Great talk! getting stuck is powerful advice! There is a course called Creativity Innovation and Change and another called Creative for Problem Solving. They are both hands-on courses on creativity even though they do not seem to be based on design thinking principles.

Indeed, extremely good talk, it's nice to see a well thought out overview of the flow of the process, sometimes us designers do it without thinking, without breaking it all down as you have. Fun stuff.

The comparison to needing to be an expert at jazz was helpful. Thanks!

Design thinking is not about thinking outside of the box, that's a business cliche. Design thinking is about ignoring that there is a box. Not the same at all. Some people are naturally creative, some are not. You can 'mimic' creative processes by performing exercises, but for a non creative they will never be as affective as a creative person doing the same exercise. You either are or you aren't.
