"Practicing as there's no tomorrow makes u improve faster". I felt guilty when I couldn't practice the 6 hrs I used to it, but staying at home showed me that quality is better that quantity. Snack: Pop corns and cookies ice-cream (green tea bubble tea too)
" You must have a talent to become a dancer, you are too old to be a dancer" It's sad. I'm 20 and I don't have talent BUT I belive that I can achieve something in dancing and I'm trying💪
Myth: "You need formal training to be a good dancer." I believe that a good foundation is fundamental to grow in dance but as a girl from a 3rd world country I constantly see people who are incredibly talented in dance and they didn't need to start training at a young age, all they had was passion and the willingness and patience to grow in dance whether they knew it or not. Favourite snack: oreo chocolate bites
Myth: You must fit a certain mold, to fit in a certain community. Fact: Far from the truth, the ones who stand out don’t usually fit in any mold. And if you don’t fit, find or even create another community. Jessie is my fav snack Xp
Myth: “Big girls can’t do certain dance styles” Fun fact: dance can fit any size; I wanted to break that myth or more so “sterotype” Fave snack: chips, Tostitos specifically 😋
“You can’t be a successful dancer if you don’t dance at a studio” I haven’t been able to dance at a studio since I was 10, but I don’t NEED a studio to enjoy myself while dancing. Also, the definition of success in dancing is VERY subjective. Cheetos
Dancers are fit. I've started dancing since last year and most of friends keep telling me that I was trying to lose weight 😑 I think the idea of dancing is not all about losing weight. We dance, we have fun, and trying to achieve the skill we want. Thanks steezy for sharing this video 💕
2:22 Damn, you are going to make me cry ♡ Thanks for always being reminding us that to become a dancer is a long journey and takes effort but is not impossible.
"If you don't see improvement in your dance, you're not practising hard/long enough" I believe that improvement in anything at all stems from a lot more factors than solely the lack of time to prac. When I started dancing, I would pump up to 8 hours of dance with so little improvement. After finding steezy, you guys taught me all the other factors that go into dance such as a healthy mentality, proper techniques etc. With that, I could improve 10x faster with less than half the amount of time I used to put into dance. It's amazing.
The foundation of dance is human nature. Same about music. Music and dancing is obviously deeply connected in many ways. I am a musician but I also love dancing. Both is part of our human nature and always was a part of it. It is not invented it is natural. Ballet obviously is an advanced type of dance with strict rules and not the foundaion of dancing as you said. :) Look at children for example they don't know anything about dancing but they love to dance for no reason except fun.
I'm 26 and I have just started. Honestly, I have been thinking will I ever be a professional or even just really good before I'm not that young anymore. But I'm hopeful and I think that I have some talent, also I've been to a million zumba and sh'bam classes so that might help. I'm a singer so I know a thing or two about perfoming, that probably helps too. My chosen genre is hip hop and I think that's easier to learn than for example ballet or contemporary to someone like me (I'm super inflexible). Thanks for coming to my Ted talk lol
@@Susann_Ekandjo same!!! Its so nice to see others my age start around here too. I tend to worry im getting “too old” to start and wont be as good. But thats just a limiting belief
After MONTHS of not being able to have the time to learn a choreography, i’m finally making time for myself again and turns out i’m not as bad as I thought i’d be. Still kinda got it!!
I found this page when it has some 12K subscribers or so. And look where it is now! Woohoo! Can't wait to hit 1M so that we all could watch Clay do that leg-on-top-of-the-head thingy 😅
Dance myth that I've heard: "Dancers are always confident." - While it would be nice to have ability to be confident in what you do, some people (mostly beginner dancers that I teach) don't seem to realize that we have our times where we feel afraid or nervous. And- it's a great feeling to have since we're all human! But it takes time to build ourselves up from the ground below. I'm a BBOY and I notice that the beginner BBOYS and BGIRLS I've taught always compare their confidence to my own. But then they gotta realize that I'm still building my stepping stone even though I look "confident" to em'. It takes a lot to finally jump into that cypher circle where people are goin' off. Even though we enter the floor, we sometimes don't have that full boost and belief. So ye', it takes quite a bit to step up. But when we do? We go off and use whatever confidence we got in us to make it real.
