WTF is this Crazy Strat Paul Thing From Japan?? || Edwards Inoran (Luna Sea) E-I-85LP Demo/Review
Hey kid, you want to win this crazy Strat Paul thing? Head over to Instagram, follow me and Fret Zealot, comment tagging 3 of your friends, and... yeah, that's it. Winner will be chosen March 28th! Here's the link: instagram.com/agufish. Good luck 🙂
Agufish How much would this actually be worth if someone were to buy it?
I kind of wish I had 3 friends now.
Shipping to argentina? Or only usa?
L'm in I'd love to have that Edwards ! Thanks for the chance !
Great video bro. I'm a new guitarist I really enjoy your videos, they're very informative.👍👍👍
Idk how I feel about those LEDs. They kinda look cheap and make the guitar look overall more like a toy rather than a serious instrument. Cool idea though.
An original name i agree
It is very undisirable
They're meant to be a training device though. Not a permanent fixture.
@@iwearvelcroshoez It's a stick on thing that is used for people who are learning. Apparently you can program just about anything into it's software, it tabs but on your guitar/
What do u consider a serious instrument?
Haha, I kind of get what you mean, but it's so useful. Out of curiosity, how would you change it to make it look less "toy-like" while still keeping the core of the concept intact?
If you have not heard Luna Sea's music, you need to. Truly an unbelievable band.
Honestly I dig Inorans Fenders and Sugizo's signature models a lot more than this guitar.
Sir i am trading for a Esp Edwards E CL 90 Sugizo Signature Series Made in Japan, do you have insights about it?
Guys check out Luna Sea's music and Sugizo's guitar solo. Just brilliant
btw Sugizo's guitar is much more wacky but beautiful 💩
btw great Luna sea style demo
Man as a Luna Sea fan it’s weird to see someone soloing on Inoran’s guitar, seeing as he is a 100% rhythm guitarist. Still sounds great though.
I don't think it's that weird. Inoran is essentially the lead guitarist on a song like "GRAVITY". Sugizo may be playing the solo on that song, but aside from that, Inoran has all the memorable, melodic parts, while Sugizo is pretty much only playing chords. Same thing on "RAY"...
Demo sounds like a Christmas song, plus the lights on the fretboard makes it have a Christmas-y vibe
Cool review as usual Hunter! I dig the Edwards stuff. A friend had an Edwards Jimmy Page LP clone that I got to play. It was a very nice guitar like most if not all the ESP/LTD stuff. Jury is still out on the Fret Zealot for me, but I like the visual cues you get from the lights (ala a poor-man's Fretlight - which I also got to play from the same friend as the JP LP and I really liked it). Whomever gets that Edwards will have a cool guitar. God bless and Rock on bro!
One of my favorite demo songs you've written hunter like it's so chill and nice
Your demo sounds so good, didn't know you also have a thing for pop rock
Metal's my absolute favorite, but it's not the only thing I listen to haha
Sweet!! Very cool how you got to review a guitar from one of my favorite guitarists from a band I love.
OMG u reviewed an Edwards!!! If u can please do the Sugizo signatured edwards, he is Luna Sea's lead guitarist!!
I've often wondered what that config would look like on a single cut. I'm not disappointed.
Minor criticism here, whilst I appreciate that the OD tones might be lackluster it'd still be nice to hear a bit more of them in the context of the mix. The same thing happened with the 5w JC head if I recall. Anyway, still a great video.
That thing sounds phenomenal. It's like the best of both worlds. Love it
it's more than 20 years old, it was released circa 1992 (I have one).
LUNA SEA's music is just timeless. It's what got me into playing guitar.
I'm just glad Fret Zealot found the right reviewer before completely giving up on UA-cam.
Those don't even sound like single coils.... they sound like 1/4th of coils
Lipstick tone imo
Edwards is ESP's best brand.
LUNASEA are a great band, just now seeing your review of this cool guitar Inoran uses. Great.
Edwards is a great brand but I wouldn't compare them to LTD ! I own a pink Edwards Arrow and the quality is as good as the E-II Arrow, but with a lower price tag.
i'm also a big fan of Luna Sea!
isn't edwards part of the same group as esp-ltd? they make the same models!
@@eddyguizonde401 Edwards makes ESP original shapes like FRX, Eclipse and almost identical copies of Fender and Gibson
@@eddyguizonde401 the traditional guitar shape department of ESP, more or less ;) and yes, their current models are great
can agree edwards is at the same levels of feel as esp
IMPORTANT CORRECTION: Edwards is higher quality then LTD. Edwards is made only for the Japanese Market but the quality is above LTD and right below ESP Standard. I live here in Japan. The quality is top notch.
It's an interesting concept, I've always been a big fan of the les paul shape over the strat shape(my main axe is a prs sc 245) and this is the best of both worlds
LUNA SEA!
Japan made guitars are awesome!! Edward, Tokai, and more. If you are looking for good quality, great sound guitars; however, have some limited with the budget, try to get some Japan made guitars.
