood. I will try other inks, for sure, but I'd like to give myself a pat on the back for choosing such a solid ink early on in such a delightful hobby.
Some of my favorites: Diamine Sherwood Green, Noodlers Red Black. Brown is difficult to render, I think. It's all to easy to create an ink that is flat, and dull. For a brown ink, I like Visconti Sepia; for purple, De Atramentis Aubergine, or Hamilton; for blue Diamine Oxford Blue or Sargasso Sea.
I just got my hands on one of your ink sample packages and I must say I’m in love with these amazing shading and sheening inks. It really makes handwriting stand out.
I agree about California Teal. My go-to ink for any new pen, great shading, and permanence is Noodler's Lexington Gray. It was the first bottle of ink I purchased, and I'll always need to have some on hand.
The first ink I ever bought was the Noodler’s Anti-Feather Blue, and I love it! It’s a gorgeous deep blue shade. Also recently got a sample of De Atramentis Jane Austen, which is an absolutely lovely green, somewhere between olive and forest, which I plan to get a whole bottle of
Instead of Noodler's Black, I'll take Platinum carbon black. I use it for ink drawing and it works great. (other than the need of more care when cleaning) Also, I'll take Sailor Seiboku as permenant blue black ink. Pilot / Namiki blue for everyday working. The rest is...well depends on how much fun I want.
Definitely agree about *Diamine Oxblood.* But can't agree that the ink most closely resembling dried human blood would be appropriate for an office setting. Love letters? Yes! But co-workers in an office setting might get the wrong impression if they see hand-written memos suspiciously looking like dried blood. *Sheaffer Red* if you want a rich vibrant red that most closely resembles fresh blood that hasn't dried. More appropriate for the office, and still great for romantic Love letters. (Especially if your special someone might get horrified at the thought you gave them a letter written in what they think is actual blood that has dried by the time it reached them.) *Noodler's Heart of Darkness* is an excellent black ink as well. And represents something truly important. Especially when paired up with Noodler's free Charlie pen.
I love Oxblood! Since I'm already "the weird guy with pens" in the office, I don't think using dried blood as ink has changed my image to the worse 8-) It's funny though if you have it on your fingers and your team mates silently start to look around if one of them is missing. Ah, just kidding!
I'm also using Oxblood in my daily office pen. But I pair it almost exclusively with ivory paper, not completely white. There's just something calming about that colour combination that doesn't disturb me when I'm looking back at my notes and thinking.
Being a lefty should not stop you from using a fountain pen. It's just as easy to underwrite as a lefty as it is for a righty. If you weren't taught, there are plenty of instructional videos. There have been hundreds of lefties who used dip pens and fountain pens beautifully, and with no smearing. Thomas Jefferson used a quill, which I've found is much harder to write with than a fountain pen, and his handwriting was stunning. When I was young, about the same time Thomas Jefferson was doing his thing, they taught lefties to write with a straight wrist, and the hand never came close to the ink. I don't know why that isn't taught now. But they don't even teach most kids who are righties the corrent way to hold a pen or pencil now.
@@jamesaritchie1 when I underwrite, my handwriting, which is normally beautiful, significantly suffers. However, I bought my first fountain pen (a Lamy Al-Star), and I find that if I significantly OVERwrite, I don’t have trouble at all. Now I’m fountain pen obsessed and have at least 20 pens listed in my wishlist. 😆
Very inspiring video. Have Noodlers Apache Sunset firm on my wishlist now. Added some of the blues too. My current “liquid writing love” is Akkerman Dutch Masters Van Huysums Sap Green. Beautiful shading wet ink in a very good visible professional looking light green. And then as a bonus you have this beautiful ink bottle.
Very solid list! Nicely done. My go-to blue is Monteverde Horizon Blue. It’s just a perfect intermediate true blue. I’m also a fan of the purple-tinged Pilot Iroshizuku asa-gao. And Diamine Eau du Nil is a lovely mysterious blue-green.
Agree with all of these. I have some of them but my favorite everyday ink has been Monteverde Jade Noir- a green so dark it looks black until you look closely. It’s stealthily unique which amuses me. Big shout out to Baystate Blue, too, which has become a favorite and regular writer for me in the month I’ve had it.
