KF51 Panther does not have an unmanned turret. The gunner and commander are seated in the turret either side of the gun breach.
KF51 is also ONLY “based on the hull of Leopard 2A4” for demonstration purposes, in order to save on costs. Were it to enter service, it will have a fully new hull. This was confirmed by Rheinmetall and reported by Janes in late 2022.

I'd rather be in an Abrams or Merkava as far as survivability, but the Challenger and Leopard series are true beasts if you have the element of surprise. Those two are the snipers of the MBT world, and the Leopard is the best looking of the lot.

@@JsDs1020 The Merkava only has protection against older semi-civilian rebel grenade launchers. It has no protection from shells from other tanks, it is huge and very vulnerable.
Abrams - approximately the same, it is not very fast, but a large tank with shells in the turret, it is extremely vulnerable on the battlefield. Isn't it strange that a tank can be destroyed by a bullet from a large-caliber gun?
The T-90 can shoot them from a safe distance, it is small and better armored.

Leclerc XLR is just a stop gap until the EMBT or a derivative of it replace it and not a proper upgrade, if the franco german program fails yet again with germany draging another manufacturer breaking the 50/50 balance into 2/3 german and 1/3 french split

    About the Altay Tank,
Yes Koreas was a big help in the project, thanks to the technology transfer, Turkiye could speed up the development of the Tank significantly.
Originally it was planned to use some German components, (Periscopes, Power Pack etc.), Germany suddenly sanctioned Turkiye, thus delaying the Project.
This delay time was used to further localise the Tank components, to become fully independent(especially from an unreliable Partner like Germany).
Today all components except for the Power Pack, are local. (developing a reliable 1500+ HP Power Pack(Engine+Gearing) for a Tank, without breaching existing licences, is not an easy task)
To not delay the Project even further, Turkiye and Korea reached an agreement, and the Altay will use the recently developed Korean Power Pack in the first batch of Tanks(maybe 2. too).
Thank You Korea, for your Support!

@@alexanderkharin7036 They are already working on that.
For aviation they developed/are developing the Hurkus turboprop trainer, Hurjet jettrainer and Kaan Jetfighter.
The engines are still American, but they work on that too, with the TEI TF-10000 as the first step.
But it will take years till the Kaan is in serial production, that's why they look for an intermediate solution(F-16 Viper, Eurofighter etc.).
For Air defense they have developed the Hisar System with up to 100km range and are working now on the Siper System for extended 100+km range.

nothing on the Altay components are turkish developments build from scratch... for that turkey lacks the knowlege.
Main gun still is the licens copy of the RH 120L55A1 gun which was technical transfer from Korea.
Engine transmission, firecontroll, thermal view all korean.. the powerpack showed howlittle turkey know about engine transmission development....Germany pulled the trigger on MTU engine and Renk transmission with throw back the Altay program by 10years... they tryed Ukraine engine transmissions which were not powerfull and reliable enough, they tryed a development together with Austria... after some verbal alluts by Erdogan on Autria ...they recived the middlefinger and Autria channceled the project... which left Turkey again with a Tank without engine and transmission...
Meantime Korea was finaly able to offer a own developt engine transmission pack from their K2 ... which took them a full decade to develop... just to get a powerpack that has less performance much lower reliability and is more heavy than the 4 decade old MTU Renk Powerpack from the LEo2... on top of that the Korean powerpack is more heavy... but at least after 10year long Journy they have a engine for the Altay...
the Altay is a cheap scale down version of the K2 were they phased out auto loader and hydraulic suspension
The Altay is a good example how not the manage a expansive large scale weapon development program...

