@@DrewHendersonGuitar I truly believe your talent is at the same level as Segovia, Bream and Parkening. You are an exceptional musical talent. I’m delighted to have found your videos. A long life to you!
Letting God speak through his music was very much Bach's intent, I believe. In his own words: "I play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes them music".
I truly believe that classical guitar belongs to Bach. Giuliani, Sor, Taregga etc are fantastic composers, I can play them for hours by heart, but for some reason, the classical guitar, belongs, to Bach, and he never even saw one.
This is factually wrong in every regard. Bach never was blind, even in his latest years he needed an assistance in order to write and read scores, because his eyesight got worse, but he never lost his eyesight entirely.
I don't know of any guitarist who can make each sound so clear and separate. I think this is simply because the note values are faithfully adhered to the score and the sound is perfectly muted. Due to the structure of the instrument, it is difficult to faithfully follow note values when playing the guitar, but he overcomes this with his amazing technique and concentration. I think it's not only natural talent, but also the result of tremendous effort and practice. I would like to praise this work as a milestone in Bach performance on the guitar, and express my gratitude to this great master.
Oh wow, thank you so much for the very thoughtful comment! I have to admit that the combination of the tuning and guitar made it a lot easier to address purely musical issues rather than technical ones. So very glad you enjoyed it!
Indeed, guitar helps a lot, beeing smaller (I have a similar one), but your technique is awesome! As well your inner feelings that go through your fingers out in the cathedral…
His performance, respecting the author's will and minimizing the claims and demands of players and listeners, is very good. I think that is his understanding and splendor. thank you very much.
Such wonderful playing! For those of us that work outside, with our hands, and are envious of those that can grow their fingernails out to fingerpick, we love watching y'all play!
nothing original, but if you really want to play prosthetic nails work miracles. You have to have the time to replace them often, but they solve the incompatibility with manual labour
Classical music is a treasure trove of emotions, from the passion of a violin concerto to the serenity of a piano sonata. 🎻❤ It's a rich tapestry of feelings waiting to be explored. 🌟🎵
I feel like somehow I slipped into the song and swim in it and dissolved with the song... I believe that guitar doesn't have any limit in expressing Bach. It is such a mature conjunction of deep understanding of life/musicality, at play with a beautiful character. You are a blessed performer. Thank you for sharing. Bravissimo!
I always find this master's output incredible, he can fix my attention on pieces that I'm not that "keen" on. I play as much Baroque/classical guitar as I can, I was not formally trained for long before playing electric guitar in a band, but I do know that Mr Henderson's ability is incredible and hard won. His technique makes me think - This stuff must be so easy to play...... Enough said.
Une magnifique interprétation, une merveilleuse maîtrise de l'instrument, une belle vidéo avec un parfait traitement de son... What else!.... Bravissimo Mæstro, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wonderful performance, you captured that beautiful tone like the great Romantic players Segovia and Christopher Parkening. Loved that you performed it in Church, this is truly Gods music. Bravo and Thank you.
I heard a joke once. It was something like this. Beethoven and Mozart meet in heaven. They ask an angel where god is. She says you mean Bach. He’s over there.

Technically flawless. Precision and accuracy are razor sharp, yet your expression is never sacrificed. I’ve said it before, you are among the upper echelon of contemporary guitarists. When I listen to you, I am reminded of John Williams. Drew, you play with a mastery that is something to be desired by any musician. Absolutely exquisite! Bravo!!!
As a life long guitarist.. what can one say other than.. Stunning technique, amazingly fluent and compelling interpretations of the original works. A masterpiece
I fell in love with this sonata as a young violinist who was also learning guitar. At the time I imagined this piece would sound amazing on guitar but I knew I’d never have the chops to even attempt it, so it remained just a fantasy-an itch deep in the recesses of my brain that never got scratched. Until now. Thank you for bringing this to life and scratching the itch I’d forgotten was even there!
Thank you! A long pause either means i'm making a video for another artist, or cooking up something big! Rest assured I'll keep this channel going indefinitely. I appreciate everyone's patience while I practice this material, and sometimes film it a couple of times.
Love how expressive and dynamic your performances are. The video quality and lighting is stunning! Looking forward to having this on repeat for a long time ☺

@@DrewHendersonGuitar … What is your 7 string tuning? I play jazz on 7 string archtops with Van Eps tuning … Standard tuning for top 6with the 7th (low) string at A1.
This is a masterful rendition and a fulfilling arrangement of a "Sonata". And being that it is "Bach", I can easily put it on an endless repeat!! The capo adds a noticeable tension to the strings that make them ring out with authority. Simply a delightful performance.
Outstanding guitarist, beautiful music, excellent playing and timing, lovely sound, tons of expressions through composure...all in one word: Drew Henderson!

The Stauffer inspired Romantic designed guitar sounds exceptionally good. I think the reverse headstock, Maple back and sides, contribute to the clarity and tonal balance. I thoroughly enjoyed Drew's exquisite playing and musical sensibilities. Bravo!
Beautifully performed😊 Reverse headstock? Isn't that headstock in the usual placement? I'm really intrigued by what appears to an extra free floating low string.... It doesn't seem capped from several angles
@@djimiwreybigsby5263 "Reverse Headstock" is in the sense of String Length. On a traditional Fender Strat, the 6th string has the shortest string length to the tuning peg from the bridge/tremolo unit. On the Stauffer, the shortest string length is to the 1st string. This difference in overall string length makes it possible to get an advantageous string length on the lower strings without having to go to excessively high string gauges.
@@picksalot1 thanks for the string length explanation... But does it really matter when the vibratory string action essentially stops at the nut and bridge... What I really like about this video is how the camera angles reveal an extra free floating low string... Unless my eyes are being tricked; Which is entirely possible at my advanced age... I'm very curious about that instrument :)
@@djimiwreybigsby5263 Yes, it does matter, as string tension is a combination of several interaticive factors, including total string length, string gauge, and tuning pitch. The saddles and nut are just specialized frets. Tuning pitch is a matter of "Scale" length (bridge saddle to nut) and string tension.