I'm still pretty new to the fountain pen world, and I ordered a lot of ink samples the other day from your site. One of my friends told me that Emerald of Chivor was popular, so I made sure to throw that one in. I'm looking forward to trying it.
I couldn't agree more on the Oxblood. Black swans are nice, but I think I prefer them in English roses. I'm also fond of J. Herbin's Lie de Thé and Diamine's Ancient Copper. At the moment I have Diamine's Sepia in the pen I've been using at work. It's a bit light for my taste, but it's growing on me.
*i have a few of these exquisitely beautiful inks and they truly are works of art in their own right... perfect additions to any designers kit for expressive texturing or the keeping of journals*
For me, if I only had one and it had to be it, I'm going with Noodler's 54th Massachusetts. Absolutely fantastic with all nib sizes, dries quickly in my experience, not too fancy in the way a workhorse ink should be and very easy to read. I love it's measured presence and reliability.
I really like Noodler's Black Eel - it's a well behaved ink and a lovely dark black. I also fell in love with 3 Oysters Delicious Purple-grey, which is a mellow, easy to read color, and Noodler's Air Corp Blue(GREEN!)-Black, such an unusual color.
My long term favorite is Herbin Poussiere de Lune. It's nice, a little different, but it won't piss off your bank. Diamine Writer's Blood is giving it a run for its money these days, and this year's Inkvent featured another in that vein called Seize the Night, which I really enjoy. I love shading, and Monteverde Fire Opal and Cherry Danish both go absolutely wild on that. But the Iroshizuku line wins on all ties in every color because the bottle is absolutely inspired and also I've never had any problems in any of my pens, no matter how fussy, from any of them.
Lamy Azurite really won me over. Great ink. Even though it's maddening, I still always have a pen inked up with Noodler's Baystate Blue. It's just a unique ink. Even though it's pricey, BunguBox's Piano Mahogany looks and works beautifully in every pen I've inked it with. Diamine Oxford Blue is my go to dark blue ink. It's rich with some red sheen. Love it. Krishna Jungle Volcano is another unique ink that should be in every collection. Krishna Causal is my favourite blue green ink. Robert Oster's River of Fire and Fire and Ice are no brainers for me. For a standard black ink, Aurora Black for me. There's lots of other great inks i love, but these are my must haves.
My additional favorites that I use a lot are: Noodler's Heart of Darkness Robert Oster Fire and Ice De Atramentis Johann Sebastian Bach (it's such a wonderful brown with just a hint of purple)
I quite like waterman inks. Especially the serenity blue, inspired blue. I love diamine oxblood. Montblanc irish green is also one of my favourites. I love lamy black and pilot black as well. Also i quite like the quink black.
Yes to Monteverdi's California Teal. My other favourites are Diamine's Autumn Oak, and Diamine's Red Dragon. Edelstein's Topaz. Rohrer and Klingner's Alt Goldgrun. Robert Oster's Sublime. Diamine's Safari. Platinum's Citrus Black, Sailor's Irori, and my favourite black is Kuretake's sumi ink. Also very fond of Rohrer and Klingner's Scabiosa, and Iroshizuku's Chiku-Rin.
*Lovely video, perfect voice for narration, and I LOVED the inky finger mark! Surprised Baystate Blue didn't make it. I like Noodler's Black but as U2 sings, I still haven't found what I'm looking for in a black that is so flat and dark and black that it sucks the light out of the room.*
Beautiful video, as usual!! If I was marooned on an island with my journal, my TWSBI Eco and only ONE ink of my choosing, it would definitely be my favorite of all time-Noodler's Golden Brown!!
This is great! I need to give Apache Sunset another chance, I was initially turned off by it because years ago I found it to be too light. And I hadn't considered the Monteverde California Teal before, but I think I want to check that one out too.
We fountain pen and ink lovers have definite opinions about our favorites! I am no different, although this list is all over the place. But the heart 💜 what the heart ❤️!! I prefer medium, broad and stub nibs. I like shading inks, not too particular about shimmering and sheening inks. My favorite inks include: - Diamine Red Dragon - Noodlers Black Swan in Australian Roses - Noodlers Apache Sunset - J. Herbin Vert Réséda and Rose Cyclamen - Caran d'Ache Delicate Green - Diamine Safari - KWZ Blue Hawaii - Mont Blanc Lavender Purple - Diamine SBRE Brown - Diamine Gris Nuage
Got my first bottle of Kon Peki with my Vanishing Point that shipped in from Goulet this morning. I'm absolutely in love. Other favorites for me are Diamine Oxblood and Iroshizuku Yama Budo
My go-to blue ink is Monteverde Horizon Blue. Lubricated like all Monteverde inks, very well-behaved on inexpensive paper, nice red sheen, and a very vibrant true blue.
