thank you!!! this dryer has the loudest, longest, most frequent and obnoxious alarm EVERRRRRR however long you think it beeps for, add six more seconds
If I knew you, I’d send you a gift basket. I’m jealous yours only went for 5 seconds. Mine went for almost 10 seconds 3 times!! It should be criminal to have a buzzer this loud and this repetitive. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I never have to hear that buzzer again 🙏🏼
Well, Thank you. always happy to help! I've thought a lot about this stupid buzzer. I can only imagine that it is as loud and long as it is because some people place their washer and dryer in the garage or basement where they can't be heard. I grew up sleeping in the basement, the washer and dryer were only inches away from my bed and my mom washed/dried clothes at night. I have no idea what I would have done had I been forced to endure that noise every night while trying to sleep.
Thank you man🙏. The very first time I heard that alarm go off I was like, yea…that’s gotta stop. I have no idea why they don’t have an on/off button on the front. It’s obnoxious.
Bought one today. Dried some small blankets but the disbelief at how long that buzzer was. I chuckled on my way over thinking we gotta shut that off. My laughter turned to horror when i realized i had just bought a dryer that if i run after 9 pm the law may be called. This video will be put into practice immediately. 😂😂
Just got one of these units for the apartment from the landlord. Can confirm the thing is louder than the damn U2 coming to base to land. Thank you very much for this!
Thank you so much for SHOWING the actual process. There are so many videos out there that skip over taking the metal piece off and I had no clue how to do it. Your video is the most helpful out there. Thank you again!
Your welcome! A couple of days ago my son's car had a O2 sensor issue. I watched a number of videos about how to get it out. So far all of the videos skip how to unplug it from the sensor, I still can't get it out. It drives me nuts and that's why I show the whole process or as much as I can.
THANK YOU!! I jump every single time this buzzer goes off even after two months of having it. There's no getting used to this sound! My husband, my cat, and I are very happy to have a solution. We're expecting a baby soon, and I was worried about disrupting nap time! You're our hero.
I just bought one of these dryers the other day and it literally scared the crap out of me when the buzzer first went off. Thank you for the info! This is on my “to do list” before the day is over! Lol
I was about to dissect this dryer to locate this miserable buzzer; it drives me crazy every time it goes off, to the point that I wish I could throw the dryer from my 2nd floor, haha. Shame on the engineer who designed this machine! How can someone go to university for years and end up creating such an annoying machine? Was he working in a noisy environment and couldn’t hear the buzzer properly? I mean, what the heck! Then I thought about coming to the oracle to see if there were any videos about it, and BINGO! There’s always a good soul that donates their knowledge to us and helps us solve our daily issues, haha. Thank you so much! It took me less than 5 minutes to silence this little monster with natural unintelligence. 😂
Thank you 🙏. Just had them installed ran the first load i almost peed myself when the dryer buzzed i was already thinking its gotta go back. This is a lifesaver
They should have included an on and off switch for it. I get why they included it - it is because most people put it in a basement and a chime is not loud enough if you are on the ground floor. I would still at least include an on and off switch for it.
Yep, I hear you. Our washer and dryer sit right behind my recliner (in their own room where the dogs sleep). We keep the door closed when washing / drying so we really don't need any kind of alarm. Even at that we still hear them.
Definitely agree! I wouldn't mind if it was a brief, one time signal for like, 0.5 seconds at the END of the dryer cycle. To have 3 alarms on every load that last 5 seconds each at 70 second intervals? Ridiculous.
Your Welcome! I've learned the hard way so I always take picture of, or draw the parts and connections. I was in IT (computer tech) for many years and keeping track of screws, wires and parts is not always an easy thing to do.
I just got this dryer delivered today and it scared the crap out of me. I suppose it was meant for dryers that live in basements but our laundry area is right off of our dining room and I nearly choked on my food.
That's for sure! I did a lot of internet searches before I decided to do this. I could not understand why you could not turn it off. Even in another room with the door closed it drove me nutz.
I really don't know - I do know they MUST be kept separate! - For ME it's just habit. I never leave wires loose. I either tape them or put wire nuts on them. if for no other reason than you don't want an issue later due to a short caused by a wire grounding out. - From what you've told me you have 3 (4) choices. The last 2 can be purchased a some stores or hardware stores and "should" cost less than $1.50 US. If your in the USA the Dollar store has both although they are now $1.25 ea. 1. Do nothing and hope nothing happens 2. Electrical Tape 3. Wire Nuts - small or med 4? Ask a specialist. Someone what actually fixes these things for a living. I'm just doing the best I can for my family - and my own sanity!
I don't believe so but I would use wire nuts instead. If you use tape make sure you unplug the washer, Never let the wires touch any metal and tape them / wrap them good. Problem is that over time tape gets old and comes off.
both I guess or just habit. I never leave wires loose. I either tape them or put wire nuts on them. if for no other reason than you don't want an issue later due to a short caused by a wire grounding out.
This video made it so simple. Yay as a 71 yo woman I was able to do it. Why do dryers have that obnoxious noise or have a turn off button on the front? Thanks.
Your very welcome! I'm just over 60 and I was talking with my brother who is now 70. He still has an older Hotpoint model. He said it has a volume control nob! Why on earth did they get rid of that! I glad I could help.
I get the buzzer for a basement but not everyone has their appliances in the basement. Imagine being in an apartment with a baby! I need to turn this sound off ASAP
Before: BBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!! After: ::::::::Crickets:::::::: The small furry brush animals have returned to our yard now that the dryer has been silenced! My Aunt, our dog, the neighbors and the HOA are all in your debt. Thank you very much!
Not sure if I did somethng wrong but after I posted I found out disabling the buzzer also disabled the timer--has anyone else had this happen? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
This alarm sucks. At least GE could have mentioned (in their product features and alerts) that this model includes an ALARM/buzzer that is perfect for basement use because the alarm is offensively loud. And, that a substantial number of users including those with young children, pets, and even many elderly could be disconcerted or worse, as a result of the excessive and startling BUZZER. Otherwise, the dryer appears to work well. I might even recommend it to others (with the caveats above out of respect).
I agree, Mine sits in it's own room and is about 10 feet from where I sit to watch tv and or play video games so when it was going off it drove me nuts. This also got me to act and start trying to figure out if I could shut it off or muffle it some how. My wife said I was welcome to just unhook it. After doing a lot of online searching and not being able to find ANY information I decided to read an online manual and schematic, I found and I unhooked it. That's why I made this video. I knew and know that I'm not the only one who would like them to put a volume switch on the buzzer.
Haha awesome.. doing the exact same thing on my dryer today.. finally decided to tear into this thing after listening to it for a few weeks because omg it's the worst noise ive ever heard and incase you were in a different state and missed it the first 2 times dont worry it'll go off again... Turns out i guessed correctly which part was the buzzer but truely appreciate being able to see it work before i break mine permanently so thank you for the tutorial sir very much appreciated 🤙👍👌🙏✌️😎

