Man I hope Cozy realizes how great he is, it was his genuine personality that got me watching snap videos, which led me to you, and @Alex, my wife and I love watching your streams together. I seriously hope I get to meet you at a convention.
Cozy has the unique perspective of being an extension of the company while also representing the player base. Not an easy juggle. This is what happens when people love something, they want the best for it. Hopefully SD can really add some QOL and major changes before the year is over
Wholesome ending
The funny thing is they already have the ability to turn the card around programmed in the game. All they need to do is show the lore (first appearance, history, some comics which the character is prominent in, where the variant comes from, etc.) which would be a simple png with some text, instead of showing the ugly card backs. Although the research would be extensive, all you need is the same team that does the graphic design to make a card back template and a very small team to come up with the lore which is literally on the marvel wiki and official website.
That last question was beautiful. Great answers on both sides too. I think the key for any young person looking at the daunting task of choosing a career is to realize: 1) nothing is set in stone, you can always change to something that suits you better, you just have to be flexible and seize the opportunities when they show themselves. And 2) find your passion, and if you don't know what your passion is, keep looking.

Sage is the epitome of a card I would be happy to get out of a pack in a normal card game and would have a good time experimenting with, but because of the way progression works I will never waste any valuable resources. She would be a perfect series 3 card.

She's crazy good in a negative deck I consistently get her to 3 20 3 30.
I'm surprised Sage isn't getting more love, I felt like she is a card that's easier to play than Hit-Monkey, and can easily reach Gladiator-like power without the negative effect of pulling one of their card!

I have absolutely found way more uses for sage than I expected to.
I feel like they're really not thinking outside the box on this one. Cozys argument was you're not playing a 5 or 6.. Yeah you put Her in decks you don't run as many 5 and 6s if any.
That's like saying you can't play a 5 or 6 with shadow king.

34:11 After the spotlight system released I always figured the variants are the replacements for the first edition badges.
Badges ?, we don't need no stinking badges . 🤣
It's not really an equivalent replacement though, because the badges were meant to be free to anyone who got the card on release, while with spotlight variants, you have to spend AT LEAST 5 keys or 6k tokens and 1 key (and that's assuming you are lucky and pull the spotlight first try).
I have to say I'm a little bit salty about the badges. There were definitely s5 cards I picked up on release not because they were good, but because I wanted in on the first edition badge (with the hope they would eventually become playable). If I'd known, I would have saved the tokens and probably opened them from spotlights by now (for instance, Kang was one I only got for the badge, and I've subsequently rolled him as my s5 dupe cache twice, which feels super bad every time).
The badges just don't make sense though, with the new spotlight system, because way more people get the card on release incidentally now, so it's not such a big deal. It would have been nice if they'd acknowledged the people who bought s5 cards on release under the old system not getting the badges by throwing us some credits or something though. Just to take the edge off every time I open a dupe Kang.

That last section was beautiful. I've always shared the same opinions on Cozy. He gets too much hate. You can see it in his face he just wants the best for the community and understands he can't be all angry and hateful if we wanna get through to SD. Alex is also amazing. Howard with jubilee/iron lad isn’t copium lol. The cube equity in the decks I use those both in and add Howard goes up a good bit. Just can snap into lad/jubilee so much more confidently
White widows effect from the jump should have been minus 3 instead of 4 , it is a little bit OP

I used sage as a surprise addition to my move deck to drop some decent points with another card final turn. It stole me a few games for sure.
In the defence of Leech, if it doesn't hit your patriot then all the cards get plus 2. Found that out and wasn't as pissed at him.

Howard is actually great. Been putting him in more and more decks lately to help curve out due to Red Hulk
Just play any better 1 drop though? Nebula is also a 1-drop and has a real effect on the game.

A lot of people get real comfy with that untapped add on, yet Howard can do it too. And untapped has definitely still set me up for failure when it's turn 5 or 6, and you wing an iron lad just to hit the one card left that has no ability or something useless like mockingbird
@@justBri123 I’m not sure playing an entire 1/2 eating space in your lanes is worth knowing what you hit with Lad/Jubilee. Not knowing is often still worth playing those cards, but Howard still isn’t really worth using.
Not sure they can find a way to monetize stuff like adding lore. They have not yet shown any willingness to spend dev resources on non-monetizable QoL improvements, sadly.

