A far as I can tell, Blake ditched the guy because he didn't care if their heist killed all the people on the train and she is not down for casual murder.
Yep, that was That Dude who looks like a refugee from the Clockwork Orange movie. He was hiring the thugs he used to rob the shop in episode 1.
I don't think the show ever really explains what happens in the White trailer so it should be fair game to explain slightly - the giant armor fight was a test she passed so she could go to the school, and it left her with the scar on her face. She was apparently remembering it while singing her "Mirror, Mirror" song in concert later.
Watching the white trailer after seasons 7-8 gives a bit more info to fill in the gaps, but that's a LONG time before we get to her backstory.
Fun fact, the twins in the yellow trailer were the original character designs for ruby and weiss.
They barely get seen again, but they do reappear.

The red head guy, Adam, in the black trailer has not been in the episodes you've watched. Events, places and characters from the trailers will often be referred to later throughout the first few chapters.
RWBY is one of those shows that you can spend hours picking apart. There's lots of little hints and foreshadowings hidden through the show, some don't pay off until several Volumes later. Its what I like most about the show, when it's slowly but deliberately building towards a big conclusion.
But, it's entirely up to you how much you want to get into that. Enjoyed your reaction!

Blake's weapon, Gambol Shroud, is inspired by a traditional Japanese weapon called a kusarigama--except, because this is RWBY, it's also a gun. 😛
But of course, the fact that everything’s a gun just makes this show so much better 😂

Monty made the first pair by himself as proof of concept. RT picked it up, hence the extra characters, voicework and plot hints in the second pair (even the bird flying over Yang). People tend to react to the soundtracks too, so don't worry about missing it for now. You'll understand the inspiration for the characters when you reach chapter eight; Blake is the only one people have trouble identifying, so... Adam is her Beast.
For Weiss trailer, when she's fighting the giant armor, it's all real. If you notice, before she fight, she didn't have a scar on her eye. So, that fight gave her the scar.
For the Blake trailer, try to spot a symbol around the train. There's a specific symbol that connect to one of the main cast and will be back again in the future chapter so keep that in mind.

She is remembering the fight she had with that armor sometime earlier on the same stage. She has the scar before and after the memory.

One of the most underrated movies you’ve never seen
Monty Oums speciality was fight coriography. The Red trailer was originally silent, and was made as a proof of cocept. The music ans sfx were added later.
One interesting tidbit about Yang; her weakness is fighters who use their legs. Kick-based fighters have that extra reach and mobility that throws Yang off her game. That is why she had trouble fighting the twins at the same time; one used claws and the other used greaves in a kick-based style. Once she split them up, she hard-focused Miltia - the red twin - because she used a claw based style that Yang knew she could beat with ease; without her sister, Melanie - the white twin - was far weaker and Yang could overpower her.
This weakness comes up again against Neo, who's umbrella and kick-based combat style easily crushed out Yang. After that, Yang fought Mercury, who very nearly beat her. In fact, it's very likely that in Season 3 he *could* have beaten her, but he was supposed to lose the match to kick off the first wave of negative emotions. Then in Volume 5, Mercury gives her serious trouble again, displaying her weakness even more obviously.
- yeah, the Red trailer was made as a proof of concept/prototype, done entirely by Monty Oum.
- The White, Black, and Yellow trailers are fully canon, but the Red trailer is only semi-canon. I like to think of it as a dream Ruby had. 8)
- white girl is named Weiss Schnee (German for White Snow). She's remembering the fight with the knight while she's singing. As it transitions from the end of the fight back to the concert, you can make out the scar from where she was bleeding.
- the guy with Blake doesn't show up again until the end of Vol 2
- heh, there's a reason The Oasis in Ready Player One was so popular. 🙂
- yeah 90% of the weapons seen in the show have both a melee/close combat form and a gun form.
- yeah, Adam absorbs hits to his sword and can then use that power offensively. It wasn't spelled out in the show for several volumes but you were right on the money there.
- The RWBY OST are pretty good. The singer for 75% of the songs is a young lady named Casey Williams. For the trailers/Vol 1 she was only 14years old.
- Yup, that's Torchwick, hiring the goons he was leading in Ep 1.
- yeah, those 2 are twins. The red twin has a pair of Wolverine like claws, the white twin has blades on her heels.
- white wasn't KO'd but she was definitely had had her fill and was eager to stagger out of the way. 😈
- don't mess with Yang's hair.
- Dust does come in several types, and some are more useful in a given situation than other types.
- Ruby is based on Red Riding Hood, Weiss is Snow White, Yang is based on Goldilocks (Junior=Baby bear)
No, the fight choreography does not keep getting better and better. The fight choreography is good in Volumes 1-3. For all the other Volumes its mostly much, MUCH worse, except for a few instances.
The song lyrics give insight into the characters.
All of RWBY's music is incredibly lyric heavy often referencing characters, plot beats, backstories, etc. It would be worth it to do a reaction to the soundtracks at the end of each volume with lyric videos. Rooster Teeth is pretty cool with reactions.