@@nagmashot Turkiye is building submarines, frigates, air defence systems, missiles, uavs, aircrafts, armored vehicles all in parallel in far limited budget than France, England, Germany etc. besides feeding 400K+ men army. Yes Turkiye had problems with engine. However, but it had these problems with engines of UAVs, missiles and armored vehicles. Now UAVs, missiles like atmaca anti ship missile, cruise missiles are flying with natively build turkish engines. It goes same with armored vehicles. 500hp, 1000hp engines have been built and new armored vehicles are being delivered with Turkish engines. 1500hp engine and transmission are under development. In any case, the armor of the tank, all fire control systems, protection systems (active, passive), warning systems etc are in house built. I believe all those sanctions are backfired and motivated Turkiye to do its own things. With the help of these sanctions, now there are more than 1500 defence related companiess in Turkiye. So eventually Turkiye will reach that capability as well.... I believe turkiye is doing an examplary work.

I'd love see an actual demo of how these behemoths would handle the latest anti-tank weapons...including the latest iteration of suicide drones.
How many of these cheap, but potent drones would it take to overwhelm their defenses?
How about a drone coming in at grass-top level from behind? The Ukrainians are pretty adept at flying their FPV drones into the small openings. I am sure the bottom of these tanks are well protected from mines. What about the suspension and tracks? Can be take out from underneath?
I'm not ragging on these new MBT's but I'd love to see how they actually perform on the current battlefield.

Good counterpoints. The sophistication of these evolving drones will only get better, but this increases complexity, cost and weight. For countries like Ukraine, who are doing an amazing job taking out armor with inexpensive FPV drones, the higher cost of will probably be a factor - at least when swarming numbers needed to overwhelm new tech.

Not Ukraine, but the Nazi regime. This already happened under Hitler with his version of the European Union, with the same combat groups. Those guys who made the Holocaust used the same slogans, attributes, and Hitler’s activists are their heroes (let’s say SS officer Shukhevych, mass murderer Bandera and everyone else). In particular, they use the same crosses on the same German equipment.
In the Russian army, approximately half of the soldiers are Ukrainians who have not betrayed the local culture. There are still many people in Ukraine literally waiting for liberation - in particular, this is why Russia can destroy weapons warehouses.
Then, the bulk of weapons and the same drones come from the Europeans with their Fourth Reich. The production itself in Ukraine is scanty and Russia is constantly destroying all found workshops. You can even ask the locals to go and check whether drones are gathering here.
We are dealing with a post-modern version of the Second World War: as a result, the Europeans invaded deep into Russia, destroyed the lives of tens of millions of people, but Russia will inevitably defeat the invasion and return to explain that you cannot be animals.

The Merkava's armor cannot withstand a hit from almost any modern tank, its armor is only meant to protect against autocannons. It is made of a type of composite armor which offers it exceptional resistance to HEAT weapons like missiles, rockets, and other shaped charge warheads. There are two types of protection of which modern armor provides, these are fundamental to understanding how these tanks work. There is Chemical Energy (CE), and Kinetic Energy (KE), the goal of most tanks is to achieve a good level of protection in both, but some tanks prioritize one over the other. Russian tanks generally have prioritized KE, while using ERA to make up for the lack of CE protection, while Israel prioritizes CE due to the large amount of urban operations and guerilla warfare that they face. There is no perfect analogy for them I think, but imagine them as two types of body armor. Imagine CE as a suit of Kevlar you wear to protect you from the most common threat of battlefield, shrapnel, the suit makes you safe from much artillery and grenades but you can still be shot and killed by rifle. KE is like body armor plates, it won't protect you from shrapnel but it protect you from bullets. The goal is to have both but is very hard because the are different and heavy.

Because it’s safer and faster than most of loaded (don’t explode like a t90 bc the ammo rack is in the turret, faster than a manual that close the safety door of the ammo because a manual loader can be faster but that’s very risky he don’t have the time to close the anti-explosion door)

Hmm, is there alternative physics in Europe? The T-90's ammunition is located at the bottom of the tank, in the most protected part of the hull. Placing them in a tower is anti-scientific; this is the most vulnerable position. Which, in addition, Western tanks have no armor. There are positions when they can be destroyed using a powerful gun.
Therefore, T-90s can survive a battle and return, but Leopards do not survive a battle.