My must have inks are : Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo, Noodlers 54 Massachusetts, Robet Oster Lake of fire, Robet Oster Fire and Ice, Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine, Diamine Red Dragon, Rohrer&Klingner Verdigris, Diamine Royal blue, Diamine Smoke on the Water, Diamine Skull & Rosses; Diamine Ancient Copper, Diamine Salamander, Diamine Denim, Diamine Imperial Blue; Rohrer&Klingner Alt Goldgrun, Rohrer&Klingner Lipziger Schwarz, Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu, Diamine Eclipse and Pelikan Edelstein Topaz
Love JH Emerald of Chivor and Noodler's Black, but Diamine Red Dragon knocks Oxblood out of the park. Noodler's 54th Massachusetts, Diamine Eclipse, De Atramentis Aubergine, Pilot Iro Ku-Jaku, and anything that's glittery but not pink are also high on my list.
One year later - some of my favorites (not necessarily in order, but grouped by color-tones): Orange / red / brown 1. Diamine Autumn Oak 2. KWZ Aztec Gold IGL 3. Diamine Ancient Copper Blue / black 4. Waterman Mysterious Blue 5. Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black 6. Noodler's Heart of Darkness 7. Pilot Namiki Blue Green 8. Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün 9. Akkerman #28 Hofkwartier Groen 10. Robert Oster Velvet Storm Purple 11. Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa
I love Kon-Peki and Apache Sunset. For teal, I love Iroshizuku Ku Jaku and Private Reserve Blue Suede, but now that I see the sheen on California Teal, I'm in! Lastly, Black Swan in English Roses also deserves some love especially if, like me, you like something that leans more burgundy. Thanks for the great review!
My all time favorite is Sailior Shikiori Yonaga. But Iroshizuku Shin Kai and KWZ Azure #4 tie for second. I had a bottle of Diamine Oxblood and loved it but I just never ended up using anything but blue inks. I also agree Apache Sunset has remarkable qualities, unfortunately lubrication isn’t one of them. I found out too dry to use. Great colour though. So I sold my bottle. I sold everything that wasn’t one of the three blue inks mentioned above about three years ago.
I don't have extensive ink experience, but the are my go to inks - Rohrer und Klingner Leipziger Schwarz Alt Bordeaux, & Altgold Grün. Diamine Eclipse, Twilight, Oxford blue, & Oxblood.
Even though is a little hard to clean, Diamine Registars Ink is amazing. The change of color makes it interesting, is waterproof and works well on ordinary paper.
Haven''t found a color that has spoken out to me yet but the Pilot Iro shizuku line is fantastic. I tried a few shimmering colors but I only use them for special occasions. I want to try one of the Diamine's bottles but now sure where to begin. Also i saw something on Ferris Wheel Press Ink but i have yet to find any reviews aside from one person so I am not to sure about trying them. I know this video is over a year old but I just got into fountain pens right before the quarantine, I'm just looking for new inks to try now.
Probably going to get some heat for this but Bay State Blue is a must. So is pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki, Take-Sumi, and Shin-Kai. Also J. Herbin Lie de Thé.
Colorverse Gravity Wave & Caran d'Ache Chromatics Ultraviolett are my daily inks, right now. I change the ink with every new notebook - last two were G.v.Faber-Castell Olive Green and Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai.
My go-to remains the cheap Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black. As for my favorite right now, that would be the versatile Montblanc Midnight Blue - what an awesome blue-black! I do also love Noodler's Habanero more than Apache Sunset - more saturation with the same (or better) shading. Now I'm off to try some sheening inks, your suggestion of OS Nitrogen and JH Emeraude de Chivor seem very promising! Great video!
Baystate Blue has become a favorite of mine in the last month, too. I was almost scared away from it by all the bad press it’s gotten. Glad I didn’t listen to the naysayers and tried it for myself.
