    I rode this scooter for 4 days at Amerivespa 23 in Flagstaff, AZ. While every other stock P-200 was dragging it's ass up the mountain to Sedona (including my own that a buddy was riding), this beast had power to spare.
    It is fast and takes off like a rocket. Like the man said, I rode it a lot more mildly then he does. It took it upto maybe 68 -70 mph on a long straight stretch in the Grand Canyon National Park and about crapped my self. This was in 3rd gear with not even half throttle.
    Seriously though, this scooter is fast, stable and lot of fun to ride. I'm really thankful for the opportunity to enjoy it in a really cool environment with folks who could appreciate the technology and skill that went into it's construction.

    Would you happen to have some photos of how you mounted the radial master cylinder please? I like the idea just need wondered if there was any detailed pics.
    Thanks Pat

    I need to know more about why you shorten the fork ? You’ve done it before but still don’t know exactly why? Please let us know in a video possibly!

      Good question!
      A. A P-series just looks soooooo much better with it.
      B. The front wheel tucked down, on performance builds, prevents it from coming up in the front. Involuntary wheelies are a P problem. Especially out of turns that kinda sucks.
      C. I change with it the trail of the fork. It becomes much more stable at high speeds and fast turns. Riding this at 85mph on the highway vs a P200 with stock suspension is day and night.
      A lot of the "riding scooters that fast is dangerous" stem from that experience for a lot of people. This is something else in terms of rideability, entirely.

      I run a standard px disc fork with a pk shock. Drops the front and changes the link angle.. seems ok

    So you ride A Vespa on the freeways around Atlanta? That takes BALLS. I drive A semi from Savannah to Atlanta and I usually try to to get into town as early as possible because it seems like there is carnage on the roads every day 😅

    Nice video. Any results now from the dyno bench after you fixed the issue? Should be about 33-40 hp depending on exhaust...

    Great video! Enjoyed it immensely. I’ve ridden motorcycles for 40 plus years and am contemplating a Vespa. I currently own a VStrom and a 1977 BMW airhead. I’ve always worked on my own bikes and I do like the older bikes. I’m thinking about a two stroke manual Vespa, could you suggest a year and model range to look at? Some performance parts later on would be in my mind also. I don’t want to go too old, but any suggestions in what to look for would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again! Joe

    how do you keep the body from rusting further? Oil or some preserving spray?

    • @ThatScooterThing
      @ThatScooterThing  Рік тому

      Long tail seat, if you are in the US. Scooter Mercato sells it. It works incredibly well with the US Spec tail light.

    Nice scooter you've got there man. I'm just curious about the number of egt when cruising and wot at the highway.
    Greetings from a fellow scooterist from Indonesia

    • @ThatScooterThing
      @ThatScooterThing  Рік тому

      So it is really hard to compare EGT between different folks/bikes as the location is not always 100% the same. At WOT on the highway, when I run out of gas I spike to 1100 but then drop again. (Lower egt can also mean lean). When with pump, 1100-1200. On my 3 hour highway ride going 70+ constantly it was hovering between 850 and 900.
      CHT wise the quattrini does run quite hot vs a Malossi head, not sure it has to do with location or bad sensor but highway I see 340-360, cruising backroads I rarely go over 330.
      (All of this in Fahrenheit, I am forcing myself to learn 'murican numbers)

    • @adicursed
      @adicursed Рік тому

      @@ThatScooterThing @That Scooter Thing yup you're absolutely right. Also the distance of the probe towards the piston skirt and the tip of it towards the center axis of exhaust do affect the reading. Based on what you got there I think your egt reading is on point.
      Whoa man, that's barely 1300! That's ball of tungsten moment when you wot her nearly the aluminium melting point lmao.
      I don't know much about p200 basic engine but I have experience on smallframe engine that cht readings are affected by airflow blown by flywheel fin. So the design of cyl cowling and flywheel fon shape affects cht readings. I found my cht drop when I miss shifted and revved up to 13k+ (it's a smallframe so it's 'safe' to accidentally rev through the roof lol 😂😂)
      Did you put different flywheel between malossi and quattrini setup? Assuming the cyl and head shape (from outside) between those 2 are similar and you put the same cyl cowling, it's ridiculous that ali barrel runs hotter cast iron
      p.s. I ran back and forth through converter to understand those murican imperial system 🤣🤣

  • @EddieEloff
    @EddieEloff Рік тому

    Std 150 gets 30kml. Std 200 gets 25kml. Looks like you are getting 20kml. My stroked 210 malossi gets like 35kml but if you open her up on freeway. I can burn 5l in 50km 😂. That's doing 140kmh all the way. I have sprint veloce I wish to build up like the sprint you built for client. Just broke. But I love my p150x 172 quattrini. Top speed 120kmh but I'm to scared to go there. Happy doing 80kmh. Up any hill she will go and pick up speed. Beautiful to ride.