And no the hull of T-90 is not well protected its many times crapier than the turret of that tank so you are simply inventing fake excusses for something that was done like that beace it was easy and cheap...

@@Bialy_1 Man, you sound like an idealist. Do not do it this way.
There are hit statistics. It is extremely difficult to hit the T-90's ammunition; it can withstand almost a hundred hits without explosions. Even if it hits the ammunition, it does not light up immediately and the crew has time to leave the tank.
On the other hand: if a shell or mine hits a tank, then the crew will almost certainly be wounded or killed.
Also, the thin protection between the tower and the shells is weak. If the jet passes through the shells and reaches this armor, the crew will definitely be fried. But 80% of hits to a tank are hits to the turret. And the Leopards have no armor there at all.
Doesn't it bother you that 100% of Challenger 2s that were shot down threw the turret?

The problem with any vehicle or military is the area in which they’re primarily based in and most likely to deal with, such as the German leopard whilst the best armored tank out there, fight me in that, is mostly due to the leopard being designed to deal with large, open and primarily flat terrain, much like the British challenger 2 being idealistic in the open and hilly countrysides all the while being able to fight at longer ranges compared to its competitors, as for the AMX lecrerc, whilst its much lighter than its European counterparts it’s similar in the same ways as the Italian c1 ariete in the sense that France tends to be very mountainous as well as large and open, whilst being densely wooded, meaning that for the French and Italians and even the Russians army relies more on mobility over outright firepower or heavy armor, again just because a tank is better on paper doesn’t entirely mean that it’s better in actual combat, take the tiger as an example in which most people tend to laugh at British tanks for being unreliable but in actuality German tanks or heavy tanks were far far more unreliable than their British counterparts and in reality, British tanks were actually some of the most reliable tanks throughout the war, as for the myths of British unreliable tanks during ww2 was in part due to the terrible location and design of British tank engine filters, being primarily based at the back and to the sides of the tank, meaning that as the tank drove along, any and all dust clouds or particles would typically end up getting sucked back into the engine causing the tank to stall, again, tanks like the Matilda, Cromwell and Churchill all have outlasted most of their foreign counterparts, the only exceptions were the Sherman’s and the T34’s but that’s due in part to how cheap they were, tanks like the centurion and Churchill we’re extensively used all the way to Korea and in the case of the centurion, is even used to this day

As for Western tanks, they have an extremely outdated design relevant to the 1970s.
The idea then was that 40,000 Soviet tanks would attack, supported by hundreds of nuclear bombs in the breakthrough zone. And Western tanks had to hide in the folds of the terrain, fire a few shots and run away while aviation destroyed the civilian population of the USSR. Therefore, they have a heavy forehead and almost zero armor on the sides (they are not designed for attacks), and huge sizes.
However, the advent of drones and battle design optimized for the Russian army turned all Western tanks into simply bad self-propelled guns. High altitude, low mobility, lack of armor, a gun with an effective firing radius 1.5 times smaller than that of Russian tanks - it is not surprising that the German government is now crying - Scholz and Merkel have worse situations than Hitler, but the sins are the same.

All tanks are designed with heavy forward armor. Including Soviet/Russian tanks. That is why the Javelin anti-tank missile is designed with a top attack option.
As far as drones go, Russian tanks seem to be every bit as vulnerable to drone attacks as any other. Russia’s biggest problem is they suck at combined operations. That is why they have lost so many tanks in Ukraine.

The T-72 is a 1970s design and the T-90 is really just a T-72 with slightly newer electronics. The T-80 is based on the T-64 which is a 1960s design.

You don’t have a clue right ? 🙂 Attack helis and at rockets can destroy a mbt since 30 years… all depend on the tactics of infantry position and mobilization. Play chess 🙏
