My favorite fourth of july ever had this song playing in the background (the whole cd) and it was a great time.. Just the right kind of spirit to enjoy the company of friends and family :)
Big fan since 1978. Thanks to a Navy buddy from New Braunfels! He turned me on to Texas music, I already loved Nashville music, but this is even better!
Got the pleasure to meet Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel in 1986 down in Kerrville, Texas when Kinky Friedman ran for Kerr County Justice of the Peace. They played a fundraiser at the Y.O. Ranch Hilton and it was one hell of a night!
Sax player (Michael Francis) and I used to shots of Tequila at the back bar of the Palomino Club (between sets) until we couldn't see straight. He used to say, it helps me to play better. No longer with the band, always wondered whatever became of Michael? He was the best!
I was doin shots at palomino and ended up getting a 502 and having to re-up in the service ...marines even though I was a navy vet. I was out too long to suit the navy but viet nam was gearing up and the corps welcomed me with open arms ...lucky me. I was my 4th dui and it was the slammer or nam. About 3 days in boot I wondered if I might have liked the slammer better....haha I ended up a sgt in 3 yrs (prior service helped) and spent all my time at el toro California. all in all it worked out.
I have been watching a lot of videos about the Andrew sisters, and I thought this would be a great song for them to do. I just found out today that they did sing this song! Look it up here on you tube.
Esta buena canción la versionaron muchísimos cantantes y los primeros que la cantaron fueron ELLA MAE MORSE AND FREDDY SLACK ORCHESTRA en el año 1946 y luego la versiono también el gran CHUCK BERRY en el año 1958
These guys can REALLY kick it out !! Get your Boots Burnin' !! Keep a Beat with these Texans and their Marvelous BEAT !!
Jitterbuggin' Texas style at the house, the house, The House of Blue Lights !!!!!
Best Band I have ever heard. Great piano play.
I've loved this song since I first heard it on their #10 album back in 1987.
Love Asleep At the Wheel, great sound .

beaconmike tried looking into him and there’s pretty much no information on him anywhere
Caught this band in a Lafayette Indiana pizza parlor, back around 1977. A lot younger line up back then.
I hope I get a chance to see these guys before I die! Come to Albuquerque!!

GREAT BAND! BEST WHILE NAKED COVERED IN WESSON OIL.
Texas style. Heelllll yeah!
Pleasantly lively. Try Merrill Moore's version and the original recorded some years earlier by Freddie Slack.
The lead singer is the bomb!

I think that this song sounds like something that Josh Turner would sing. It is really great

Man, ya sure can tell everyone's shitfaced dancin', eh? Now, that's invitin' music!
Very good, but why do piano players have to try to act like Jerry Lee Lewis . Stay seated , there's only one Jerry.
It's called SELF EXPRESSION ~ just like when you posted here.
Get a hair cut.