I'm also someone who was never into comcis, marvel, etc. I was a fan of card games which is what got me to start playing the game. I don't know about 95% of the characters.
Glad to see that heart to heart, Cozy seems like a nice guy and it hurt when there was that episode they talked about monetization and every comment was trashing on him, calling him a shill and a fake, just because he wanted to give the benefit of the doubt to developers that he has met in real life and doesn't want to just demonize them.
My most hated cards are HAM and hazmat. Ham because he is a sniper and always hits my best card and the Wong/haz combo drives me nuts.

Mailbag Question! Are either of you going to try the Arishem Thanos 30-card deck? What would some of your other spicy includes be for this deck?
First game I played against Sage it was over 20 power. Reminds me of Black Panther/ Zola combo play. It's strong, but it can definitely be countered.
Mailbag: How do you feel about a location that brings out a specific card like Monster Island. For example we have Leech Island that spawns leech and we have it as a featured location
Seems needlessly annoying? I mean, we already have Knowhere that restricts where you can play your on-reveals (to go along with Silent Isle for ongoing). I'd rather new locations were fun and interesting. A location that just randomly potentially hoses your entire deck and all you can do is retreat sounds neither fun or interesting. There's a reason locations like Worldship are super rare and still not generally well liked.

Mailbag: How do you fix the 5 series/pool system of 72 cards in 1, 25 cards in 2, 109 cards in 3, 26 cards in 4 and 42 in 5 with pay only season pass card as of 6-4-24?
The only time I bombed with Sage was when I wasn't paying attention to it being on reveal. Fun card and I am glad I got it.

Beautiful day snap crew and community! I will start with the positive, second dinner has done a great job creating a fun and engaging game that meshes Marvel and the enjoyment of collecting beautiful art.
Yet this is offset by such a savage and unnecessary card progression. I have been collection complete for a little over a year, spending about 80-100$ a month to keep it up. Yet the practices of the company towards its card drops and card progression is so toxic I will now only engage in the monthly pass and see how the next 6 months feel. I am thinking pretty great because keys will start opening up a variety of new cards for me and not create such a feel bad. Cheers my friends and always love and laughter in your lives.
Love Sage, winning so much with her in junk, surfer and negative. I play a lot of Ravona though and also Havok so this is my cup of tea! Top 3k infinite.
Personally Im happy with the series drops because I have most cards and I get some of the only ones im missing but I totally get it. Im a simple man, I wanna complete my hipp albums :p
Alex speaking of orchestra from the first part of the cast, Smash Bros Brawl's Opening theme with the EPIC opera singing is magnificent. I completely understand you bro. I think Nintendo is great with that type of music in the boss fights of their games. Try Mario Galaxy's sound track. The Final bowser theme, Gusty Garden theme, and Bowser Galaxy Reactor theme are my favorites.

Mailbag: What do you think about Marvel Snap having a built in ereader & selling comics of the characters in Marvel Snap available for purchase thru the cards themselves?
I think this could help with the monetization of the game, and get people more excited about the characters.
I am a regular negative gamer, and pulled sage in 1 key. I have been satisfied with her all week. Yes it looses to leach and sandman, but that is the nature of combo decks. Sage on 3 doesn't feel as bad as some other turn 3 combo plays. You can absolutely set up a lane with weight widow before hand and get a solid 4-8 power depending on the ops.
I got Sage for bounce, it’s one of my favorite decks to play. Took 4 keys, which sucked.
Mailbag: With series drops, the growth of pool 3, and all cards releasing straight to Series 5 we're all concerned for the new player experience.
Changing gears, how would you guys improve the *returning* player's experience? Someone who has missed a month or two of releases after having a kid or focusing on school. I have many friends who feel too far behind to return 😥
FWIW a recent Team Answers from SD said they're looking at putting together a catch-up package for returning players, so I guess we'll have to see what that looks like. Spotlights seem great for new players (sometimes able to get four s5 cards in a week, that's crazy good when I think back to the old token system where we hoarded tokens for a chance at one s5 card) but if you were collection complete or close to it and took a break, it seems a bit more difficult.

