- "Sing on the Dugulumba Balun" took place on the unceded lands of the Yugembeh people, and we acknowledge their ongoing connection to the land, air and waters of this beautiful Country.
Dugulumba Balun is the name for the "Logan River" in Yugambeh language.
We are grateful to Uncle Ted Williams, Elder and Yugambeh Traditional Custodian for Welcoming us to Country and for the collaboration of South-East Queensland First Nations collective, Mob23.
We pay our deep respect to Elders & Traditional Custodians of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across Australia. Always was, and always will be Aboriginal Land.
"Sing on the Dugulumba Balun" invited everyone, no singing experience required - "blackfella, whitefella, every fella, any fella" - to join music duo Mundy-Turner in a community performance of the Warumpi Band's iconic anthem "Blackfella/Whitefella" as part of Reconciliation Australia's "Voices for Reconciliation: Louder than Ever", marking National Reconciliation Week 2024.
This group had never sung together before. For some it was their very first time in a choir.
