Can I just say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I had been struggling with a system that just didn’t work but I kept trying to make it work since I spent money on it. The Michael’s bins are the exact perfect solution I needed! You’ve changed my knitting life.
I've been using Ziploc bags for each size. I tend to keep my needles in the package they came in. I've seen this storage system by another channel and it intrigues me. But if I take them out of the package would also like to sort my needles by cable length.
I also wondered about that. Looked on etsy under knitting needle cable keeper and saw a few options to solve that problem. I've always kept needles in their original bag but now my drawer is difficult to open and/or I send a few out the open back of the drawer. lol. Hope this helps.
Amanda, I literally just bought this at Michael's last week because you showed this set-up before!! I love that you did a more detailed video especially with how you twist up the needles so they stay. Super timely!! Thank you!
This is GENIUS, thank you!! I've been struggling with my circular storage for decades. Purchased two cases so I can use the second to organize other knitting/crochet accessories as well.
Love this idea! Just ordered the photo storage boxes from Michaels. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful storage solution for circular needles!
Thank you for sharing this great idea with us Amanda !!! It’s amazing that I finish my project and my needles stay in my bag and then I leave in there ,don’t put in the plastic Jacket they come in 😊 So thanks ❤❤❤
I used 2 of these for my garden seeds storage! They are so practical. Good idea to use them for needles. I have a big binder and zipper pouches for each needle size.
This is brilliant AND BONUS, currently on sale at my Michaels! Have you done the interchangeable storage video? And I definitely agree I love Chiagoo needles!
thanks for the circ storage idea! mine are all blobbed together in a cookie tin, and i’ve actually not made certain projects because i hate the thought of opening the tin and scrounging around for the right circ. btw, it’s now $15 :)
I dont knit......yet. But this is a great idea for my tunusian hooks n cables. I was thinking of a binder with pencil holders 🤔 for all my lantern moon cables n a pouch for my cable ends. Was still trying to figure out the hook part. Think this might work better since i dont have to worry about wood hooks.
I went to the chiaogoo needle sight...what is the number...the length of the cord?? How do you get different lengths if you buy the bundle of them? Thanking you in advance for your time and help!
There will be two different measurements if you're looking for circular needles. One for the cable length and one for the needle circumference. As for your second question are you asking about the interchangeable needles? My set came with 3 different cable lengths and you can always purchase more.
I have a few and I just stick them in this case as well. I'm not a huge user of them though to be honest. I wonder if you could put them in this case but elastic each set together?
What kind of cord are they? Plastic? Dipping plastic cords in some boiling water for a little bit can help some. But they always tend to kink back up again.

You're so welcome! Hope it's working well for you!

For a while I kept them in their packages in here! I just had to fold the top of the cardboard down a little to make them fit.

Genius! I can’t wait to see your storage for interchangeable! Thank you
I’m almost embarrassed I didn’t think of this before 😂 I’m a teacher and these photo cases are EVERYTHING for classroom storage!
I have a canvas organizer that hangs on my wall. Bought it at a knitting store and love it. It has divisions with sizes printed on it.
I would also be interested in your thoughts on interchangeable needle and cable storage.
This is GENIUS, thank you!! I've been struggling with my circular storage for decades. Purchased two cases so I can use the second to organize other knitting/crochet accessories as well.
What a brilliant idea , never too old to learn something new🧓
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for sharing this great idea. I just organized mine. So happy!
You are so welcome!
Great idea! I also knit loosely and have 1.5mm needles!
Omg my in-laws just bought me this and I was struggling to find out how to use it. Thank you so much ❤

I saw you praising this some episodes ago and bought it last week from Joann’s half price. Need just to take some time to organize it. 🥰
You’re going to LOVE it!!
A great idea and will get a couple of them and I love the chiaogoo needles they are lovely to knit with
They're the best! Haven't found a cable on any other needles that I like
A lot better than my jingle jangle situation!
I’ve had the same needle storage for years and can totally recommend it 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing this great idea with us Amanda !!!

Oh that’s a great idea too!
Yes, exactly. I switched to this method of storage a few years ago and it work's great.
So glad I found it years ago!
Thx for this idea for the storage. Definitely going to do this ❤
You’re welcome 😊
What label maker do you use. I need to buy one. I love your circular storage idea.
It’s a Brother PTH200!
This is brilliant AND BONUS, currently on sale at my Michaels! Have you done the interchangeable storage video? And I definitely agree I love Chiagoo needles!
Yay!! And no, not yet. I'm not 100% happy with my setup just yet!

Ahh yay! So glad you like, and that it's so cheap right now!
Excellent idea. Thank you for sharing.

That's a great idea too! Let me know how it goes if you try!
Fantastic! Thanks!

Thank you!!
Do you have a recommendation for DPN storage?
I have a few and I just stick them in this case as well. I'm not a huge user of them though to be honest. I wonder if you could put them in this case but elastic each set together?
Where do you get the labels
I have a label maker. Printed them myself.
I need a storage solution for 11” straights 🥴
I would maybe get some reusable fabric pouches or pencil cases? You could label them with sizes and then keep them all in order in a larger box?
Do you have any suggestions for straightening out your circular needles ( cords)?
What kind of cord are they? Plastic? Dipping plastic cords in some boiling water for a little bit can help some. But they always tend to kink back up again.
Why can't we have Michael's in the UK😢
And no, Hobbycraft is not the same, not by a long shot
I would try searching "photo case with handle" on amazon and see what pops up! Gave me lots of similar options.
@@birchandlily Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think of doing that. 😊
That’s funny that you don’t have any 5.5mm. That’s one I use constantly and need duplicates of. I am a pretty tight knitter (wish I wasn’t)
I’m a SUPER loose knitter! I usually have to use a 3 or 3.25mm to knit with DK 🤦♀️
