The new camera looks great! I totally get what you mean about food being your hobby! Whenever I get asked for hobbies/interests during awkward work introductions or interviews I always struggle to say anything else besides "food and eating".
I loved this video Janice💕 ..Really great quality and good food my favourite was the deep fried mushroom,Chicken and icecream 🍦 YES 🙌 please do some Sydney Chinatown videos ..Can’t wait for the next one ..❤️..x
Awesome video Janice. That last dish would be glutinous rice in lotus leaf - lor mai kai. Have a nick name to suggest for you...Fan Tong....rice bin. Becos you love rice so much. Me too. Haha.
Next time you're back in Singapore, have Boon Tong Kee chicken rice. And polish off 3 bowls of the rice....yummy. That was my dinner just now. Haha. Btw....loved your Singapore series....do more ya? ;-)
I live in the suburbs of Canberra and our food options are far more limited than Sydney. We have plenty of Chinese restaurants but apart from a few in the city and a few in our mini Chinatown on the opposite side of town, they are more or less the old fashioned Australian Chinese. Don't get me wrong - I love this stuff - I am, after all a white Australian of somewhat advancing years, but there are some things that my peers might describe as exotic that I would love to try. The one that interests me the most is the numbing spice of Szechuan peppercorns but I just haven't been able to find it locally. Any time a suburban Chinese offers Szechuan Beef, it just turns out to be a wet style, stir fried chili beef to contrast with the deep fried chili beef strips.
Went to burwood when my office first moved there, was super excited but second takeaway there was a cockroach in the spicy dumplings soup and I never will go back
One of my co-worker of our Vancouver office branch brought me to a Sichuan restaurant once and I ate that same fish dish and the cucumbers. That's when I also tried the pig ears. I remember that I felt like if my stomach was containing boiling lava for the next 6 hours! It was very spicy but I really enjoyed the food.
I was a true lover of spicy joint (burwood one ).. went about once a month and one day I went and the food quality had decreased dramatically.. I havent been back since (was about 6 months ago). Did you notice any change in the food quality? Will try go to the haymarket one ASAP and hope it was a one off.
The fried steamed look delicious, but I always choose the fried dumplings, also the fish with chili garlic sauce 🤤😍😍 You should go to Haldon, Lakemba to try some street food 😁
@@JaniceFung It's really cool during the night, where you can try many different dishes from different country 😁, also every year they make a special street food event during ramadan 😊
@@JaniceFung I remember when I was in Sydney many years ago...me and my brother stay in kings cross.,.. As my brother lived in London ...kings cross sound familiar so he picked that area and accommodation... Well a bit of a eye opener for sure....loved all the different foods ....👍💜💜💜😀😀
Best Sichuan restaurant in Sydney is located in Eastwood across from the main parking tower in the middle of Eastwood , go up a steep set of stairs your in the right place .
Thanks for the walkthrough It is as I expected, a pretty average restaurant, and that’s why it’s never occurred for me to go there since it replaced Wagaya So many places to get Sichuan food in Sydney though...
For those who don't know! All the chilli and the spicy is completely fine for Asian level (or Vietnamese for that matter, me.), but make sure to always steer yourself clear from those devil peppercorns. If only mistakenly chew on one, you can then say bye-bye to any flavours for the rest of the night, the numbness kills every one of them. learn it the hard way T__T
usually had mantou with chili crabs but never thought of condensed milk.. that's brilliant.. that sticky rice looks like a upsize version of bak zhang.. very substancial.. why does the cucumber dish is pricier than the noodles and wontan soup?
I had a traumatising experience at Spicy Joint Haymarket in 2019, we had a function here and the manager was absolutely beyond rude. Long story short we overstayed the lunch session of the restaurant, we had no idea as we're in a private room and there was no communication from staff. He pretty much just stormed in and yelled at us to pay and get out. It was my son's full moon party so quite a special family event, and the first time I got out of the house after giving birth. After being treated like this I would never go back.

The video was again great. That sticky rice repelled me. You passed by Old Town Hong Kong cuisine - word of warning the food is swimming in oil and really disappointing. I am sure it was you re the review on Nakano Darling. The mother's day plan was to have dinner there but I drew the line on 2.5 hrs of mask wearing on the train & that was only 1 way so that will be another day. I can't even keep up with the rules. I have walked past Arisun soo many times when I lived at Pyrmont & I know you have have been there but what I saw didn't appeal to me at all but maybe you will have a different take. I use to walk thru that part of China town all the time wondering what does that mean in the Chinese characters - that is discrimination LOL
We need more Janice time!!! One video a week is not nearly enough!!
I’ll try! Thanks Penny :)
omg yes! Love that you're going to different parts of sydney. This video is bombb

I love the spicy chicken dish! We named the chicken dish as a drooling chicken in Japan because when you think of the dish, you can’t stop drooling🤤
This is one of my fav Sichuan restaurants in Sydney 🤤
What are some of the other ones you rate ?
I hope you managed to get to Matcha-ya...I absolutely love that place...their curry and their Yuzu matcha Sosa is delicious ❤️

I wonder who pays for the restaurant bill when you dine out with your family or with your friends?
"I'm just done with work for the day" - I thought you did UA-cam full time. Do you work another job?
'just finished work'? 'which bank?' LOL