I don't have ten inks... (Yet...) But I love Lamy Turquoise as well as Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black for its ease of cleaning and clear black text. Very standard and easy.
These 10 inks are now available in an ink sample package set for you try them all: www.gouletpens.com/products/must-have-inks-sample-set - Colin

Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün and Helianthus
I've gotten Lamy's Azurite a few days ago and love it, definitely a new favorite.
Totally agree on Alt-Goldgrün.
Diamine blue velvet. I am inlove with that blue my go to blue ink used for my pelikans
Black Swan in Australian Roses is my all time fave!!
Yes. A good one.
The name alone is gorgeous, never mind the colour!
I agree! The name is gorgeous and the ink always looks great.
Don't sleep on the Diamine Syrah - I just got it a couple of days ago and it is stunning!
I LOVE Diamine Red Dragon!!! My favorite and I write with it every day in my journal with my TWSBI pink pen.
Yes, a great alternative to Oxblood. I know Brian is partial to Red Dragon as well. - Colin
i’m just getting into fountain pens, but i was browsing your site and absolutely fell in love with the diamine oxblood ink!
I‘ve been enjoying Pelikan Edelstein Topaz as my main writing ink for over a year now. Used with my beloved Muji MoMa fountain pen.
Loving the Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-Iro ink in sky blue. Very refreshing!
Me too, with a bold nib!
(other than the need of more care when cleaning)
Also, I'll take Sailor Seiboku as permenant blue black ink.
Pilot / Namiki blue for everyday working.
The rest is...well depends on how much fun I want.
Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki Shikibu is my favourite one... but I really feel like trying some of the ones you shared here. Thanks for this tour!
(Especially if your special someone might get horrified at the thought you gave them a letter written in what they think is actual blood that has dried by the time it reached them.)
*Noodler's Heart of Darkness* is an excellent black ink as well. And represents something truly important. Especially when paired up with Noodler's free Charlie pen.
I love Oxblood! Since I'm already "the weird guy with pens" in the office, I don't think using dried blood as ink has changed my image to the worse 8-)
It's funny though if you have it on your fingers and your team mates silently start to look around if one of them is missing. Ah, just kidding!
i love diamine blood dragon , beautiful red, not so bloody :)
I'm also using Oxblood in my daily office pen. But I pair it almost exclusively with ivory paper, not completely white. There's just something calming about that colour combination that doesn't disturb me when I'm looking back at my notes and thinking.
NGMonocrom this is the reason I favored the Lamy Ruby red, especially if working at a clinical setting 😁😁😁
I keep it in my shark pen, so It suppose to look like dried blood:)
My personal favorite is diamines autumn oak but these are beautyfull as wel!
This was so satisfying. I never really got into fountain pens because I’m a lefty and always had trouble, but I’m thinking I wanna try it again.
I love the Diamine Inks’ Aurora Borealis! And Robert Oster’s Caffé Crema!
Love how you use the glass pen
Very inspiring video. Have Noodlers Apache Sunset firm on my wishlist now. Added some of the blues too. My current “liquid writing love” is Akkerman Dutch Masters Van Huysums Sap Green. Beautiful shading wet ink in a very good visible professional looking light green. And then as a bonus you have this beautiful ink bottle.
Wow, I definitely need to buy more ink! I only have one of these! I'd also recommend Diamine Asa Blue or Earl Grey and Platinum Blue-Black.
Great additions. Earl Grey is my go-to grey ink with the purple tint it has. - Colin
Asa blue is one of my favourites! Lovely colour and also sheens under the right conditions
My very first bottle of ink was the Black Swan in Australian Roses and it still blows me away.
Tough there is a lot of ink to choose from, I still Love the Wterman Serenity Blue. Shines out from the rest in a beautifulshade. I love it!
All great colors! I was really trying to push Horizon Blue in the list, but was afraid of 'too much blue' backlash. - Colin
Diamine Imperial Purple and Earl Grey are my two favorites, and I also LOVE how Pilot Iroshizuku take-sumi writes very wet. :D
My god, these colours are so beautiful! We've been missing out on a lot since using ball-point pens. I need to get back to writing with fountain pens.
Good choices! One may have different champion inks, but these, as a set, cover a lot. Thank you.
