One small mistake, Tom: Pixel Tactics Deluxe was created BEFORE PT 4 and 5. 4 was already in developement by the time Deluxe hit the Kickstarter, and 5 was one of the stretch goals for that.
I was on the fence about getting this, but I guess I will based on your review and the storage solution putting it all together, I'll pick this up and plop it on my shelf in the normal box size section. Also, you're looking healthy, Tom. Keep up the good work.
So "pixel tactics deluxe" contains all 5 base games + an exclusive set (deluxe one), Or simply the box is strucutred in a way that allows you to store other pixel tactics cards (if you have them), and of course contains some cards ???
It has been a long time since you asked, but the box is cards not in any other set, so you can play it by itself, but you'll need to buy the rest of them if you want the rest of them.
None of the games require any of the others; but there is a general progression of complexity (i.e. the Leaders and Heroes in 1 are going to be less complex than Leaders and Heroes in 5). So you can pick and mix all you want, but if you think you'll be in for the long haul, you may want to go in order
+Rob Roy It doesn't come with a playmat, but you can order it. As typical Level99, though, it's not perfectly symmetrical. One side has a bigger space between the Vanguard and Flank waves than the other, and one side also has the "location" card space closer to the center than the other. Level99 games always have these little things in their games that prevent them from being perfect.
This game I consider one of the jewels of my collection. I love it. The box, mat, dividers, and everything; so nice.

+DinobotTM2 Keeping track of stretch goals is an amazingly annoying experience.
stand alone as shown in the vid

I really enjoy the games in the Pixel Tactics a lot, despite the wall of text and sometimes swinginess of the game.
I have 2 I ordered 4, 5 and deluxe aren't available in my region so I gotta wait to get them and might buy 1 and 3 soon.
I saw on Amazon it lists the games as 2-4 players. How does a 4-player game work? I cant seem to find any examples of it anywhere. - Thanks.
In another game mode not classic. There even is a 6 player game mode if my memory serves me right.
@@daxillion lol that was 4 years ago but thanks. I own 1 and 2 now.
Picked this up in trade...and it had EVERYTHING in the box.
Tom knows as well as I do there will probs be Pixel Tactics 12 someday.
+Nate Linhart If they take inspiration from Final Fantasy, then yeah, I bet we will go beyond 12.
Pixel Tactics is looking to be the next Magic. I only wish I could get a Spanish version of the game in Argentina. I'd really like to own it.
youve sold me on this game! why Tom Vasel? why? Now i have to go spend money!
