      7:45 there is a certain liquid spray that you can apply before welding. keeps those bubbles away or makes them easy to remove. otherwise, painting it over just feels terribly wrong.

    Uplifting to see guys who keep everyone else's cars going get the opportunity to work on their own cool projects and get to flex their car guy muscles. Old Miatas are pretty special for being easy to get and sorta cheep and...great fun. Nice man but if you do this again I strongly suggest you don't cut the tabs off when doing the fender flares. Cutting them off does 2 things on a unibody car, 1 it comprises lateral strength in the rest of the body panels that were cut and if your driving can cause the fenders to rattle and 2 unless you seal that opening water will get in-between the outer layer and the inner layer which will cause rust and rot. Rather than cutting them all the way off you can roll them into the wheel well then just seal by undercoating the well. Just an observation but other than that beautiful job 🤙🤌🤙

    Man I just watched this after I just got my 96 Miata with 98k miles done the valve cover gasket, shifter rebuild/short throw, loved the build just wanted to ask about the bikini top, does that replace the soft top or can you do use the bikini top and still run with the soft top down like you can with a hard top with the soft top down

    • @HazardGarage
      @HazardGarage  Рік тому

      You can run the bikini top and keep your soft top, although the version I had, you will have a plastic "bar" running across the top of your windshield. I believe the company that makes the bikini top also offers a version where you can use parts from a junkyard soft top to latch it to the car.

    Very nice video! But what tips would you have for someone who wants to rebuild their own miata? where should one look first and how can you read the symptoms?

    • @HazardGarage
      @HazardGarage  Рік тому

      thanks for watching! I think the biggest thing to help you tackle a project car if you don't have experience is time.
      When you don't have to worry about finishing a timing belt change in 3 hours because you have to drive to work tomorrow, it makes it much less stressful and you can take your time learning while doing it. Watch lots of how-to videos too!
      Also I think a good place to start in refurbishing your miata is basic maintenance items! Spark plugs, timing belts, oil changes etc. You don't necessarily need to dive into non-scheduled maintenance like crank seals etc unless they are failing/leaking.
      hope that helps!