I know we can't add them all, but some classics that are must include Diamine Ancient Copper and J Herbin Lie de Thé.
Fair point, may need a '10 More Must-Have' inks because leaving off Ancient Copper was tough! - Colin
Lie de The is gorgeous.
Ancient Copper was my pick from Diamine as well.
Lie de Thé was my first ink! Never thought I would love a brown ink so much.
One of the best Noodler's inks for sure! Almost included it. - Colin
Bay State Blue for the win. Has yet to give me any problems, though just to be safe I have dedicated a couple of cheap pens to it.
Great to know krishna inks is internationally popular
My additional favorites that I use a lot are:
Noodler's Heart of Darkness
Robert Oster Fire and Ice
De Atramentis Johann Sebastian Bach (it's such a wonderful brown with just a hint of purple)
I have heart of Darkness on my list, it seems to be a favorite.
Sydney H Bach was my first ever full bottle purchase - love to see it getting some love, it's a great ink!
@@melrohner I got it as a sample first and loved it, so I bought a bottle.
Can confirm, Heart of Darkness is amazing. I bought the 4.5oz.
I quite like waterman inks. Especially the serenity blue, inspired blue. I love diamine oxblood. Montblanc irish green is also one of my favourites. I love lamy black and pilot black as well. Also i quite like the quink black.
With a name like "Serenity Blue" how can you go wrong!
Yes to Monteverdi's California Teal. My other favourites are Diamine's Autumn Oak, and Diamine's Red Dragon. Edelstein's Topaz. Rohrer and Klingner's Alt Goldgrun. Robert Oster's Sublime. Diamine's Safari. Platinum's Citrus Black, Sailor's Irori, and my favourite black is Kuretake's sumi ink. Also very fond of Rohrer and Klingner's Scabiosa, and Iroshizuku's Chiku-Rin.
Still keeping it fresh, I see, Goulet family. This was a relaxing, mesmerizing video indeed. Once again, awesome job!
Have you tried the Noodler's Heart of Darkness? It's my favorite, black ink!
@@Nayomee1213 No, but I will! thanks!!!
Well, my two go to inks are the parker blue black quink, and the iroshizuku yama budo. I really like the shading in both of those
This review truly was a feast for the eyes. Very lovely indeed.
So how do they perform in a fountain pen? No fountain pen in sight in the video. Do they clog? How fast do they dry? Do they fade?
Beautiful video, as usual!! If I was marooned on an island with my journal, my TWSBI Eco and only ONE ink of my choosing, it would definitely be my favorite of all time-Noodler's Golden Brown!!
Such an amazing shader as well! - Colin
got allready one: Diamine Oxblood, the Colorverse Quasar will be my next blue when my Royal blue is finished.
This is great! I need to give Apache Sunset another chance, I was initially turned off by it because years ago I found it to be too light. And I hadn't considered the Monteverde California Teal before, but I think I want to check that one out too.
I was disappointed with Apache Sunset, but I was using an extra-fine nib. I think a medium nib or higher shows off Apache Sunset.
Yeah, like Cora said, the broader the nib, the better for Apache Sunset! Used it in my Soft-Broad Pilot Falcon and it was amazing. - Colin
I'm disappointed with Apache Sunset because it needs extremly long to dry on Tomoe River
We fountain pen and ink lovers have definite opinions about our favorites!
I am no different, although this list is all over the place. But the heart 💜 what the heart ❤️!!
I prefer medium, broad and stub nibs. I like shading inks, not too particular about shimmering and sheening inks.
My favorite inks include:
- Diamine Red Dragon
- Noodlers Black Swan in Australian Roses
- Noodlers Apache Sunset
- J. Herbin Vert Réséda and Rose Cyclamen
- Caran d'Ache Delicate Green
- Diamine Safari
- KWZ Blue Hawaii
- Mont Blanc Lavender Purple
- Diamine SBRE Brown
- Diamine Gris Nuage
Funny, I like Gris Nuage as well, only the one made by J. Herbin. EXTREMELY pale.
Von Graf Faber Castell Moss Green!
Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo and Asa-gao are really nice blues too!
Rare to hear Graf von Faber-Castell, and Moss Green is one of their best. I use Burned Orange myself.