I have an Aria Pro single cut with 3 single cool sized hot rails *all* with cool tap mini switches (my own mod).
Something about a single cut, triple humbucker/single coil tremolo’d Guitar is creatively empowering. The Duncan rails with switches is definitely all this needs for me to fall in love.
I am all about off-the-wall guitar mashups, so this baby was always going to be up my street - especially with a name like that. But that chill mix at the start? SOLD
if only i had three friends on insta
Guitar tone knocked me on my ass. It's a beast.
St Anger riff? Ballsy
I'm totally third! Make Frankenfish my axe happen! Anyway, I'm a big fan of your vids. I feel like you do an outstanding job providing information about the various guitars you review, not to mention I love your playing style. Also, did I hear the some kind of monster riff? Or part of it? Lol.
Can't do the full thing on UA-cam in 2019, or Lars might personally hit me with a copyright claim lol
Interesting to see the Solo in the intro play through. Was thinking it was different from what I've heard from any of your videos. Sounded good and different.
Another beautiful composition. Dig it
Grassroots is also a brand from Edwards and I’m lucky to have one. It’s the best playing guitar I have. I can’t explain it. It’s just amazing!
I also play a Grassroots...this one on my profile
I have Edwards E-LP-125SD, the best Les Paul copy I ever had.
YOU HAVE to get your hands on a Daisy Rock Flower guitar and load it with new parts, itll go so perfectly in your collection
oh god, I'm getting a reputation lolol
Soft Maple is a umbrella term for some species of Maple trees. Its soft RELATIVELY. "Hard Maple" I believe is usually Sugar Maple(someone correct me if I'm wrong). Soft Maple is usually Silver or Red Maple, Box Elder, etc. It's still a fairly strong wood but relatively soft compared to Sugar Maple.
If anyone was interested Haha
I was! Everything else I could find apart from that ad pointed to Alder, so I wondered if it was just a broken English error, like "Mat Purple/Mat Black"
This is correct. The maple we see used for guitar necks and sometimes for bodies is 'hard maple' also known as 'rock maple', 'Eastern rock maple', 'hard rock maple' and 'sugar maple' (Acer saccharum). It's hard enough to be used for flooring, butcher blocks, and baseball bats (Janka hardness 1450ft/lbs, or 6450 Newtons). The 'soft maples' are typically about half as hard - roughly the same hardness as alder - which makes them suitable for bodies, but not necks.
Wah the paint job is awesome
I just ordered my fourth Edwards guitar, I've moved completely away form the majority of my other guitars in favor of Edwards. I have (well had, just used it for another edwards) a savings account set aside for whenever I see one that I can't pass up. I've seen this model and another one like it with a Floyd Rose and always passed them up because I don't care for bolt on necks, having said that, I have no doubt that guitar has a lot of life left in it. and your demo of it was cool. great video
I had a client who wanted me to build him the same type of guitar. I told him to save his money and buy one of these.
Hey Hunter, is that an Ibanez you're playing at 1:04? Lol.
the one and only time lol
Do you have any experience ordering one of these directly from Japan? I've wanted to order an Edward's Explorer for awhile (closest I'll ever get to an mx 250), but I'm concerned about importing a guitar with a rosewood fretboard into the US.
I always enjoy more unusual product reviews (sick of LP's, Strat's, & Tele's), so keep the odd shit coming! :)
Just to say to french people and nearby that Edward is now distributed quasi everywhere.
Je savais pas. Merci :)
@@FairyCRat 😉👍
I always enjoy your music 👍
thanks dude!
From ESP japan website, Edwards nowadays costs a bit more than LTD 1000 series, but way less than E-II. I also saw a photo of ESP japan factory. Edwards is being put in the same rack as E-II. I don't know whether Edwards is assembled or made in Japan.
Did you install those strings?
Are the lights not gonna get in the way a bit when you eventually get that refret done?
But this brand is legally available in my country.
Here in Paris there is a guitar shop named Metal Guitar who is the official distributor of Edwards guitars for the France.
They even have endorsed some bands.
(Sorry for my bad english)
What are you using on your headstock? They look like capos. And are they to provide better tension on 3+3 headstock shapes?
jimmy clip
1:39 25.5" Scale length
10:56 24 3/4" Scale length
So which one is it? ;)
Anyway, pretty.. interesting guitar.
LOL copypasta error. it's 24.75"
SOME KIND OF MONSTERRR
I've just know that Inoran's signature is also LP-look-alike Stratocaster as well. Sugizo's later signature guitars are Stratocaster down to specs, but with Les Paul look and set neck joint. The ESP versions has Seymour Duncan pu on them.
Inoran has moved on to Fender.
Sugizo uses P90s on every signature guitar nowadays, not Strat-style single-coils. His only guitar with Strat-style pickups is his "Save Syria" Fender Strat, as far as I have seen during recent concerts
NICE VIDEO
Beautiful guitar
If anyone remembers the infomercials for Esteban guitars, he put out a L.P. with strat single coils. They are pretty cheap if you can find them
Hey Agufish, I was wondering if you could do a review of the more affordable version of Joe Duplantier’s signature San Dimas style 2 from Charvel. I really like Gojira and would love to see that guitar on your channel. I know the guitar is an older one, but I really want to see you review it, thanks!