The most disappointing things about the trailers is they have some of the most badass weapon sequences that are never really utilized again (like Blake's first use of her ribbon with her gun, Yang's reload, and Weiss activating the Dust in her rapier.)
Monty made the first 2 alone. His talent for animation and choreography was unmatched. RIP monty oum.
Weiss's sword is basically a gun-blade. Remember in RWBY almost everything is also a gun...
Ad for the question about the importance of elements and their relationship to dust I'd recommend watching the first "World or Remnant" video, it covers the subject of Dust. It released after Volume 2 Episode 4 so you are just coming up to it. It is worth checking when you should watch the various World of Remnant videos. They are essentially things that are common knowledge to the characters so it doesn't make sense to cover the info in the show proper. None of them are any sort of spoiler except "The Four Maidens" which came after Volume 3 episode 9, so you can watch the rest whenever really. Some sites list them as episodes some list them as bonus features, so check the service you are using so you don't miss them.
None of it is essential, but might come back later… Most of the songs actually shed a bit more light on characters or possibly foreshadow things… Then again, some are just fun lol. Like others have said, it’s probably worth checking out the songs for each volume after the volume is over… We like reactions, but don’t feel you have to.
Elemental magic type stuff does exist through the use of dust. It isn’t a big thing in the sense of “this magic is strong against this magic”… It’s more like “this dust can have certain effects”. For example, Ruby uses the recoil from her sniper rifle to help with her attacks… At one point she swaps her ammunition type, to gravity dust ammunition, which gives her even more of a boost when she fires her weapon… The airships also use gravity dust to help them float, but in a different way… Weiss has special glyphs, which she can imbue with dust… But I think sometimes she was using dust on its own too…
There is a supplementary show called World of Remnant, if you’re interested… They cover a bunch of stuff in more detail… It’s best to watch them at roughly the right times, because some potentially spoil certain things if you watch too early. The first four might be safe now, but they are meant to be watched around volume 2. The next 4 are meant to be watched during volume 3, but you’re possibly better off waiting until after the maidens are mentioned before you watch the 8th one. The rest should be fine during volume 4 or onwards.

You can also say Ruby is both Little Red and Dorothy from the Wiz. RUBY red slippers, the goal is to defeat the Wicked Witch, she has a dog, then there’s OZpin, her uncle QROW, IRONwood and that character based on the Cowardly Lion that I choose to ignore.

-the Late, Great creator of the series Monty Oum (Rest in Peace) made that first trailer all by himself as a pilot pitch to Rooster Teeth, they accepted it and formed what is known as the "Crwby" who helped animate it and eventually took over after Monty's passing.
-a common thing to keep in mind for this universe: nearly every weapon is also some form of gun
-correct, the animation only gets better (for the most part) from here, but the best parts of this series are the music and fight choreography in my opinion
-the wolf creatures in the "Red" trailer are a type of "creature of Grimm" known as a "Beowulf"
-the person who sung in all these trailers (Casey Lee Williams (i might have misspelt her name)) was only about 13 when she sung the soundtrack at this point! Mad Talent!
-Ruby and Yang are half sisters
The Malachite Twins, the other two girls in Yang's trailer were based on early concept art for Ruby and Weiss. (names never given in show, they were named in RWBY Amity, a now defunct base defense game)
I'd recommend watching Dead Fantasy series by Monty as well if you want to see more of his crazy animation style. All the episodes (1-6) are on UA-cam.

