  • This is Part 2 of the Heavy rain saga at Frontenac Provincial Park. Who knew that backcountry camping for the first time could end so badly?
    WHO AM I?
Hi! My name is Khristel. I am a full-time photographer living in Canada, hoping to transition to working more in the outdoors. I am a plus-size gal, who loves to solo travel. However, I do bring my partner along when I can. I want to show the world that women and plus-size Latinas like me can be outside, enjoy nature and travel the world. Can't wait to show you around!

Your video has been inspirational to me. I used to hike Frontenac years ago and my favourite was the Tetsmine loop with a camp at Lynch lake(#12). Unfortunately, I had an accident on that hike about 5 years ago (I slipped and hit my head on a rock...almost broke my neck!). I hadn't hiked or backwoods camped since but just last month I thought I was ready to go again. I tried the Testmine loop to Lynch lake once more but my body said 'nope...not yet!' (I suffered a heat attack 2 years ago and am still recovering) I miss the hiking and backwoods camping so much I really hope I will one day be able to do it again. Your determination of hiking in the rain has given me new hope that yes, I can do it. Frontenac is such a beautiful place to hike and camp (even in the rain!), I love it there.

What an amazing story! I do hope you continue to recover and I feel so humbled to have inspired you. Try other loops. I loved that Frontenac has so many options of which way to go. 😊😊

Hello again Khristel. Congratulations on your hike. I'm so impressed. Indeed, I think you did the right thing to head back to your car. I have hiked the La Cloche Silhouette Trail, in Killarney Provincial Park a number of times. This year I had 8 days of sunshine, but last year I hiked in 2 days of rain. Rain sure makes things challenging.

Rain is sooo tough. I hope to do the LA Cloche one time!
