    That Nash turned out great, another 30's work of art inside and out with that incredible Nash streamlining, beautiful green and fine interior furnishings especially the leatherette used throughout . First and second pick 1934 Nash Advanced Eight and 1934 Graham Great Eight.

      I am astounded by the quality of Design and Construction. WHO designed it.? Name and background. True works of art. Chevvy's top '34 designers were (WHO?) first rate but amateurs compared to this guy. This is the car (the MAROON ONE) that is driven in the Heaven I wanna go to. (age 94....soon.)

  • @automatedelectronics6062
    @automatedelectronics6062 Місяць тому +2

    When road vehicles had twin spark plugs and eventhough there is a single distributor, it is considered two separate ignition systems, noted by the 2 ignition coils. Possibly there is a switch somewhere, should on the dash, maybe the ignition switch itself with 3 positions(ign.1-off-ign.2). The purpose of a dual ignition system is if one starts acting up, you could switch to the other ignition system. If it has 2 sets of points, the systems are independent.
    I don't know if Nash had acquired the term 'Nash-can' back then but this is a cool car and I wouldn't if it were mine. That Graham is still one heck of a car.

    Nice car in gorgeous condition. The pin striping on the wheels is cool. I'm not crazy about the beads on the hood and even though the fender skirts are nicely done they make the car look like it is squatting down. I'm surprised at how nice the interior is. The radio is awesome and the engine looks cool. The WYR is hard because although I love the Airflow I would choose the 1934 Graham Great Eight Supercharged and the 1934 Hudson Eight.

    The song is "Just My Style", Gary Lewis (Jerry Lewis's Son) and The Playboys, 1965.
    That Nash is EXQUISITE... Isn't it amazing, how "high quality" that things were built years ago?
    I've had the distinct honor of riding in both a J and an SJ Deusenberg... Both were phenomenal and VERY "mechanical"... They make incredible music.
    But I've never had the pleasure or opportunity to ride in, or drive a Nash of this era... I wonder how they perform?
    Having 2 plugs per cylinder had to have had a lot to do with the "Duesenberg" nickname.
    As always, GREAT REVIEW and a fun watch!
    Cheers

    Wow Jay! Two VERY slick coupes in a row! This one is a looker, too! The Nash Advanced Eight seems like a really cool engineering piece, but maybe it was TOO complicated(?) LOTS of spark plugs to replace, and I would bet there are two sets of points, too with the dual coils. A BEAUTIFUL car, nonetheless. WYR #1 Graham Supercharger! #2 Reo with the self-shifter!!

    I had a conversation with a person and we were discussing the car brands He was the CEO of several companies and he made the statement that Nash did not have strong brand loyalty A Nash buyer moved from brand to brand and Nash changed who they were too many times. For example Ford always knew who they were as well as Buick He and I had many hours of conversation on the brand position of automobiles

It’s going to be super hard to tell in the future. I don’t understand why anybody would want that technology

  • @captaccordion

    That's a great looking car and a very nice restoration. Now, I noticed something very unusual in the brochure, early in the video. This car has a worm drive in the rear axle. I'm not aware of a single other American car doing so, though the French were big on it. It's a way of achieving a lower car with smaller transmission tunnel, prior to the development of hypoid drive. I don't know why Hotchkiss drive got a mention - that just means a front engine sending power to the rear axle via a tailshaft. Cheers.

    • @What.its.like.
      @What.its.like.  Місяць тому

      There are actually a bunch of cars for future worm drive. I'm pretty sure the model A has it I can't think of other cars other than the model T off the top of my head

    • @captaccordion

      @@What.its.like. Nah, Ford T and A didn't use it. I'm only aware of Peugeot and Renault using it in the 50's and 60's. The catalogue pic of it is bang in the middle of the screen at 2.51 in the video. Have a gander. You'll see how it allows for a lower driveshaft and thus less hump in the floor.

    3:58: The text says that it has a "coincidental starter". Never heard that term. Is it a coincidence if it starts? Funny, but I never thought of Nash as anything but a boring econo car maker. That Nash is not only beautiful, but luxurious and mechanically advanced as well. Lots of stuff I didn't know in here! WYR= wow, tough ones. I think that the Airflow would be my first choice, and any of the others would be just fine. Cool how much more modern the Airflow looks, yet it was considered ugly in its day. I think Nash could have done better with naming this car line- no way could "That's Advanced" match the phrase "That's a doozy" 🤣They pulled out all the stops with this one, lacking only a built-in Butler.
    I know Jay wants Airflow votes but I gotta be honest. As nice and stately as this Nash is, the Graham has sleeker body lines and a supercharger to brag about. Round two goes to this Nash.

      Awesome insight yeah I want an airflow, but I don’t know it would be really hard to pick it over these. I want to 37 airflow because by then all of the issues were resolved with the engines falling out of those cars 36 airflows are nice as well…
      I’m on the grand blue streak kick I think it would be really cool if I could find one of those really cheap and take it to Greenfield Village next year and give rides. I think that would be awesome but they’re so hard to find.

    Many of the "Auto" channels with computer generated voices are so filled with errors and mistakes that they are useless as sources of information. They talk about six cylinder engines while they show pictures of V-8 engines. They talk about cars from 1976 while they show cars from 1967, etc. You have only made a couple of mistakes since I subscribed to your channel, and you caught both mistakes yourself. That is all anyone can expect.

    WYR1: The Graham looks cleaner and would be my first choice of the models offered. The Nash has a sort of gild-the-lily look, and the Chrysler is interesting in a _what were they thinking?_ kind of way
    I believe this was also the first year for the Studebaker Land Cruiser sedans in the Dictator and President lines, certainly worth consideration.
    WYR2: Again, Hudson and REO have a cleaner overall appearance, again I would also consider the Land Cruiser, maybe a two-year-old Packard Light Eight.
