My horse decides what we do. We can't do barrel racing, racing OR dressage because Toffee has been trained to jump all his life, he is old and still flying over jumps like there is no tomorrow.

The soft tissue of the tounge is a lot better at handling pressure than the nose for example. A hackamore is actually stronger than a bit because it puts pressure on hard tissue with a LOT of nerve endings between thin skin and hard bone. They also have a quite small nose-bone that you actually can break with a hackamore. Snaffle bits are also milder in the sense that it's a lot easier to estimate how much pressure you're putting on the horse. Shanks multiply the pressure from your hands for each centimeter of their lenght. You might think you're riding with soft hands, but you really don't know with shanks. If these horses hadnt been comfortable with their bits they wouldnt be at such a high level. It's a lot more natural for a horse to protect itself than it is to have a human on its back. The fact that they allow it prove that they are okey with it.

He had the dentist over because his tooth was damaged when we got him.

Take this message: So I was at my friends riding their pony, and I of course wanted to jump bigger but didn’t believe in him because “Ponies are too small to jump big jumps”, and I was taken away by that day, I set up poles and tried to jump them. Digger ended up running off the fence at a fork, and he trueness around and popped over a super high fence. I was so suprised.

Hello Army&Blink, I want to tell you something. I have a horse. I ride my pony and I am sitting in a wheelchair, too. You could buy a special saddle for people who sit in a wheelchair, that fits only you and your horse. With that special saddle you could ride again. My father bought a normal Western-saddle for ponys and changed some things, so that it fits me perfectly.
I would love to do showjumping but I'm not if I'm up to it, I'm a champion racer and barrel racer in my team, school and town but..show jumping is a different game..

Wenn man sich die Landungen der Pferde mal in Slomo anschaut und dabei auf die Fesseln schaut sieht man richtog wie sich die Gelenke unnormal verbiegen...
