    I have a good impression of Germany since watching these videos ( you're a great ambassador).
    Question: Do you ( or Germans in general) speak other European languages ( French ,Spanish, Italian,Portuguese....) ?

    • @honey27003
      @honey27003  2 роки тому

      hahaha I'm very glad I'm representing us well so far. I will go in depth about this question in a future Q&A but the quick answer is yea, we tend to speak more than one European language

    I wanted to ask you your perception on the differences in restaurants in Germany compared to the USA. I have noticed on my many trips to Germany, it seems as though the restaurants are a lot more reasonable in overall price compared to the USA. Also the food seems as though its fresher and cooked actually to order as opposed to the USA where the food is mostly pre-cooked and just reheated or they finish cooking it. My friend Jan (he pronounces it Yan in English) went out tonight in Duisburg and he had a HUGE plate of Pfeffer Schnitzel with fries and a drink for like 10 euro. That easily would have been 20 euro here. There is a German Restaurant in my hometown of San Jose California called Teskes Germania and plate of jaeger schnitzel is $25, I have never paid more than 15 euro in Germany for the same. Well sorry for rambling, I was supposed to be over at my friends but I came down with covid so now planning 3/1 to Germany

      Very interesting topic. Each country handles their restaurants differently and while what you say is true I can also think of some things that American restaurants do that I like much better than in German restaurants. For instance that water is free in American restaurants and that they give you refills. But I think I will go more in depth about this topic in a future video. Thank you for giving me this interesting thing to think about. That's why I love being able to exchange ideas on cultural differences etc. Makes you think differently about stuff

    I would've liked to ask about both, Germans and Americans, do you think they are well-informed? Do they like to watch the news or get their news from influencers?

    • @honey27003
      @honey27003  2 роки тому

      I will definitely answer this in a future Q&A. Very interesting question and I definitely think there are some differences between the cultures

    Laura. I watch a channel by a German Girl (her hometown is Muenchen) named Felicia Hofner...her channel is now "Feli From Germany'. She has remarked many times how people in the US will say "Excuse me" when passing close to other people , say in aisles in a store, where as Germans don't say that even if they Bump into you as they pass by. When she visits Germany her new American way of doing things kicks in and she says "Entschuldigung" often in that type of situation...and Germans look at her funny when she does. Can you comment about that from your experience having lived in both Germany and the US?. She also says that Sales People and Waiters/Waitresses are more polite and friendly in the US. Can you comment on that as well? Tschuess!

    • @honey27003
      @honey27003  2 роки тому

      I will definitely make a video about that because there is so much so say on this topic of general behavior and politeness. To give a short answer I would say that Germans and Americans are very different in their general approach to other people/ strangers. Many of the stereotypes about Germans in that regard are somewhat true. We don't communicate much with people we don't know. Definitely something I only started noticing once I left the country, though

    That's funny back to drumpy land lol.. Well what about proms did you go to that or any school dance. And I remembereed you mentioned you only had a week before school started. Now is that normal or can an exchange student arrive a month during the summer and get use to the surroundings. Also the agency never sent or y'all meaning the host family and you, never exchanged photos prior to arrival. That to me for an agency needs fixing. It would be best to have some kind of knowledge on each other or am I wrong about that. Thanks and keep up the good work..

    • @honey27003
      @honey27003  2 роки тому +1

      I will include these questions in an upcoming exchange student Q&A, however, I can already tell you that the very short period that exchange students get before high school starts is kind of normal. I don't think anyone got significantly more than two weeks. And yes, I did get to go to homecoming and prom although prom was very different from what I expected

    Good vid, Laura! While you were "Deep in the Heart of Texas" (It's a famous, old song. Look it up!), were you ever invited to do a real (Red State) "Southern" thing like shoot a gun (hopefully aimed at a target, not a Democrat), or ride a horse? Also, prior to your selection for your program (CBYX, correct?), was there a minimum-English-fluency requirement, or a test for English fluency? Grüß aus Kalifornien! Dein, Raimund

      @honey27003  2 роки тому

      I will touch on that more in a different video as I think it could be very interesting for future exchange students as well. I was actually somewhat prohibited to do many of these things as they weren't fully covered by insurance. Our exchange organization did not want us to do any of these things. Of course, being in Texas, you get to at least watch

    Laura, did your host parents give you a house key? 🏡🔑 And what did you think about that, whether they did or didn't?
    Wonderful information as always, thanks!

    • @honey27003
      @honey27003  2 роки тому +1

      Very interesting question. I will include it in my exchange student Q&A as I'm sure many will be interested in the answer. But to not keep you waiting: I actually didn't get a housekey but most times someone would be home before me or one of my host siblings would get home at the same time. Not even sure the door was always locked to be honest :D
