I am thinking about getting either a mandolin or mandola. This would be for a worship band at church. Typical modern worship music. Was thinking that a mandola might be better and not be quite as harsh and may fit better. Any thoughts? BTW I play guitar now.

May I suggest an octave mandolin? Similar size to a guitar and has a less bright sound than regular mandolin. Still has the magic sound of the mandolin family, though.
