  • A short clip from my documentary titled "The Archaeological Paradox". Portable Rock Art is intended to be hand held and the belief is some of these pieces were made by the light of a fire.
The feature length documentary will premiere in the fall at Celebration Cinema in Grand Rapids, MI

Hi Chris! I hate to be the one to even mention this taboo term but you seem to have the best grasp on this topic out of anyone I've seen on the internet. Here goes: I often have trouble discerning between "peridolia" and authentic portable rock art. Especially when it comes to faces in rocks. Are there any tips or methods that you have that help you discern the difference? I'm in no way saying that I think any of what I saw in this video was paradolia but in my own experience I've been reluctant to share certain finds with the proverbial world due to my own insecurities when it comes to my judgment. Thanks Chris! Keep up the work because I love it and I think a lot of people do!

I am no Chris Penney but I use a couple of methods to determine art from nature. Types of stone used, signs of tool use, familiar shapes and seeing more than just human faces. I try to find the shark, the bear, the owl, the eagle, the canines and primates on every rock. It's all about perspective on how you view the rocks. This is an ancient forgotten language that we are trying to decipher, it's not random at all. Keep your eyes looking for the patterns

I found mine buried 6ft deep and the slabs were all stuck together with mud that is actually art as well. I have proof, thousands of pieces with the mud still on some and most are still in the ground

I love finding them in creek beds that have eroded and left them in plain site. I have a mini zoo on my windowsill.

They worship mushrooms, starfish, and clams. Our brain is one of those crinoid things that attached itself to a starfish and had mushroom hands then later clams for hands and feet. There used to be a mushroom on top of the Sphinx, these rocks will tell you a story it’s a trip

I keep seeing the disaster story. The mountain is on the turtles back. It looks like an avalanche or lava coming down the mountain. Every direction turned shows all the animals on the rock, and man and woman also.

These are natural stones. Clouds often look like faces and such but they're obviously natural formations. Same with these rocks, sometimes things just look like faces, especially when theres a lot of them sitting around, like rocks. Makes way more sense

Collective illusions work both ways. There are people who see faces in rock that are not there. There are others who don't see faces in rock that are there. The consequences of our beliefs often affect how they are formed. Once we have chosen a story to believe in fear of being wrong makes us cling to it and only see the world in the way that it fits with it. Whatever we see that is ambiguous enough to allow us believe it fits within our prior assumptions, we will see it as such. The greater the penalty for being wrong, the less we will be willing to admit it. Rock art collectors and Archaeologists have different pressures that often influence the stories thru which they view the truth of these rocks and other materials. It isn't that rock art collectors are crazy or that archeologists are elitists. It's just that they are human beings like all of us.

I have found a way to clean these and can prove they are way more sophisticated then they appear here. Is there someone I can talk to? I think this will change the world thinks about the ancient people before our time.
    Thank you

There are blogs. I think one is called astrology. Portable rock art museum also had a lot of info. This is an ancient language and we are beginning to read it.
