This was a fun fight to watch. The Marines probably could have won with some tank support from a couple Scorpions. You can't really take out heavy armor without some of your own.
I've downloaded this map myself and even without Scorpion support, the Marines win the majority of battles without much support. They're absolute beasts in this map compared to Campaign.

We basically see regular marines beating Brutes in 1v1s. No wonder the Covenant lost the war.
In lore, ground battles were usually fairly even.
Which means, somehow, that Brutes vs. Marines is a 50/50 matchuo
@@DatDude0925 actually in lore the Marines would win engagements on more or less even footing, it was only when significantly overwhelmed they would lose. Its actually why the Covenant started glassing planets

We all did and the sad thing is that infinite pulled a lot of punches
There is so much potential for the open world, its a shame 343 felt the need to make it just a large room. Imagine walking to your next objective and a scarab drops down from space to stop you
@@ethanmckernan2773 Also remember it's meant to last 10 years. 343 should be able to easily add the scarab and that spawn feature later. The 10 year thing is probably why it launched with a lack of content

@@sleeplesshollow4216 yeah but in the lore they had scorpions and airsupport, not to mention the "marines" u see here are only carrying assault rifles. what part of this is lore-wise? the UNSC used everything in its arsenal. and if we're talking lorewise, no retarded UNSC command would send a bung of marines with warthogs against a fucking scarab in the open and expect them to win lmao XD
@@_spooT Yeah.. but that's exactly how the UNSC did do things, especially this late in the war. They were desperate and running low on supplies. Just like during The Storm we sent a bunch of Mongooses with Marines and Rockets against Choppers, Ghosts and the Scarab.
@@wailinginanger3521 You give UNSC command a lot less credit than they deserve, The Storm had a lot more going on than just what the player saw, and even then air support was provided via Hornets and Frigates. The initial part of the mission was to clear AA positions so the Hornets and Frigates could progress, and by the time the Scarab showed up by surprise, the UNSC already had air superiority. It was tactically sound realistically, very far from sending a couple of lightly armed squads and a handful of LRV hogs into an open desert against the entirety of the Covenant ground forces.
Humanity had an equal if not superior footing to the Covenant when it came to ground wars, but the Covenant had better capital ships and glassing was responsible for the majority of UNSC casualties
@@chrisv9866 Well I'd hope the Covenant was responsible for a majority of the UNSC casualties. The point I was getting at though is this late in the war, even battling to defend Earth. Humanity was desperate, I'm not saying they didn't fight courageously or didn't give it their all. But the only reason humanity won was because of the Elite-Human alliance that crushed the Covenant at it's core. Sending in hundreds of people to die in a suicide mission just to buy time for a few more weeks was something the UNSC certainly did do.

I love seeing the hogs mow down brutes and jackals and seeing the Marines dash straight for the AA, they had a mission and they were going to do it or die trying.

The AI in Halo 3 is actually amazing. NPC vs NPC combat in most games I see are just NPCs running to their deaths and not even trying to survive, but this is actually believable as a battle in the Halo universe. Just... beautiful
