One thing I do, even in a 320sf studio apartment, is to always grab things that belong elsewhere in the apartment whenever I move from one space to another. I have 'transition spots' mapped out adjacent to where I sit, spend time, or enter/exit the room/apartment; I leave those out-of-place items there to take along as I cross my home. I'm in my 70s and have mobility/energy issues, so this is a strategy that has had a positive impact on my living space. Also, I keep a trash bag in every spot I tend to spend time (sofa-bed, kitchen, bathroom); every few days when the bag fills, I drop it by the entry door, and at a convenient time I take it to the trash chute. I do work at filling the bag with any trash within reach. Set up a nightly 'shut-down' routine: -Put dishes in to soak in the sink (or in the dishwasher, if you have one) -Grab a basket or bin (to collect items out of place) and a trash bag (to collect trash) -Clear and damp-wipe/dust all surfaces -Toss Trash/bag into trash and put away items collected in the basket/bin -Pack or set items to go out near exit -(Run dishwasher, if you have one) -Get ready for bed -Next morning, after breakfast and before starting your day, put away dry dishes and wash dirty ones to air dry (also, clean the sink) It's really pleasant to wake up to a tidied home. And leaving a clean kitchen after breakfast provides a sense of accomplishment that boosts your day.
Hey! I love how similar our nightly routines are haha! I also love having a clean kitchen first thing in the morning before it starts to slowly become a mess again. But this is exactly how organisation should be- create a routine in your home that makes it easy for you to keep up with the 'tidiness' and organisation of it all, as best as you can :). Thanks for watching :)