Such a good one! I got pretty burned out because in my dance scene there was so much pressure to come to EVERY event, support support support, on top of classes and practice. And I agree it's important to support the arts and attend shows you're not dancing in, but dang, sometimes you just wanna go to a concert or the movies or stay home and watch Netflix in your jammies.
"Practice makes perfect" I mean honestly it's not just about dancing but I did heard this phrase before when I was practicing a dance routine along with my classmates for our school's dance competition event. The more I grew up tho the more I realize that practicing only makes progress and you'll only achieve the so called "perfect" when you are satisfied with your work.
This was an awesome video. Shared from the heart with humor! Thank you for the honesty, eliminating the myths and false beliefs in our lives is so vital! 😊
Myth: If youre a dancer you should be able or be good in freestyling, choreographing and managing teams ( be a leader)..... Fave snack: Jessie and Clay are my favorite snacks
Jessie and Clay are back together again! My heart is whole again. It's like Jessie and James from Team Rocket blasting off again! And I guess Miso would be Meowth. Jessie is my favorite snack! The above statement is a lie, Jessie and Clay together are my favorite snack. Kinda like my other favorite snack is Hershey's Cookies n' Cream
3rd point - flexibility doesn't always benefit dance either, i'm too flexible for break dancing. i have hyper mobile joints and i dont have the stability for a lot of break dancing tricks.
OMG!! Thank you STEEZY! Ive been trying to tell ppl for years about the Ballet Myth! Now I can just send them this video :) .....Jessie is my Favorite Snack
I’m loving your informative videos. They’re so easy to digest! I had my first dance class for Salsa Suelta in SF, Ca. I felt discouraged bc I could not memorize the moves. A lot of overthinking and confusion happened but I’m so happy to go back!
"it's too late to start, you have to start when you're a kid" no it's not too late. and. better late than never:P soo glad i decided to start dance, it's been almost 2 years since i started and i will forever keep dancing
Myth. I can't dance. Everyone can dance, maybe just not as well as they'd like to. Like you said, it's your choice. Is two left feet a myth? Not so much as it is just a statement. If you really want to you will. My favorite snack is whatever I'm craving. Right now it's dark chocolate clusters of some sort. Don't even know what they're called.
Steezy has helped me to understand that even I too can dance 🤗. To be honest, I feel this channel as a revolutionary channel that motivates everyone to freely explore the joy one person can attain while dancing.❤️🖤🤗
my parents need to hear this "ballet is not the foundation of all dances" actaully nothing is the foundation of all dances , I can't be jumping in bhangra at once and poppin in hip hop twice
The only thing I don't want to be a myth is me being a popular dancer going over seas to eventually see steezy. A young boy can dream but it will come through!
I'll add the _"It served no purpose anyways."_ myth that turns around all forms of art. Like, if art wasn't important, I wouldn't be able to enjoy my favorite lil' oreo snackies :(
I never tought that ballet was like the fundation, i did it 1 year when i was 7 and then stopped, then i did basketball and now i'm dancing again (mix) and tbh, the fact that i already danced made it a lot easier to do some steps. But thats probaly with every dancestyle
I was a dancer when I was thin and I still am as I have gained a little weight, obviously the way my body moves or works will have definite changes but that's on you. Like you know your body the best so use it to your benefit and maybe add a style which benefits that body type. You can definitely still become a great dancer still, and i believe in you dear!
Yes we believe in you! You can do this!
There is a famous Korean choreographer Mina Myoung she also started at 20 if she can do it you can do it too believe in yourself.
And keep trying💪you'll get it
Thank you all for nice words. It's really motivating♥️♥️♥️

Snack: Carrots w/hummus or Strawberry

And I agree it's important to support the arts and attend shows you're not dancing in, but dang, sometimes you just wanna go to a concert or the movies or stay home and watch Netflix in your jammies.
I refused to choose between ballet, choir, and science. I just couldn't imagine giving even one of them up.
"Practice makes perfect" I mean honestly it's not just about dancing but I did heard this phrase before when I was practicing a dance routine along with my classmates for our school's dance competition event. And bad practice just doesn't really help. I used to practice a ton but my practice was bad so no progress.

Then how HRITHIK ROSHAN can dance
