      This grill definitely wasn’t built to last. Cheap parts all over it. I haven’t used it in months since the last time I did a high heat cook with it. It turned into a big fire bomb. It’s going to the dump soon.

    Why can't Masterbilt just read everyone's issue with this grill and build it well?

    • @TheBrewQ

      Because then they would have to hike the price up on it and they know that some folks have a price threshold. I don’t use it anymore. It turned into a massive fireball on me. It’s a dangerous grill.

    Nice video! 😂 Lol, After many weeks of research.
    I just purchased the 560 using my points. Then spent $400 plus for stainless mods on the Masterbuilt 560.

    Drinking a Founders All Day IPA Session Ale while enjoying watching you work on the mods! Good to modify/protect it while it's new and too far gone this way you can use it and love it for alot longer! That thing is pretty awesome! it's as tall as you! I have learned more about grills from you than anyone else I have ever known. That back vent flow is ingenious! I think every single thing you have done makes perfect sense!

    My guess is, you just cracked the firebrick to smithereens. I wouldn't recommend beating on the original liner. Especially since the mod liner slips down inside it.

    • @TheBrewQ
      @TheBrewQ  7 місяців тому +1

      The firebrick is some kind of foam and not actual brick. The liners are designed to break down over time as well so I wasn’t too concerned about that. I wasted money on this grill tho. It turned into a ball of fire and is now in the landfill somewhere. The grease management design of it leaves a lot to be desired.

    Thanks for this video. I'm glad that guy makes these mods but he does a terrible job showing off what some of them do. And the pictures on his site don't really help. So a video like this showing them off in this way is really helpful. This is the only video so far that I've seen that has the mod for the fan protector and the ash grate.

      Well, they aren’t actual bricks but more like a fire resistant fiberglass I believe. They do deteriorate with time as the metal plates rust away. There doesn’t seem to be any concern for cracking them or anything

    I find it hard to justify $315 on a $499 grill. Why extend the life of the grill when you could almost just purchase it again?

    • @TheBrewQ
      @TheBrewQ  3 роки тому +3

      That’s a fairly reasonable logical thought. But what if you extended its life beyond 3 or 4 grills’ lifetime? Not saying it will but it might.

      I’ve had this grill for 2 years and I can say this. The idea of it is awesome and the food it cooks is great. But the quality of components on it are junk. Lots of issues with the electrical and the basic materials it is built from. Sad really because I love the thing.

  • @Atekcs

    $315 for these mods!? No way. A new 560 is only $399. I’m taking my chances and can replace pieces as needed. Way cheaper than spending $315 SMH

    • @francescocampisano2226
      @francescocampisano2226 3 роки тому +7

      The cost of a replacement firebox is $30 from Masterbuilt. There haven’t been any reports of the firebox fire brick actually failing. Just the metal shims they claim are there supposed to be for shipping purposes and are meant to burn off. The manifold could easily be covered with foil for pennies on the dollar for what you paid for the cover. A foil pan or empty tin can can be used as a water pan. A few metal skewers could be used for a grate mod to reduce coal falling. You spent probably just about or more than half the cost of the grill or even as much as the grill on clearance around your area. I warned you in the unboxing video to not waste your money. But if you feel better by having the mods, peace of mind is priceless. There hasn’t been any real proof the mods will prolong the life of the grill, just speculation by those selling mods (trying to line their pockets) and those that bought them, trying to justify spending that amount of money, or UA-camrs that got them for free to help promote sales. Sorry. I’d rather spend the money on meat than mods. The metal is cheap in the grill and will eventually rust, with or without the mods. You’ll see for yourself in time.

      @@francescocampisano2226 I´ve been working as a purchasing manager for a stainless steel manufacture in Germany for about 5 years. I agree, it make no sense to mix up different steel types and for sure, all these mods are to expensive. The only thing that seems to be a real good improvement is the manifold cover for cleaning purposes. Realistic price for the cover seems to be 10 to 15 ....