Just moved to a new place and bought this washer and dryer. It’s unbelievably loud. Thank you for the tutorial!

I have a toddler and this alarm is ruining my life... 😂 it wakes her up ALL THE TIME!
Thank you man🙏. The very first time I heard that alarm go off I was like, yea…that’s gotta stop. I have no idea why they don’t have an on/off button on the front. It’s obnoxious.
I can not agree more

This is my exact dryer!😂 It's driving my family CRAZY! Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for this. I’ve had this washer and dryer way too long and have been enduring the annoying buzzer no more.
I'm glad it helped!
Thank you 🙏. Just had them installed ran the first load i almost peed myself when the dryer buzzed i was already thinking its gotta go back. This is a lifesaver

Many thanks for posting, just tried your fix and it was quick and super easy. Suggesting labeling the wires and connections very good idea.
Your Welcome! I've learned the hard way so I always take picture of, or draw the parts and connections. I was in IT (computer tech) for many years and keeping track of screws, wires and parts is not always an easy thing to do.
Absolutely tremendous. Simple and quick. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video brother. Made this alot quicker for me.
No problem 👍
Thanks! You saved my last nerve and my dogs’ too.
Yes, peace at last!
Thanks so much! This has been driving me insane! 😂
Your welcome, glad I could help
I just got this dryer delivered today and it scared the crap out of me. I suppose it was meant for dryers that live in basements but our laundry area is right off of our dining room and I nearly choked on my food.
I know the feeling.
I kept saying... "you've got to be kidding"
That is a lockdown, end of days, ridiculously loud buzzer! I just close my laundry room door. Nobody believes me that there isn’t an on and off switch
That's for sure! I did a lot of internet searches before I decided to do this. I could not understand why you could not turn it off. Even in another room with the door closed it drove me nutz.
Do I have to wrap them after? I don’t have any electrical tape
I really don't know - I do know they MUST be kept separate!

Does disconnecting these wires affect in any way the drying cycle?
Thank you!! That thing was killin’ me. And one mini jolt as a reminder to myself when doing anything with electricity- unplug it first! Whoopsie. ⚡️
Good idea! Glad I could help
THANK YOU for this video. Those goddamned Hotpoint buzzers are AWFUL! Will disconnect them today.
welcome
omg - thank you!!!! That thing drives me crazy!!
Your very Welcome!
Dude! Thank you so very much!
Your welcome, glad I could help
there are greats left here this world
Thank you for visiting my channel!
You’re a life saver
Your welcome, glad I could help
@CRPSjon I'm not too familiar with electrical work, is there any risk of fire after covering live wires with electric tape?
I don't believe so but I would use wire nuts instead. If you use tape make sure you unplug the washer, Never let the wires touch any metal and tape them / wrap them good. Problem is that over time tape gets old and comes off.
Is the electrical tape necessary or did you just use it in case you need to put the wires back on?
both I guess or just habit. I never leave wires loose. I either tape them or put wire nuts on them. if for no other reason than you don't want an issue later due to a short caused by a wire grounding out.

Thank you!
You're welcome!
You need to put more tape. You still have energized exposed copper on those connectors.
Probably true. I usually use wire nuts and prefer them to tape since tape gets old and sticky with time and heat.
Lawmakers should seriously consider banning the use of noisy mechanical buzzers on household appliances in noise control regulations
they really need a on / off button - user selection but that will never happen
I drilled a hole in the back plate and installed a toggle switch.
Good idea!
This is awesome thank you so much!!!!
Your very welcome! Glad I can help
NICE VIDEO! You can also just disconnect "Y" and wrap it up with electrical tape! cheers!
That's a great idea!

LOL,
I got one today and it scared the dog shit out of me in my apartment and I'm pretty sure my neighbors ACROSS THE ROAD could hear it
Those who have never heard this noise have no idea
I regret buying this set. I have only had it for a month and I want to send it back 😫😫😫
Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure how to help or respond. Unhook the alarm, it might make a difference.
Not sure if I did somethng wrong but after I posted I found out disabling the buzzer also disabled the timer--has anyone else had this happen? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
They should be 2 different wires.
lol mines just stopped working after disabling it
It’s so loud and keeps going omg I thought it was just me , my apartment ppl think I’m crazy!
It's not just you! Some 10 Thousand people have watched and liked this video.
