How to Grow your own Mistletoe

- Mistletoe is such a lovely plant to have around the home at Christmas. In this episode I'll share with you the interesting way it grows and replicate what the birds do in my allotment garden. Give it a few years and maybe I'll be able to the mistletoe back to the florist who I originally bought it from - she did ask!

Very interesting indeed Katrina. I'm going hunting for mistletoe tomorrow to try this out for myself.
Lots of kisses.
That grows prolifically around here. My neighbor just recently hired a tree service to prune all of it out of his oak trees. It'll be back.
I see the Mistletoe Marble moth is a “priority species in UK biodiversity plan” so that’s super to grow! They need that mistletoe
Mistletoe isn't overly common here in The East Riding of Yorkshire but that said there are 2 growing in Willow outside our village hall, and 5-6 in a large Hawthorn in a field I sometimes run through, but best of all one growing low down in an apple tree in a neighbour's garden opposite my cottage which I can see from my upstairs window.
I have 2 plum trees in my garden which I keep meaning to try and establish Mistletoe in,so thanks for the inspiration. If February is the best time, that's when I'll give it a go.🙂
I did mine the other day. I've done this several times over the years no luck yet. But I keep trying.
Happy new year and 2024 will be a successful year for you 😊
Sounds like it takes real patience to try to grow mistletoe.I hope the seeds germinate
Oooh. I love the idea of my own missletoe. It's so expensive at a garden centre.
Yes, expensive and hard to find! I bought this little bunch from a florist who when I explained my intentions, asked if she could buy some from me. Give it a good 6+ years and I might be back 😂
I was wondering if that's possible. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best for 2024
Patience I don’t seem to have many, but I wish you the fruits of your patience. Thanks for your share. 👍❤️😊
Mistletoe isn't quiet as popular or common here in the US though North America does have a native species. Not that it means much but i have only ever found it growing on Red Maple trees. Nevertheless it's a super cool plant! Have you considered marking your seed sites somehow? I'll definitely keep tabs on this so good luck! The green polish looks like a good color for you by the way...
Great to see you back so soon love the idea
So interesting, have never seen this before Katrina ♥️
My parents put some seeds in there apple trees 5 years ago , Earlier this year they noticed a very small mistletoe plant growing I hope youve got lots of patience lol
FIVE YEARS?! Oh my gosh 🤣🙈
Hi Katrina,so nice to see you Xx
Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing. Have a Happy Year. Cheers!
An interesting experiment, i hope it works out.... 😀😀😀
I've always wanted to do this! Good luck, hope you get some nice plants...in a few years time 😀
Nice video
Yes ..... 👍👍🙏🙏
I don't have any on my tress, but some trees in the neighborhood are loaded with it. As for it being too high, here in the states where I live, people just shoot it down. Yes I'm in a very rural area 😊
Every time I've tried it hasn't worked. Another try coming up lol!
I've noticed it growing on a very old Bramley apple tree this year. I'm a bit worried about the tree as parts of it are rotten. I'm not far from you; just up the road in Grantham.
Can you still eat the apples on the apple trees when they have mistletoe on them
I have mistletoe on mine but haven't tried them yet as was unsure
But mistletoe is about 4 yrs old and has a nice bunch of leaves
🙂
Ты очень хороша, собирай шмотки ехай ко мне в Сибирь всё будет хорошо.
I live in the USA where mistletoe looks ugly, taking over my Ash ond Hackberry trees. Eventually, it will kill my trees.
Are you aware that this could kill your tree?
The tree is mature that is very healthy. It wouldn’t kill it but it could weaken it if it becomes heavily established.
Oh, So you'll need a mistletoe if you want someone to kiss you.
thans te video Katrina Good work you the best Top grootjes ✔️🤗🌤️🌿🌡️🧤☕🧣❄️🔥