So... first time watching and so far I like how you do this - definetly sticking around!
I will try to give some comprehensive trivia/non-spoiler explanation on episodes since I dont see anyone else really doing it. I will also namedrop the weapons each member has since we dont get properly introduced - Ruby is the only one with manners.
The first two trailers were done by Monty alone as a pitch to Rooster Teeth - thats why the whole visal is a bit scuffed - its literally one man work. Its also why the choreography is still top notch.
Big thing to notice is that Ruby is standing at a grave to begin with the epitaph reads "Summer Rose Thus Kindly I Scatter" - The quote is reference to the poem The Last Rose of Summer by Thomas Moore.
As Ruby already explained her weapon is named Crescent Rose. It is a scythe sniper rifle.
In White trailer the mirror world you see is a flashback - when Weiss decided to go to Beacon, her father was opposed to it and thus devised a test she was supposed to fail at - he wanted her to 1vs1 an extremely powerful and dangerous variant of Grimm called Geist (you will see how strong they are later). She got her scar during this fight but ultimately succeeded so her father had no choice but to allow her to leave.
Weiss' weapon is called Myrtenaster - it is a rapier with dust chambers to empower in various ways.
In Black trailer as others mentioned there is an interesting symbol on the crates. Good job picking up on that robot creeping in btw. Also good catch on the inspiration, visually black trailer is supposed to resemble Devil May Cry afaik. It is implied that Blake left cuz Adam wanted to blow up the train with the crew and she disagreed ("Move on to the next cart, I will set the charges." "What about the crew members?" "WhAt AbOuT tHeM?").

I suggest actually not to pay attention to music and leave that for a OST reaction. The music is super important in retrospect but if you decide to do that it wouldnt make sense to miss whats happening to listen closely to the music.
Also do be careful - lots of ppl will try to "poison the well" for you, hell I even saw ppl who spoil things on purpose just to worsen someone's experience - I highily suggest getting someone to filter your comments so it doesnt happen to you.

The show is in shambles past Season 3 because the creator died, Rooster Teeth picked the show to continue but it is mid to shit tier, because they preferred to listen to what the fans want instead doing a canonical route

I really always wonder how people can say this, lol. Seasons 1-3 were good but they hardly laid out a "canonical" story? I get not liking where it goes, but I don't understand the insistence that what they did somehow isn't what the writers wanted to do. The same writers would have been involved either way.... Monty didn't have 100% control over the story, no disrespect to him.
I always dislike seeing this in comments for reactors because for some like me, the story gets amazing season 4 onward when it picks up a direction and cohesive goal. I think they've learned a lot over the course of this project about what it means to create and write a show, and with the increased resources, they can do more. I know people who dislike the show after a point are stuck in their ways, so it's useless to argue, but I do wish y'all would let people decide how they feel for themselves. There is no "sorry" for finding out a show isn't your cup of tea. The worst that happens is, when he hits that point, he agrees with you regardless.
Or maybe I just need to stop reading comments on Rwby reactions XD that could be too.
@@bulletsandbracelets4140 actually you have a point, storywise it is fine, but the ones that is putting me off is the fandoms constantly shoving their ships to RT which make them probably do some changes to the story and perhaps deviating from what monty would want
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against LGBTQ community, but yeah, constantly shoving something that was not suppose to be canon and ended up canon to the show really puts the enjoyment off

The soundtracks be done anytime though it is usually a good idea to finish the Volume before listening to the soundtrack for that specific volume. Even though the list puts RWBY: Ice Queendom between Volumes 1 and 2, it might be best to wait until after watching Volume 2 to avoid confusion since it sorta covers a bit of Volume 2. (Haven't quite finished watching it myself yet, so I could be mistaken. And in my opinion, the show does get better as time goes on. Glad to see you're enjoying it as well. The 2 girls in Yang's trailer are Melanie and Miltia. They were early concept designs for Ruby and Weiss.
