I have always wanted to see inside an alcohol carburetor.. thanks for the side by side brother.. it was informative.. Though my racing days are way far behind me.. Carry on!
Something you might want to try. I have finally settled on Krud Kutter Parts cleaner for all my carb work. Will not affect plastic or rubber gaskets at all, and environmentally friendly. I use it in my ultrasonic cleaner and carbs & parts come out like new after 35 min at 100 degrees. Just something to consider.
Back in the old sprint cars days(80's) we ran methanol with Hilborn injection... used the fuel pills to regulate... this new stuff so much nicer to tune for sure...
There is a dirt track racing carb that is ingenious and how carbs should have been all along. No floats. Just a flow circuit that fills it up to a certain level and it maintains that. Look up Willy's Carburetors to see it.
So your going to put the Party pully on, Mabey using Motorcycle fuel tank sealer, it's fuel proof and seals up pin holes in fuel tanks. try coating the inside of the float bowls with it to prevent the fuel from eating the bowl away. Just brush on a thin layer to the inside of the bowl.
You lost me at "boost reference" but it is fascinating stuff. I still want you to redo my 4l60e in m 2010 LS 5.3 Canyon. All factory original full optioned with low rider suspension straight from GMC. Please tell me when I can get into your shop.
how do you maintain a e85 carb when your not racing every week? say you take a couple weeks off or a month ,then end of season do you have to do something with fuel pump, and lines, and tank
@@pinkymccauley7480 if it was C16 racing fuel, you would not have to do anything e85 and M1 you have to clean within four or five days or rotting will occur I believe E85 is worse than M1 you see how bad the carburetor was. It will be the same way through the entire fuel system.
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542 THANK YOU FOR THE FOLLOW UP but between air pompe and the entry of the alcohol it will be very hot ....hot lest fresh air ......banks power prouve so many time sir for my thingking 5 psi and more evrething need to cool down
What I don’t understand about the set up is, how come this carb doesn’t need to be enclosed in a pressurized box, like blow thru carbs did before? What’s different about this carb so that doesn’t have to be done?
Remember how long sport bikes ran carbs till emissions forced them to go efi. I guarantee if the car companies didn't have to meet mileage and emissions; they would still be using carbs. Look how simple a carb is on a mower. Those complex carbs from the 1980's were a total joke.
It’s pretty cool Richard shares his tuning knowledge, a lot of guys won’t share their tricks

Amazing. Things sure have changed since I last worked on a carb unit and NOTHING like those.

I did not realize E85 was that corrosive. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Great video very educational on effects the E85 has on carburetors
Very educational information. Might want to remind Richard to turn on his microphone 🙂. Good thing you have backup audio on your camera.
This was a phenomenal video Richard. I'm totally good with precision transmission/occasional precision carburetor.

Great video Richard...!
Yes!!! Procharger. Thank you!!! If allowed I would go with TBI but for carburetors, I would pick the AFB/Carter/Weber. Holley uses too much rubber.
Nice video guys.
crazy knowledge !!!

Awesome break down from the best in the business. Great job.
Would be nice to see a fuel injection swap on that old heavy Chevy
Install air conditioning in that shop. I can't live without mine.
@@transmitterguy478 actually we are doing that right now at this moment
Surprised they don't make composite fuel bowls.

Hi Richard, great videos. Do you sell trans kits??
Richard’s mic wasn’t on
50 year old Power Wagon needs overdrive, no computerization- what would be the best way to go?

If the inlet is sealed the rest the carb doesn’t matter
