Since I retired about 12 months ago, I have really learned that now it is time to do the things I truly enjoy without worrying about work and other people…Okay, I get a good enough pension, but not one that means a lavish lifestyle, but enough to engage in DIY HiFi, some of it rather novel just for experimentation, but it’s fun. So I for one think you are doing all the right things here!
Hey, Stephe! Antique Electronic Supply has a wholesale side (with a different name). They have an online form you can fill out to apply for getting wholesale prices. I tried and was denied, but I'm not planning on ordering any real volume soon. You are, and you have an LLC, so ... Maybe you already know about this... Happy new year!
Good onya Stephe! Do it the way YOU wanna do it! I was never very interested in those reviews anyway! Just amp building, testing & assessing will be fine with me!
Feel better! I’m nursing a bad back for nearly a week. FYI, on the side I illustrate and self publish children’s books. My children thought I’d get rich. Turns out it isn’t easy getting rich illustrating children’s books. I call it ‘pizza money’. Thank you for your content. Have fun! The stuff you did in the past is great. Whatever you provide in the future is very much appreciated.
Happy New Year. It is great that you want to focus on build and show the process. It is always lot of nice knowledge you share while building. This is something I value a lot. I learned lot of things from you, keep on going this direction! Some ideas: see moodwright analog to analog buffer (between source and pre- or -power). This is tube buffer to better match impedance between source (especially regulated output dac) and power amp. Gives more space and good tube vibe to sound. Would be nice to see this kind of build! Also lot of good stuff comes from tube input buffer for d-class amp. Like icepower Etc. Since lot of these d-class is now available as ready kits for diy amplifier build, having nice addition with tube front stage could make this kind of build more complete... my best greetings Stephe!!!
Have to agree with your decision to build a NEW Stereo 70 versus refurbing an old one. It's just a good thing there's people like Danny and Kevin who are keeping these amps alive. Looking forward to your build.
I was watching very many review videos in the past. I stopped watching those and other content a year or so ago but I still watch your videos. I lost interest in the others but not you. Keep doing what you want as there are many like me that enjoy watching.
Happy New Year Stephe! Thanks for bringing us your expertise and knowledge, projects, and sharing us in this DIY perspective. I love the Monday monologue. What I'd like to see once in a while, would be "back to basic" lessons about what makes what, how to calculate bias, power draw, a power supply, choose a power curve etc.. what is the advantage of cascode driver stage vs... etc.. how to put two capacitors together to raise the voltage they can take, parallel or serie? that basic stuff. May be include some of it in the Monday Monologue? one thing is sure, just choose the projects you like and turn your interest on. These are the ones that benefit to all of us. Thanks for being around Stephe. From Quebec.
Hi Stephe, happy new year. I think 2025 will be really great for your channel, at least as far as the the intended audience is concerned. From my side I am happy you are staying true to the niche you are in. There are plenty of reviewers of HiFi and ChiFi, so people who like that are not left out in the cold.
Every evolution video makes sense and the theme is you moving closer and closer to what you want I still like the notion of a treated demo/listening building aka “storage shed” for property tax purposes makes sense as a base of operations but it is easy for me to spend your time and treasure Regardless, doing exactly what you want makes the most sense and hope 2025 is everything you hope it will be
Thanks for sharing your plans for the new year, the plans are very reasonable and, yes, - wise in view od the previous experience. Wish you a happy and interesting ( plus in the word's second - material- meaning.. ) Year! 🌲
Just keep grinding. DIY is niche but the channel will keep growing over time. Channel like yours is great for the non builders to realize this type of stuff can be done by everyday people that have the drive to do it. The people who incorporate this channel into their daily lives & builds really appreciate what you do. Im interested to see your Balanced amp build. I agree with your thoughts on the ST70 builds. I did my last Van Alstine ST70 for under $1k all new without tubes. Happy New Year!!!
Sorry you got bronchitis. Hope you’re feeling better soon. You’re on an honest path that you enjoy. I dig all your vids very much, so keep on keeping on, and make it fun for Skunkie! Ahh, that sucks about the camera business. That’s nice of you to be there for that guy though. I’ll always be around, if that’s any consolation 😂 Seriously though, I’ve told you what you and your vids mean to me and even other amps techs I’ve shown watch em now. Good luck, Stephe 🔊😊🎶💜
Losing it , it took me a minute to realise what that 'there's no place like OHM' was about. Getting old. Anyway , hope you have fun this year as I'm sure we will if you do.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronicsMore power tubes but no need to buy output trannies...I have owned a T8_LN for about 20 years. When I first got it I was truly stunned at how great it sounded with my Ref3A DeCapo speakers. So I built up a stash of used and NOS power tubes over the years. Some of Rozenblits' newer designs use less tubes for lower power. Also, he has published some of his earlier designs (for example the T8) so they can be built from scratch...
I realize all of this and I know what an OTL amp is all about. Just like I know what open baffle speakers are even if I have never reviewed nor owned a pair. Some people love those too. I have heard an OTL amp and maybe it was their setup, I wasn't that impressed. But everyone has different tastes, just like they do with speakers. I'm glad you enjoy yours. Again like I said, if someone wants me to build them one and was paying for it, I'd be happy to do it. But that's not a project I am personally interested in and like I said in the video, I'm not going to build stuff "for views" on my dime that I'm not personally interested in going forward.

Fair play to you mate. Sounds like you’re having fun. Congrats on your retirement.
Looking forward to the st70 build. I would suggest keeping it as original as possible but with a few modern updates (eg binding posts etc.).
Cool Coffee Mug, Stephe!
That is a cute mug:)
Happy New Year. 2025 is going to be a great year, and doing what you enjoy sounds like a great motto for the year.
Cheers to that!
Yes, just do your thing.👍
Watching. I enjoy your channel. Keep doing what you love.
ST70! Really looking forward to this.
Looking forward to you making fun!
Have fun and keep it simple 🎶😊
Just do what makes you happy, dont worry about the views.
Right, I think trying to focus on the "content creation" side would be a bad idea.
@SkunkieDesignsElectronics to be honest, most viewers just want to see people being passionate about their hobbies.
Love the mug Steph!

Pizza money is a good way to describe this :)
The tube world know who you are, and make references to your work,Hope you end up with good earnings by the way, And the most inportant good health
I agree: Chi-Fi UA-cam reviews are a dime a dozen, so focus on your amp building and testing instead.

Really enjoy the construction videos I used to do it myself but arthritis put an end to that.

The resistor-shaped handle gave it away.
@@1mctous Duh... I didn't even catch that!
Yea. Some content creators have 3 or 4 producers / interns . Naa... this is super great channel.
Correct, I am a solo deal, no script or anything like that. I rarely even have an outline when I hit the record button!
How about building one of Transcendent Sound's kits? Many would say an OTL is the ultimate tube amp (myself included ;)
If someone wanted to commission me to build one, I might.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics Have you ever heard a tube OTL? They can be amazing with the right speakers.
