As a local New Yorker. Never go near parks, garbage piles and subways after sunset. That’s when the streets you will encounter rats the size of gatorade bottles. Just imagine it, rats running around under cars and ripping opening trash bags. 😬😬😬
My cats keep the mice away and they will kill roaches and spiders. They even have killed a beetle that was flying around one night. They were smashing it with their paw and picking it up and throwing it in the air with their mouth until it died.
In Cyprus there are thousands of cats. The tourists love them and will feed them constantly. Some are aggressive though and you have to watch for ones that have rabies / other disease
I had pet rats too until I suddenly became allergic of them when I was 20. They're very sweet and smart. So it surprises me they massively fall for that bucket trap. One of my rats even listened to his name. I'd yell "Nicky!" and he'd come running with his little feetsies. So cute. I still miss having a pet rat.
i feel like even if you were to try an donate all those rats as food for lizards they still would deny the rats due to them worried about there animals catching a random diseases from one of the rats, thats mainly why they breed the food for animals because they know all the ones they bred are safe for the lizards to eat.
I had a pet Red Tail Boa when I was in Jr. High, that absolutely REFUSED to eat the dead rodents. He wanted them live and kicking. Near the end of his life, he STILL wouldn’t eat them already dead, so we would have to stun the rodents by knocking them in the head. We couldn’t kill them or else Tike ( the 🐍) wouldn’t eat.🤦🏾♀️😬😬 It was cool watching the process when Tike “hunted” fit himself, but once we had to start stunning the rodents, it got too much for me😬🙁
I don't remember which animal it was, squirrels or doves, but they were introduced to the US parks for the aesthetics. And now that's why they're everywhere.
That’s not possible when NYC’s garbage pickup is literally placing thousands of trashbags in piles on a sidewalk. The rats live and tunnel right below the sidewalks. If you see a construction site next to a restaurant; AVOID the restaurant. I’ve seen NYC rats just run through a restaurant, they are not afraid of humans.
At one of my jobs, we use this rat trap that would just trap the rat inside this container. Idk if anyone knows it, but it's a green contraption that's sort of shaped like a half-tunnel sort of.
Just go around to all the dog shelters in NYC. Offer them the deal that if they lend you all the lap dogs (little yippers) that they'll get fed and taken care of off the dime of the shelter. Those dogs were bred for rat hunting that is why some of them are naturally very aggressive. offer rewards to regular people for hunting them with BB guns and for each rat they get 5-20 dollars depending on weight.

I think i need a cat now
My cat is useless. Love him though
2 million rats sounds like they're low balling it. Rats give birth to like 6 litters a year consisting of 5-10 baby rats.
No one talking about Cam's expression at 0:28? Adorable 🥰. Also, that dude with the many rats either Wilbur or Ratcatcher.

There's a UA-cam channel about rat catching with dogs. It's pretty cool thought he focuses more in rural areas than cities.

Don't have trash out. Don't have people pooping on the streets.

They should unleash the natural predators of rats upon NYC: otters and badgers
Line the streets with pit vipers.
Feed them to the zoo animals

Let all the cats out the shelters
Put a bunch cats in New York that are fixed, of course, and well fed. That will fix problem.
I look at this thumbnail
And see something in the corner of my eye

The rats are just as big as the cats. There's a Vice video of people using dogs to hunt rats in the LES.