What do you guys think about making Leech disable all On Reveal cards in hand for both players? Would that make some Ongoing decks way too powerful?
Bad idea. The person playing it gets to play around the downside, so you're adding an artificial drawback that in reality is not a drawback. The reality is this will just brick your hand if you're not playing ongoing and you just have to leave. That's not a fun experience, and after a week everyone would be running the same crappy Leech ongoing deck. Good way to completely destroy any diversity in the meta.
Damn, I think you guys are underestimating Sage. She's an essential card in bounce I don't think she's gonna be cut in that deck in two months or whatever... I even think she's better than Hitmonkey a lot of the time, amazing card for bounce.
Definitely just a better Hit Monkey in that deck. I mean, Hit Monkey's not been great in that deck for a while, but Sage still just seems objectively more stats for less effort.

Iplayed and won a game where the opponent played Cable onto Kammar Taj stealing Beast from my deck to Beast Cable and play it again they took and played in addition to my beast in order, my Nico , Bishop and Mysterio. I had a lot of Demons instead of a deck. Plus Hit mo key and Sage 👍

Sage has been my favorite 3 drop plug in card. No one expects her at all. The clutch on so many games I’ve had was insane.
I pulled Darkhawk from a Catch the day he was released. That was some serious luck.

They should re work havoc to match electro where it’s just minus 1 energy each turn instead of the weird arithmetic of the turn changes
That would make him crazy powerful! He would be a 2/20 and you could still play a 5 cost card on 6 (meaning you could Blink into a 6 drop and pretty much negate his downside).
Besides, there's no "weird arithmetic". Most of the time, it's as simple as however much energy you had on the turn you played him, that's your max energy for the rest of the game.

also shout out to my luck of getting jeff form a random series 4/5 drop back when i was only like 1600 collection level, that was the only lucky thing that has happened to me in this game lmao
Exactly this - this is what people aren't getting. Most people are spending their resources on the spotlight system and it does a pretty good job of getting good cards into the hands of gamers but it feels terrible when you open something like Howard from a spotlight cache. They _should_ be focusing on dropping those bad cards to get them out of the pool, so that there are fewer feels bad moments when you're spending resources. It will still feel bad to open Howard from a cache for free, but at least it didn't cost you a key.
I've listened to people complain for a year now about how Howard still isn't s3 despite being terrible, and when they finally announce that he will be dropping to s3, they complain about that too! Gamers are a special breed, anything that doesn't translate directly to "give me all of the things all at once right now for free" is always demonised, and yet if SD ever did that, they'd just get bored that there was nothing left to chase and the game would die (RIP LoR).
Mailbag: Alex if you haven't give a listen to the Disco Elysium soundtrack. Such a masterful piece of art for an incredible game.

the auto battler rant.... lol im 100% with yall, auto battlers are kind of my jam, for the same reason i like snap im pretty sure. (the locations make every game different)
The only card that makes me retreat immediately in this meta is Pixie. It's kind of like worrying about what card Cable drew, except instead you worry whether on turn 5 they're gonna play 10 power's worth of cards or 15.
Sage is werewolf back to 3 cost away from being just fine. The meta varies a lot and can be turned on its head on an ota’s notice now

I have never been a comic reader, I never got into the movies, but yet I love Marvel Snap and I love the art aspect as well. The primary reason I played was because it scratched my itch for card games and it's very quick games. Get in and get out. The perfect combination for a busy dad who can't get together with buddies to play magic anymore lol
I was able to get sage legion variant and living tribunal, I had one key and I got living tribunal so I’m not complaining here 😂😂
Mailbag: Do you think they will ever drop Series 3 cards to Series 2 cards or starter cards for new players? If they were to do that, what cards would you want to see added to Series 2 and below?
My picks...Agent Coulson should be a starter card and so should the rest of the Shield based random card generators. Because it would give you the chance to play with so many different cards before spending in game resources on going for them.
Speaking of series drops...I believe at this point, they are going to be standing their ground on the Knull and Darkhawk being unspoken "mini" bads as perma-Series 4 cards
Pour one out for me I bought Sauron back in the day for 6k tokens because they told us First Edition badges would be a thing.
At least Sauron was in a top meta deck for a while and is still pretty good. I bought Kang. I thought, surely they'll fix him to be playable eventually, and then I'll have my first edition badge. Wrong on both counts so far.

