    Plus, there is the fact that Nolan is shown to be aware enough that if he were actually alone, he would have cuffed him to something solid or whatever the correct call for that situation is. He went in there with her with the mindset that he had backup, and no matter the speeches about them not being there, the fact is they are, and their being there will affect the reactions and choices of the rookies

    Naw you have to understand the reason on why Lucy even arrested that guy.
    Yes, peeping tom laws exist and that covers the act of video taping someone changing which, is a crime of itself regardless. That is what the guy did and worse still, the woman was a teen, a literal underaged person. That's 2 crimes in one where he's invasion of someone's modesty and also pedophilia.
    Also, yes, Lucy smacking the door on him was abit harsh considering he wasn't of any major bodily threat to herself nor Tim but here's the thing... He resisted arrest cuz Lucy did use the loudhailer to announce that they're the police and instead of stopping, he bolted. He already attempted to flee and resisted arrest so that's one way to stop a fleeing felon. Not orthodox but again, in some PD, not punishable cuz he ran away from the cops. Unless the guy stood still and Lucy doorslammed him then that's a punishable offence but if he flees, no.

    • @OnlyCops
      @OnlyCops  Місяць тому

      I agree that the changes for the peeping Tom part and her being underage wouldstick, I stand by arguing that Chen's use of force was unreasonable and would (if this was real life) would have led to discipline for misconduct

    • @MrLolx2u
      @MrLolx2u Місяць тому

      @@OnlyCops Not really. Again, if he didn't flee from them, sure. Chen would definitely be marked for repremandation like the one on how she threatened a civilian but for this, it's different.
      The guy ran when she announced that they're the cops. That gives a blanket authority to find ways to stop a fleeing felon. It's almost the same kind of judgement as pouncing on a suspect from a dead run but it's with a car door.
      Again, yes, dangerous and unorthodox but it's not a straight up punishable offence as, again, suspect fled.
      Seen such things happen before with Arizona State Police and even THP where suspects went on a speedy chase, fled from their vehicle and as cops can't dismount quick enough, just went forward and smacked the suspects with their door whilst still moving before stopping, dismount and arrest the suspects.
      So no, not all the time it would lead to a disciplinary. It's only when it comes to circumstances and for this case, again, abit stronghanded but warranted so Lucy actually got reasons to use the door this way.

    • @MrLolx2u
      @MrLolx2u Місяць тому

      @@OnlyCops Plus even if the guy sues, he's getting his case tossed right out the window cuz what he did when the cops arrived was already a criminal offence for one.

  • @London_J
    @London_J 6 місяців тому +8

    Something I will never understand is, LAPD is very clear how to report a shooting on radio. "7 Adams 18, shots fired, officers need help." Then give the location. You don't call backup code 3, that is very redundant sometimes they will also verbally request an Airship and a sergeant which is also redundant
    In the episode where officer Bradford is shot, the first season, Lucy Chen puts out the call exactly how it is supposed to be. Then she adds "please send help right away"
    No real life rookie would make that mistake.

One thing I should mention. Each season covers multiple cases as they develop simultaneously and it’s not like law and order or something where they find the bad guy by the end of an episode. For the peeping tom scene, I cant remember the case, but I'm pretty positive there is legal precident for headlong flight at the sight of police being PC for at least detainment, even with no other indication of a crime yet occuring. Dude clearly looked at her when she sounded her siren, and the proceeded to run when he was previously stationary before he became aware of police presence, so I think it could be articulated against any claim of impromptu cardio. And between the siren/lights and her calling over the PA for him to stop while he continued to flee, she should have resisting pretty easy.

    Can the guy just come walking in and demand to use her Rookie for whatever purpose he want,shouldn't he need to go higher up on the food chain getting green light for that??
    Also. Wouldn't that be helping the lawyer for the other team? If he find out a rookie has done the evidence???

    Not sure the theory of where the police are is where crime doesn't happen always works. Try a documentary called Police Interceptors from Channel 5 UK. I think that it would be an interesting idea because I'm guessing that there's a huge difference between the two not just because of firearms. You can even see if Ben Pearson would come on with you as he's a UA-cam personality now but a former British Police Officer

      American officers arrest people without pulling their guns all the time, the issue I have is them tasing people who have guns in their hands or OCing a dude with a knife. Even in European PDs you would avoid approaching such an armed person without the lethal option officer on their way.