“Stealing from multiple sources is not copying; it’s inspiration.”
I have the other one Sugizo S-1 Eclipse. With 3 Lace Sensor singles and a Floyd Rose. Plays fine.
Looks very similar to an Epiphone Nighthawk to me. Cool vid !
Are you the one that bought this off of reverb? ive been looking at thing thing for months trying to bring myself to buy it haha
hahah yeah. It was too good a price!
That's uh, some kinda monster you have there. ;)
Soft maple is not unheard of for body wood - for example, the Jerry Cantrell G&L Rampage is soft maple, George Lynch ESP Kamakazes were made from maple and I think the early Hetfield ESP Explorer-style guitars were as well.
I would rock it with the leds !!!
I want that so much.
Oh id rock the life out of this guitar and make it a force whealding instrument of pure mana!
... Some kind of monster?
Strat Paul, not a bad name really. Ok im subbin .
Wow. A Les Strat. Also, early!
-Aiko54- or a stratpaul
Christian Productions or a Lescaster!
-Aiko54- lescaster actually has a good wring to it 😂
Someday, try an Edwards Sugizo :)
Those pick-ups are nice
I have Kaoru from Dir en Grey's Edwards Ganesa and it's also in need of a regret. Picked it up in japan but don't play it much due to the frets.
Die used the ESP version of Inoran's guitar in the music video of Dir en grey's Garden.
That solo tho... 🤤 V. Nice
Thanks dude! One of the few that actually seemed to notice that this metal rhythm player actually wrote a solo for once lol...
@@agufish no worries. BTW, good luck with that purple CE, I've been looking since about 2009. Have the black one though...
Great video, can you review the Harley Benton SC 1000
All Les Paul style guitars need a belly comfort carve Period!
Sweet guitar... Nice pup too
Regarding Edwards, I have been doing some research, and it seems like they were partly made in CHina only up to certain year, after which they were fully made in Japan. I think it was around 2012 or so?
I always thought it was the opposite... I know for sure the Edwards factory is still in China. What's unclear, is exactly what else is made there. It's supposed to be partially owned by ESP, and it's supposed to only produce Edwards there. But there's a Chinese brand called Aguda that manufactures small runs of their guitars, and there are rumors that even some E-IIs with the "Made in Japan" stamp on the back of the headstock are even made there, though that's not been confirmed...
Ever tried a crafter county? Or any crafter?
love it, but I gotta say, I think I got an actual gibson les paul that sounds more like a strat than that lol. if you ever stumble upon a 2014 les paul melody maker, crank up the tone to max, and switch it to the bridge pickup. :P the best part is, it doesnt loose the les paul sounds either. since its using dual p90S pickups it still can sound like a more retro les paul. they also are super cheap for a gibson, strongly suggest.
Those pickups sound like a stacked single coil sized humbucker.
Putting the Fret Zealot on a bolt on neck is a good idea since you can just change necks once you master guitar =)
I have a current Edwards bass, some sort of signature model, but I don't know the artist. It is great quality.
It’s a cool guitar, just wish it was actually available. Seems like something I would enjoy but them not being available in the states is lame. I like the idea of the LED system if it helps someone for sure.
Yeah it sucks that you can't try them out in person, but check the Reverb link, there are plenty of these up for grabs on the store! Sometimes they're even available with free shipping :)
Dat sustain thooooo
How dare you play a St Anger's riff ??? JK
Not jk
11:36 is that some kind of monster?
I really want one of these Edwards LP Strats! Too bad shipping from Japan to England is a nightmare! Not to mention expensive....
Dude when r u gonna demo the Ibanez axion series
Review hide from X-japan guitar please
Woaj! Just realized someone’s already made the Les Strat Joke! Sorry Katastrophic!
whats the scale? and can you compare in with a regular strat? otherwise it makes no sense.
Helmut Simson you could always watch the part of the video where he says what it is...
To be fair, I messed it up by copy-pasting the text format of the specs from another video. In the demo track, I wrote it was 25.5", but then at around the 10 minute mark I said it was 24.75", so I can see why it was a little confusing. It's 24.75", like a LP lol
please do a studio tour
Nice Les Strat
Oh man this thing is hideous. Great video as always, though!
1200$ is an more affordable guitar?
Holy shit im early, last time I was this early, I uhhh
Ive never been this early
LOL. wow. that choke under pressure
The made in China part is partially true, they used to produce the guitars that way but stopped a couple of years ago
Here for Sugizo
I'd give that a shot to learn..
I'm a recovering drummer...
Stay strong, man. Glad to hear you're not to down to give up music altogether. You could be the next Rabea!
I have seen a Gibson Les Paul with 3 single coils.
what is the name of the demo song
