My favorite and personal interpretation of Red Lights & the MV is that of struggling with sleeping disorders like insomnia, stress dreams, and sleep paralysis. Bang Chan has talked about his insomnia before and he's also described in a vlive how he recently tried to go to sleep early around 10pm, but ended up having nightmares and actually falling into real sleep around 1am. He said that he would start to drift off and then start thinking about "scary stuff" (direct quote; i rewatched the clip) and realized he was about to fall into a nightmare and would force himself back awake. Essentially, fighting against stress dreams/nightmares for literal hours before actually falling asleep. Then, in Hyunjin's case, he is a very deep sleeper and has talked about an experience in which he had sleep paralysis and saw a demon walk out of his closet and stand over him--kind of like how Chan stands over him on the bed in this video. Everything about this video feels like a stress dream/nightmare or sleep paralysis experience to me. The chains, the confinement, the haziness and the looming presence while you're trapped on your bed unable to move. The anxiety of it all. It's a bit "Bury A Friend" by Billie Eilish, but not as violent. Chan's also a workaholic and the lines, "No matter how hard I try to run away, set the mic up / until the moon falls asleep, even deeper" makes me think of him spending late night hours in his studio, working and recording guides and not sleeping.
One of the analysis has to do with fighting with yourself, with your obsession to work or to some feelings we have inside and that we cannot let go (Hyunjin mentioned the word "Compulsion" in his episode of "Howl in Harmony" where they show a bit of the process ok making this song), they represent that in dancing and doing everything mirrored, like Shmo pointed out, its fire 🔥

They do sub groups and make songs and the other two groups made a ballad and a fun song. Also when Hyunjin is choking Chan it’s not with much force or grip, while Chan is much more forceful. Then they meet at the table and after that Hyunjin is only tied with ropes which shows less restraint that chains, indicating he’s gaining more control. After that their synchronized dance shows that Hyunjin is closer to the camera than Chan like he’s getting away from him, and then at the end Hyunjin has his hand around Chan’s neck so now he’s in control. I thought this was a beautifully made song and video.

They originally wrote the song about being obsessed with work. Chan with making music and Hyunjin with dancing but they want the fans to interpret it in their own way and apply it to their own life experience. But basically it’s about obsession and what ever that means to you.
