    As someone with ADHD and a strong interest in history, this video was absolutely perfect, as it feeds into my hyperfocus. I can completely understand someone without this hyperfocus will get exhausted watching this though, like you guys did. :)

    This video by Bill Wurtz shouldn't be seen as a parody. It's a legendary video. I can tell there was a lot of effort put into making this. It has so many people react to it ever since it was released. It has a lot of key moments in history. The longer the chime/jingle takes place in this video, the longer that moments last in history, or has more significance.
    Tips to make it not feel like a torture, you are supposed to pause to see the details, process each details, and watch it slowly. You can't just watch it in one sitting without pausing because that will be exhausting.
    25:25 The guy said he will never do this again. This is ironic to me because I have watched this video for more than 50 times with different reactors. I never grew tired of it because I want to see the reaction of other people to this incredible video.

      The sheer amount of work and research Bill Wurtz put into this discounts any kind of "parody" tag for sure. Is it 1000% accurate? Nah. Does it mention everything? Obviously not. But for the broad strokes in regards to era specific global superpowers? Super accurate.
      I have watched damn near every reaction video of this out there, I can, at this point recite the video alongside it. Can't remember verbatim otherwise, but I know every word otherwise.
      I also love that, despite how much work he put in, this whole endeavor started on basically a whim with Japan, then he was like, "let's do the States next" stalled out and was like "nah, let's do the WORLD instead"

    "Maybe I'm too OLD..."
    => Dude, you're not :D
    "I thought this is gonna be an educational thing"
    => Dude, sometimes, just not talking is the best option. :D Just wait and see.
    "If you have epilepsy, can you watch this?"
    => Dude, I've had epilepsy for fifteen years, and I must have watched this video at least fifteen times. What did I say about talking? :D
    It didn't seem to be your thing anyway. You really have to like history to enjoy such a video (especially the details). But you were right about dopamine.

      I'm 3 1/2 minutes into this video, and your comment should win awards. Calling this a parody is a clear indication that someone has no idea what the word parody means. Damn... I'm about to be 44, I don't have ADHD, and no part of this video has ever felt even slightly overwhelming. Modern society is depressing sometimes.

    Best way to interpret this vid - its a whole series of historical bullet points.
    Showed this to my g-daughter when she was a pre-rebellious 13 yr old - she invited friends to watch repeat showings, with many many questions for me to help guide them through to research the stuff they wanted to know for themselves (I'm not one to spoon feed people lol).
    She's 20 now, and she and her friends still visit every few months to pin down other points in the vid to get pointers from me how to research detailed info. Best investment of 20 mins I can imagine *big grin*

    Imagine a world where we don't get ADs, but knowledge in snippets. Humanity would be way smarter and well informed.
    Naturally this video can't talk about everything, and those it mentions are 1 second per event.... but what i like it gives a world history, not only Western one.
    Gives an overall view of everything.

    I'd just like everyone to reflect on this statement. It's true, I fully endorse it, but... what does this say about us as human beings?
    "...what did you learn..."
    Nothing... but not because I knew it, only because I can't retain it. It really messes with my sense of time, though, as history tends to do.

    I dunno why people hate on Gen Z for their attention spans, its not like they designed the systems that directly caused the short attention span issue. Its 100% not their fault, children lack self control, this has been known for thousands of years. When parents give them access to video games, social media, internet, etc, without limit or self control, it ends badly. Same goes for just about anything, moderation and variety is key to good physical and mental health. As a 42 y/o I see Gen Z as the victims of the times. Perhaps when gen z grows up, they will actually do something about the rampant toxicity that is the current version of the internet.

    I think viewers would be able to follow the stories if they already had knowledge about topics the video was talking about - It's for sure not a video "how to learn history for newbies" 😁🙏

    • @chrisharris1522
      @chrisharris1522 5 місяців тому +4

      What it does is puts it all in order, if you knew most of this already it isn't hard to follow. However I can see how it would be a little overwhelming if the only history you had been taught in school was the last couple of hundred years selectively edited about just one of the countries mentioned.