As someone who started playing in December of last year - yes, Series 3 absolutely sucks to experience. I am a bit over 4k CL and I’m still missing 15 Series 3 cards. The length of time it took to get Deadpool for destroy was insane - I got Knull AND Nico before I got Deadpool. Absurd. Not to mention Destroy being pretty weak now. Even though I think Series 4 and 5 access is very frustrating and glacially slow, there’s at least *selection* there, but S3 has none of that and makes for a really awful randomness that takes months and months of waiting for a card to finally randomly appear and there’s little to do to help it - other than SD expecting you to buy their For You bundles that sell you a base S3 card and some random currency😭
s4 and 5 glacially slow... gamer you have no idea. Back in the pre-spotlight days the best we could hope for was one single s5 card per week at the cost of 6k tokens and then a 0.25% chance of opening one from a cache (if you can't envision how low that was, I was about 8k CL when the old system went away and I never opened a single s5 card from a cache). The alternative was that you just hoarded tokens and hoped for series drops, meaning you didn't get to play with the new cards for months, and card release day just wasn't exciting for many people who didn't get to experience it.
New players now can potentially open 4 in a week with spotlights. You might _think_ the new system feels slow because you have nothing to compare it to, but trust me, it's like lightspeed compared to the old system.
As for s3, obviously there were fewer cards in s3 back then, so you'd open them all quicker, but I think I was still around 3.5k CL when I finished s3, and that was with buying the season pass and a few bundles, still took me maybe 4-5 months, so yeah it's always been a bit of a grind and could probably stand to be a little quicker.
@@TheDelinear I’m sure it sucked back then too, but that’s why things got changed. Doesn’t mean it’s not abysmal now as well, just not the junk it was then. Even with the knowledge of what the experience was like back then, it doesn’t change that it’s still glacial now after all. Seems obvious SD wants it this way though, or at least wants to set the expectation a new card costs $10 a pop if you’re trying to spend!

People hated big game hunter in Hearthstone back in the day so it makes sense that Shang chi which basically has the same effect is also hated in a differentcard game.
The big problem with Shang is that his cost is too low so he's an easy include. If you look at Cannonball and Valk, they're doing similar jobs but they're both 5 costs and have considerable downsides (Valk requires a lot of extra setup to win the lane and just eats it to ongoing, Cannonball only hits one target and has deckbuilding considerations, Shang can kill up to four 10+ power cards with zero downside).
There's no reason Shang should be playable on turn 6 alongside Shadow King to be able to kill two lanes with tech cards. It was even worse when Shang was often a 3 cost thanks to Zabu. Thankfully his win-rate has dropped since the cat got nerfed, because at the time he was in every deck and it was getting silly, but I'd still like to see them try him at 5 cost with a bit more power. A card with such a powerful effect and no downside _should_ have a high cost, so that it's a hard choice to put it in your deck. If he'd never existed in the game before and was released today, people would be freaking out that he's a better Valk and Cannonball and only a 4 cost.
When resources are so scarce, amd keys are so hard to come by. It's hard to justify potentially 4 keys for cards like Sage
Not everyone plays hela using the standard net deck that floats around all the top deck lists. Hela is a fun card that can be played in several different ways.
A few people playing bad versions of the best deck doesn't necessarily mean the card is fine, either. I'm an aficionado of fun but bad decks, I played Hela, Negative and Phoenix Force all of the time when they were bad decks, but whenever they have been too powerful I've always been first in line to say they need to be addressed. Hela was fine as a meme deck, but when it becomes a serious competitive deck, it's bad for the game. Hela is a feels bad deck to lose to because it often comes down to pure luck - you're not outsmarting an opponent by thinking through their play-lines and playing around them, you're winning a coin flip. Even if I beat Hela, I don't feel like I learned anything useful or got any better at the game, I just feel like the RNG tipped in my favour. And then the other problem is that often the numbers are so big, you have no chance to beat them and you just have to retreat. It's just a terrible, unfun experience that's ultimately not good to be a top deck in the game. Relegate her back to meme status and I'll happily rejoin you in playing silly Hela decks.

I relate to both of you i love marvel but theres so much i dont know about marvel. So seeing some of these cards and new cards comin out im like who is that? Then i happen to be watching a marvel movie and see characters and im like oooh i have that card and then i learn about that character a lil more and im able to point out characters i never realized or paid attention to in marvel movies/shows

I could deal with the whole "good cards don't drop" policy if we were still receiving monthly series drops. They are introducing 5 or 6 new cards every month, why are we not in a cycle where they also drop 5-6 cards to series 3 and 4 every month? I understood at the beginning of Spotlight caches they needed to grow the number of Series 4/5 cards for the system to work. But it's been almost a year with this system, they have enough series 5 cards.
Around 64 new cards each year and and you'll be lucky to get 12 series drops.
