This is my favorite 3Ds game of all time. I never played the original GameCube Luigi's Mansion, so to see a revival of that game series makes me really happy. Nintendo, continue reviving franchises and you can take my money all you want!

I understand how people could shrug Luigi's Mansion off as childish, but honestly, I find those people to be a bit brainwashed by social norms. I mean, a fun game is a fun game no matter which way you spin it. And Luigi's Mansion isn't simple or adorable like Kirby's Epic Yarn. It's just cartoony and aimed at a broad demographic. I'm not a big Mario fan, but Luigi's Mansion gave me a sense of fascination and wonder. I found it to be clever and fresh.
Luigis mansion dark moon is my first 3ds game and i am honestly loving the gameplay, but some times when the boos and gems are in totally different rooms not touched in the normal gameplay of the level, i wonder if maybe they should havemade it easier.
An amazing sequel to an amazing game! Luigi's Mansion is my favorite GameCube game and one of my all time favorites! It was the first game I had when I first got my GameCube, it took me about three years to finally beat it and when I did I was so happy! When I saw the trailer for this game I immediately had to get a 3ds so I could play it!

Oh man I have never played the first one but this game is GREAT! I've beat it and it's just pure fun, lots of gameplay, some pretty cool bosses, I admit it's easy to get lost at some parts and yes I have used a few walkthroughs though not many, it also is a pretty long game and the ending is also amazing! Not everyone might like it but its a great game, totally recommend it! 10/10

I hate seeing fans hate on this game for the reason of liking the original. Yes, everyone has an entitled opinion, but it's kind of unfair in that way. I wish that Nintendo would make a game and have it come out on both home and hand held consoles. Even as a digital download to save the expense of producing 2 different hard copies would work and is better then not getting the game entirely. The wii u is set up perfect for being a bigger ds.

Actually, there is, in a way, a third game. There's a game called Luigi's Mansion Arcade. As the name implies, it's an arcade game. It's a first-person Luigi's Mansion game, where you actually hold a controller that looks like a Poltergust and aim it at the ghosts you're going to suck up on the screen. Currently, it's exclusive to Japan. However, Dave & Buster's is supposedly testing it, and so it might spread across the country in their locations, and eventually outside of them, too. Fingers crossed!
As for your idea, I agree. Personally, I feel like though this game was good, it was a bit of a departure from the first (possibly due to the limits of a handheld system). A third game should bring back some elements of the original, such as the Metroidvania style and the Portrait Ghosts. However, the gadgets and other mechanics of this game should also be prevalent, as well as new things that would make the game more of a sequel and less of a rehashing. Not sure what could be done for a plot twist. The first game had several (Mario has been kidnapped, Mario is trapped, the boos escape, the lights going out, etc.) and the game was still pretty short. It did end with the appearance of The Hidden Mansion, which resulted in double the playtime, but that was kind of tacked on the end. Also, for the controls, I'd imagine they would vary depending on what Nintendo's current-gen console is and what its controller looks like.
Well, they just announced a 3DS remaster of the original. That is a good sign, maybe they are using the remaster as time to develop the third Luigi's Mansion Switch! I hope lol
This game is good and all... but the original is better in most aspects. The music is better in Dark Moon, but in Luigi's Mansion, the music made the atmosphere all the more real. I felt like Mario was in danger and it was my job to save him. Dark Moon made me feel that Mario was just there so he could be nice to Luigi at the end. The original Luigi's Mansion is my favorite game of all time, all because of the intense atmosphere that the game has.

I really don't understand what people like so much about this game. I bought it and played it, and it simply does not compare to the original. Not only was the original more about exploration as opposed to missions, but it also allowed you to save throughout the mansion, rather than being forced to finish the mission like Dark Moon does, however, this isn't what makes me dislike Dark Moon so much. The original game had a very unique brand of charm that the sequel is lacking a lot of. I remember the original game's music well, and I love it to this day. Dark Moon's music is very juvenile-sounding, as in it seems like it belongs in an episode of a Nickelodeon cartoon. The same can be said about the ghosts, as I found myself missing the portrait ghosts of the original a lot, and disliking the cartoony Dark Moon ghosts just as much as I missed the portrait ghosts. The overall feel and atmosphere of the original is simply better, and I would not recommend Dark Moon to anyone who enjoys the original in its entirety, as they may be disappointed like me.

the "mama mia" at the end was actually delivered pretty well and kinda made me laugh... you know maybe this is actually almost as good as the original :)
Obviously you should enjoy your teen years the best you can, but there are some that look back on those "glory days" when those days happened a few years ago. When i was a teen i was forced to move away from a place i actually called home and since then everything has been topsy turvy. Nine years later, i still look back at those good times to help me get through the day. Thinking of the good times helps everyone, even if those good times happened "yesturday".
I still remember this game was a pain in the ass to 100%. Finding all the type of ghosts in scarescraper needed so much patience. But it felt very nice to complete the game 100% and see 3 E Gadd medals on your file :D

Actually Luig's Mansión Dark Moon was before called Luig's Mansion 2 in the E3 trailer but then it was changed in 2013 to Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
