I have been sewing for 40+ years and learned so much from this video. Good thing for youtube so we can all learn one another's tips and tricks. I love it. Thank you very much for sharing.

Just realised, if you use a sheet of freezer paper for each fabric, to draw out the pattern pieces and fuse the whole sheet to the top of the fabric on the interfacing that’s just one step, you can then just cut out all the pieces in a second step then simply peel off the freezer paper! Pattern’s only traced and cut once so more accurate! Basically the same method as when you use fusible web with applique! What a time saver!

Alternative method: Use fusible that has paper backing, press to a piece of fabric large enough to accommodate all your pattern pieces. Now cut out your pieces, peel off backing and you have 'patches' ready to go.

I use baking paper, cheap and if I lose it another roll in the pantry! Cheap, cheerful and it works!

Is this the baking paper also known as 'parchment' paper?

Yes! NOT waxed paper...Although, I have tried both parchment and the silicon press sheet and the silicon comes in first. No fusible web sticks to it and it is thicker thus less likely to wrinkle under your pressing - especially when using steam.

fantastic idea, thank you...do you have any tips on removing sticky interfacing from the iron plate? mine is atrocious!

+Deb Mclennan I found a fantastic solution on youtube. Have your iron on medium/hot and have a damp cloth ready. Take a paracetamol tablet - it must be the caplet type kind of oval/bullet shape. Rub the caplet on the sticky bits on the iron plate and they kind of bubble up and melt away! Follow by wiping with the damp cloth. I know this sounds weird, but it really works. The only problem is the iron is quite hot so watch you don't get burnt.

+EuphemiaGrubb thank you. I just searched google and also found that a toothbrush and white cleaning vinegar scrubbed on works a treat too. just did it and it worked well. I will keep your idea in mind too. thank you.

Use fusible webbing with paper backing. It's much easier!