Got my first bottle of Kon Peki with my Vanishing Point that shipped in from Goulet this morning. I'm absolutely in love. Other favorites for me are Diamine Oxblood and Iroshizuku Yama Budo
Apache Sunset feels like I am writing with flames. A beautiful ink! Noodler's Ink has so many good choices.
Noodler's General of the Armies is always a go to for me.
Great video! California Teal is my current favorite. I’m still looking for the perfect blue. Thanks for the suggestions.
I like Noodlers Bay State blue
Try Edelstein's Topaz.
I just bought this sample set fro y’all. I love the N and swan in Australian roses.
As usual, Goulet is 100% right on with these choices. Each one is epic. But I like Dragon Red better than Oxblood. Whatever.
That was my first thought too 😂
Brian Goulet agrees with you! Dragon Red is in his top 5 Diamine Inks video.
I love the Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-Iro
My go-to blue ink is Monteverde Horizon Blue. Lubricated like all Monteverde inks, very well-behaved on inexpensive paper, nice red sheen, and a very vibrant true blue.
I've recently fallen in love with Diamine Oxford Blue. It's a nice and dark blue, that has a bit of red sheen on the right paper.
Solid ink ! Oxford Blue is my go to "royal blue".
My must have inks are : Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo, Noodlers 54 Massachusetts, Robet Oster Lake of fire, Robet Oster Fire and Ice, Pelikan Edelstein Aquamarine, Diamine Red Dragon, Rohrer&Klingner Verdigris, Diamine Royal blue, Diamine Smoke on the Water, Diamine Skull & Rosses; Diamine Ancient Copper, Diamine Salamander, Diamine Denim, Diamine Imperial Blue; Rohrer&Klingner Alt Goldgrun, Rohrer&Klingner Lipziger Schwarz, Pilot Iroshizuku Murasaki-shikibu, Diamine Eclipse and Pelikan Edelstein Topaz
Love JH Emerald of Chivor and Noodler's Black, but Diamine Red Dragon knocks Oxblood out of the park. Noodler's 54th Massachusetts, Diamine Eclipse, De Atramentis Aubergine, Pilot Iro Ku-Jaku, and anything that's glittery but not pink are also high on my list.
So far I like De Atramentis purple violet and Noodler's Navajo Turquoise. I would like to try Noodler's Apache Sunset.
One year later - some of my favorites (not necessarily in order, but grouped by color-tones):
Orange / red / brown
1. Diamine Autumn Oak
2. KWZ Aztec Gold IGL
3. Diamine Ancient Copper
Blue / black
4. Waterman Mysterious Blue
5. Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black
6. Noodler's Heart of Darkness
7. Pilot Namiki Blue
Green
8. Rohrer & Klingner Alt-Goldgrün
9. Akkerman #28 Hofkwartier Groen
10. Robert Oster Velvet Storm
Purple
All the sailor ink studio dual shading inks are must haves
Right now my favorite ink is Colorverse Stars and Stripes- awesome sheen and shimmer combo
Noodlers Midnight Blue! There's practically no press on this spectacular dark blue.
Even though is a little hard to clean, Diamine Registars Ink is amazing. The change of color makes it interesting, is waterproof and works well on ordinary paper.
Diamine Eclipse is a fave. It's a beautiful black purple.
My three favorite inks are J. Herbin's Emerald of Chivor, Liberty's Elysium, and Noodler's Heart of Darkness.
Ooh, those are all great choices! -Margaret
Love BSB!
My favourite green is the Krishna poyka, but it can be very hard to come by. I would so love if they could sell larger bottles!
Oxblood is my favorite red out of your entire shop. My other absolute favorite, that's a controversial ink, is Noodler's Baystate Blue
Baystate Blue has become a favorite of mine in the last month, too. I was almost scared away from it by all the bad press it’s gotten. Glad I didn’t listen to the naysayers and tried it for myself.
@@ViolinChick5 people dont read the directions from Noodler, otherwise they wouldn't have problems with it
Baystate is my go to ink at work. I swear this 4.5oz bottle is lasting forever lol
One of my favorite red inks is Diamine Red Dragon.
I don't have ten inks... (Yet...) But I love Lamy Turquoise as well as Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black for its ease of cleaning and clear black text. Very standard and easy.
