    Thanks for this video! I'm going to be applying for EPIK in February 2024 and have been doing an INSANE amount of research (honestly maybe too much 😅), and I really love getting to hear people's personal experiences and points of view from in the program. Even some of the "cons" you listed didnt seem all that bad to me, so that's quite encouraging! 😂

    Thank you for posting this! I also studied linguistics, did TESOL in university & have been wanting to do this since I was a teenager. I’m in the application process right now & have my fingers crossed about getting to orientation on time. Starting my EPIK journey in August and your videos have been super informative as to what I should expect in just a few months time lol. In regards to the PTO days/ student breaks, what dates did the winter break fall on? And what dates do the summer breaks fall on, if you happen to also know that as well? Love your content! :)

    • @daevin3
      @daevin3  Рік тому +1

      Hiyooo Janella! Thank you for watching!! The days for winter and summer break can vary from school to school. I'm not quite sure exactly what days those breaks will fall on. However, what I do know is that they will fall on around late July, early August and late January to early February. Keep in mind that the school year in Korea technically starts in March, so that's why there's few breaks around those months :)))!

    I recently found your channel and really like the way you show your days as a teacher, and I think this style of video is a great addition. I'm going into my junior year and double majoring in Linguistics and Asian Studies, and I hope to study abroad at Yonsei this spring. The plan rn is to get my tefl after I finish my degree and apply to epik. I'd love to see some videos about getting your tefl and what you learned from doing that, as well as how you go about lesson planning. Lesson planning is what I'm most unfamiliar with and I'm sure that's something you learn while getting a tefl and they'll probably teach at orientation, but what level of creation(?) are you given. Like how much of the material do you have to come up with, and the types of activities you do. Anyways, thanks for the great videos, and I'm glad epik has been such a great experience for you

    • @daevin3
      @daevin3  Рік тому +1

      Hi!! thank you so much for watching 🥳 I'm wishing you alot of luck with studying abroad at Yonsei, that'll be an amazing experience I'm sure :,)! I can certainly create an info video about TEFL, which one I took, and how it helped me with my lessons currently. That's an amazing idea, and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. I also did alot of lesson planning while in college, I was also a Linguistics major - but I had the chance to take a "Method of teaching English overseas" class that really sharpened my skills as a current English teacher. As for the lessons plans... you'd be surprised to know that we don't lesson plan AS MUCH as you may think. We definitely do, but it isn't as strenous as it was when I was in college. I'll expand in a future video soon on how I teach, the textbooks, lessons plans and more. Thank you again!

    Hi Daevin,
    First off, excellent video. It was very informative as I’ll be coming through EPIK this August. If you don’t mind, I did have a few questions.
    1. I understand the rent is free but could you tell me about the maintenance, electricity and water? Does that just come out of your paycheck or do you pay them like normal bills like we do in America? I just ask because when I worked in a hagwon, they just took out a flat rate for my electricity and for my water every month, no matter what I used or didn’t use.
    2. Did you have help setting up your bank account from your school? Also, are you able to transfer money back home from your specific bank? I used KB Bank while there and know I can do transfers from the ATMs but it would be good to have another source if possible.
    3. For the lunches, is that $80,000 KRW per month? Or is that for a full year?
    Please let me know. Thank you. ^^

    • @daevin3
      @daevin3  Рік тому +1

      Hi!!! Firstly, thanks for watching~ I will answer your questions to the best of my ability.
      1. Bills are payed typically, like in America. It depends on usage! There is an maintenance, electricity, gas, and I believe a water bill. I also believe there is a way to opt for the bills to be paid automatically, or of course manually.
      2. Excellent question~ I did have the help of my CT (Co-Teacher) while setting up my bank account. I actually had to set up two... a personal one, and another specifically for lunch payment. ALSOOOO, I will be making a video this week on how I transfer money back to America! That vid will come out by the end of this week!
      3. As for lunch payment, it will vary each month!! But will range around 60,000krw~90,000krw each month! It's paid monthly.
      Thank you so much for the questions!! If you have any more, just let me know 🕺🏽 thank you again for watching!

      hey!! thanks for watching!! honestly, my experience here has been pretty decent. I think here the only "big" issue is just staring - but I also dealt with that in America too, just to a lesser extent. I think because I know how to speak Korean I'm able to get along a bit easier! The only negative would be that I def miss being around my own communties back home tho!!!

      Hi! Thank you so much for watching + commenting. Rent-free apartments is definitely a perk with the EPIK program in South Korea.. but I do believe a few other countries/programs around the world DO also offer free rent. It definitely just depends! If you have any other questions, just let me know!

    Hello it’s me again! I’m a highschool student and I was wondering if I could study in Korea and still be able to qualify to become an English teacher in Korea with getting the epik. So do I need to go to a American Univeristy or would it be fine if I get my degree in Korea and still apply? And I saw the requirements and I qualify all except for the degree and other stuff. But yea can I get my degree in Korea and still be able to qualify? 😂 sorry for asking a king question. Thank you though!

This can be used to officially verify module results and final classifications. would this be enough? or do they want an actual copy of my diploma ?
