The Shenyang F5 is essentially a heavier MiG-17 with an afterburner and air to air missiles. It is essentially a MiG-17F. It's an amazing plane however is it really worth 50 bucks considering the Chinese have not many special vehicles. The missiles are essentially worse Aim-9Bs and the guns really aren't the greatest in terms of user friendliness.

17:46 the missile was confused because there were 2 targets at the same place, and OBVIOUSLY it started tracking your teammate (who died 1s later), that always happens for some reason
Probs because the F4 had it's burners on and the F-100 didn't, regardless shits annoying lol

The problem with these guns is not how hard to aim for me it's how many hits I get without real damage.
The 37 mostly does good damage, if you get a lot of hits it's mostly the 23s

maybe they buffed them but now they hit like a truck

Man this matchmaker was a hell of a time. While it is fun nowadays fighting things like AV-8A's in the Shenyang, the copious amount of SU-25Ks and A-10s on top of the barrage of supersonics easily avoiding you is frustrating. It's quite sad that things like this aircraft and the pretty much all MiG-17 variants and missile Sabres are hardly ever played anymore (at least from what I've seen at 9.0)
Even though you shoved a missile up my ass in that old mig-19 video when I was in a Vautour B. I’ve always loved and enjoyed your videos. Very helpful with the tips and other guidance that you give, Defyn. They’ve helped improved my shit flying a bit lol. Keep them vids coming:)

This jet is amazing. Constantly being uptiered just now and somehow it still manages to hold its own. I love getting close to all these missile carriers and taking their tails off

It's not, it's the same thing as the TT one but with horrible missiles.
I recommend you to get tier 3-4 premiums instead, and which ones will depend on what nation you're interested in
I hate when I'm playing sub sonic jets and everytime I try to fight any super sonic they just run away like bruh

I bought the shenyang f 5 today with the spring sale! I hope I enjoy it cuz I’ve been looking for a jet I would actually enjoy playing with, considering the guns on this thing and the low repair cost 🤩
@Bonez I mean... I think I recommend the f 5 cuz it has the strong afterburner which is really good in vertical dogfighting.

This thing is completely broken, OP if you want.
His BR is way too low and it's 100% of the time top tier.
When I play my MD 452 IIC it's so hard to fight those thing.
But you know, Money is now over gameplay.
The br should definitely go up, but regarding that toptier stuff. I fight 10.0 about 80% of the time

Yeah you get 10 very often so no pony in br change unless they push the top br up higher
I honestly get more kills with missiles than guns with it. I also suck at aiming the guns so I usually play pretty aggressive and chase down targets while I have missiles and then switch over to playing passive and waiting for optimum times to fire.
Are the missiles worth using? I never seem to have any luck with them I usually leave them off for just guns for a small performance boost.
They are, if for nothing other than forcing faster planes to bleed speed when they’re running away from you, setting you up for a gun kill

But IMO Gaijin should START with afterburning subsonics rather than go straight for supersonic and then jumping a huge gap and pretty much instantly releasing Mach 2+ planes
Hey defyn just wondering your opinion on the g.91 r/3 and any tips you may have for it.
Will do a vid soon, but in all reality it's too slow to fight super sonics. It struggles vs sabres at high speed. It's one of those planes that thrives on being slow and nimble, something that is getting less and less relevant
@@DEFYN yeah thats what i was thinking but i was worried it was just pilot error. When i see a 10.0 match i just load ground target belts to clean up pillboxes to at least get some rp worth my time
Rofl, I can't blame you. You can call it a "pilot error" but the plane is extremely hard to play well atm

It's either this or the premium Dora FW. Not sure which one is gonna be more fun but the new F-5 came out in the Chinese tech tree so idk
The Chinese line has 2 planes that are unique basically, both of them being another F-5 9.3 right now is basically unplayable
The dora isn't that unique but you grind the entire german line with it

I don't recommend either.
Flying 9.0 especially migs isn't a very great experience when you're not too familiar with jets.
I would go with the A/S though because it actually has something to grind. But I would recommend flying tier 3-4 before jumping into that pit

37s and 23s, the 30mm on the MIG19 and 21 is really good
They were made to kill bombers, irl the guns should be alright, but in wt shit doesn't fit too well
@@DEFYN Yup, I have seen and touched 23mm shells because they are what we use on Anti Air craft tanks, and oh boy they are big, that thing with the amount of HE and sheer size it's insane that in War Thunder they don't blow up the entire plane with just one hit, and well, the 37mm explains itself too, but they should definately be faster
