I mean listen. I love this game. One of the most fun games I have ever played in my life. Like I would rate it a 9.5 out of 10 on gameplay alone. But the story is not it at all.
it's filled with tropes, the protagonist is yes man incarnate, the "twist" is so obvious it's barely a twist, pretty much every action any characters take in the story is complete nonsense, there's a strict time pressure in the story despite not being represented in game at all (simply don't write time pressure into your open world sandbox game), the antagonist has absolutely no subtlety and doesn't kill crane for absolutely no reason at least half a dozen times, and the ending to the game is effectively made completely pointless in the expansion, and said expansion contains the actual ending of the game none of the story missions really serve as a good excuse to parkour around either, it's mostly walking in buildings or listening to completely uncharismatic people who disappear for half of the game before being relevant again so they can die it's a 5/10 story entirely serviceable, absolutely no outstandingly good qualities
@@cassius_scrungomanyou've got it all wrong there's no time pressure on the story nor is there a time limit, what twists are there??? And let me guess you skipped about every cutscene that took longer than you wanted?
@@thevoid468 several times in the story there is time pressure on crane to do things quickly. when the city is going to get firebombed in "48 hours", and later when Jade is captured. neither of these are actually represented ingame whatsoever and you can sleep like a narcoleptic with no consequences. it's simply a bad idea to write time pressure like this into an open world game with a large emphasis on player freedom. the GRE being evil and trying to use Rais' plot device to make a bioweapon with is so obvious that it barely counts as a twist, to the point where you didn't even realize it was meant to be one. it certainly looks like you were the one that skipped all the cutscenes, by the look of things.
@@cassius_scrungoman actually it's the most common thing in games that agents find out the org. They have been serving is the crooked one . You got Hitman like examples way earlier . It's a pretty good storyline actually. At least, for some people. Or better said, for the majority that play this game. We all have different perspectives.
Haven't played dying light in years but I remember jumping from enemy to enemy doing the attack that instantly killed them because doing anything else was the equivalent of hitting them with a wet noodle.
The gameplay is too good that the people feel the story should have been way longer than what we are given . Like we have entire cities to cover and do things like in GTA. So we really miss the actual story .

Great, have fun farming for over 20-30 hours or download mods to do it instantly. I had fun for maybe the first 20 hours. But it wasn't as great as Dying Light. I agree with this video. I got the game for free thx to Epic Games and I was really glad I could finally play Dying Light. But, surprisingly, I got disappointed with the gamplay mechanics and story. The storyline is completely dogshit and Crane is dumb af. The combat is also awful, it doesn't materr if you're fully upgraded with all skills bc all zombies (including Biters) do a ridiculous amont of damage to the player. Despite having a good map, it is full of virals and they're the most annoying zombies because they won't let you start a quest and they will make you lose a lot of time, health and first aid kits. At night volatiles are unkillable and invincible. And everytime you're almost done with a quest a fcking suicider appears after opening the last door and voilà you lost 5k skill points. This game constanly insults the player and it still gets a score of 8 out of 10 by having a thrash gameplay and a dogshit storyline
I love the fact that in DL Kyle Crane treated as this messiah like Gordon Freeman when in reality he's just your generic white guy protagonist number #451

its not that the story is bad its that the game play is so good it makes the storyline seem lacking
You're crazy for calling the story dumb
It literally is absolute dogshit lmao. They only hit the nail on the following when it comes down to the story in dl1.

The story IS really good idk why people think it's so bad
I love that 90% of the sfx in this game boil down to *kick* "grrrr" *kick* "grrrr" *kick* "grrrr" *kick* "grrrr"

the story is perfect, those who say the story is awful didnt even give attention to it

Game story is meh but Crane is simply the best actor
That "Stupid Fucking Kid" Send me shivers
The writing is like 6/10 but the voice acting is pretty damn good so it brings it to like a 7/10 for me
DL2 story is one of the best story I've ever played wym and also DL1
The story is not that dumb but rather mid with traditional cliché.
But the gameplay is 10/10 where the sequel dying light 2 failed to replicate.
