The best dance stepping music so much fun. Try it will keep you moving and young at heart. Still moving at 74 & plan to continue so thanks for the video
I learned about this version earlier today. Like most people, I thought that the Brooks & Dunn version was the only one. I'm not going to say this version is better nor am I going to say it's worse. I'm just going to say that I love both versions.
@@donaldrussell-tx3873 Dunn wrote the song years before it was recorded by anyone. Asleep at the Wheel recorded it first with Dunn's blessing, but within a month or two, Dunn discovered Kix Brooks at a karaoke contest at a bar in Catoosa, OK. My uncle's father in law won that contest and Brooks came in second but Dunn offered him a contract that night. My uncle's father in law did get to record several songs for free and open for a few shows but not much else.
i saw this done on the 1992 austin city limits preformnce of them on dvd this band always has kicked serious ass live and recorded these guys are amazing
I saw them in a tiny bar in Lawrence Kansas in 1978. They were amazing, there were two women in the band then, not seeing them here now though, too bad they added a lot.
I was today years old when @GradySmith taught me that this wasn't a Brooks and Dunn original. Next thing you'll tell me is that other great songs of theirs such as My Maria weren't originally theirs either.
did i say i owned all three of the dvds of them now i love them and would love go see them live keep an eye out steve swina when they are going be in atlanta because i would love to go see them live
Ray has had some fiddle players over the years but none of them can hold a candle to Larry Franklin. You may not know the name but if you listen to country music for the last 10-15 years or so.....you know his sound.
Thanks for posting this Asleep at the Wheel classic. The sheet music for the fun piano part on "Boot Scootin' Boogie" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
Actually, you're right. I heard a bit of this version on the radio this morning and the person talking about it said that it was recorded two years before the Brooks & Dunn version.
Sounds like a velvet lounge crooner backed by a 1940's big band. I mean, it's not bad, but Brooks and Dunn injected some blues and soul into it. No question B&D's version is better.
Asleep at the Wheel is a Western Swing band, which is why you see all the swing dancers in the background, although I still hear the Country Two Step in there.
My favorite Western Swing band.....the best bar none!😎

Did Brooks and Dunn do ANY original songs?
@@donaldrussell-tx3873 I couldn't tell you. Does it really matter? Would you like them more if they did their own songs? I know I wouldn't.

Now this is Texas Music.
Indeed!
No better fiddler than Larry Franklin. World-class talent!

They did it first but Dunn was the one who wrote the song
"My Maria" was originally a B.W. Stevenson song, but I have a feeling you already knew that. 😂
Ronnie Dunn wrote it.
NOW THIS IS MUSIC 🎶

Asleep at the Wheel was the first to do this.
Ronnie Dunn wrote it though...
Pre-Brooks & Dunn.
But Dunn wrote it....

no genius Aaron, although recorded by AATW, the WAS written by Dunn!!!
yep, they did in 1990. b&d in 1992.
Oh yeah,Larry Franklin sawin one off!
Since Ronnie Dunn wrote the song I wonder if this was the original way it was supposed to be or is their way...hmmm
Wow 😮
He's from Philadelphia!
They did it before Brooks and Dunn.
Reminds me a lot of Richard Cheese!
Wow. So these guys first recorded the song that brooks wrote before Brooks and Dunn recorded it
Boys, since when do you know that song?
Asleep at the wheel were the first ones to record this song
liked it but prefer brooks and dunn
Came here from wikipedia because i didnt realize the brooks and dunn version was a cover.. huh
How do you know that song by Brooks and Dunn ?
Even better. How did Asleep record it two years before Brooks & Dunn.
@@swinneas Ronnie Dunn wrote it, they sang it then when Brooks and Dunn got together they sang it as well.
totally differnt than brooks and done i believe the Wheel recorded this first

Nice cover of the song. It's quite enjoyable. However, Brooks & Dunn's version is better. Richard
Asleep at the wheel wrote it. BROOKS AND DUNN covered their song. Not other way around .
@@docram1983 no Ronnie Dunn from Brooks & Dunn wrote it but Asleep At The Wheel recorded it first.

I'd wholly disagree.... Brooks and Dunn suck eggs partner. especially compared to asleep at the wheel
I like their version of this better than I did Brooks and Dunn, even though I know Ronnie Dunn wrote it.
Brooks and Dunn's version of this is way better. This version sucks.
This sounds like Frank Sinatra hahaha..not bad but Brooks and Dunn did it better
Way better than Brooks and Dunn!
Ronnie Dunn craps bigger then these guys. XP

@@alvallac2171 You correct a 10 year old typo? Seriously...lol Thank you.
this version sucks. not as dance sounding as b & d
