to clean the RCA connectors on the back, you can also use a tooth brush.
for the front I use a soft brush (make up brushes are also very good)

Make sure you have the A/B speaker switch set correctly for the speakers you have connected.

i found a dvd player+receiver that has the same problem, it is useless for me but i would like to see how it sounds

Are you saying that this DVD player/receiver you have works fine and the seller did not know how to test it?

@@RadioBoatAnchor i found it in the trash, even the player works, there's no button to enable front speaker but there might be an option in the menu
