Franzinger was a powerful fullback who blocked for Dan Murphy on that 1999 Wildcats football team. Murphy rushed for a school record 320 yards on 20 carries against my alma mater (Canton McKinley) that year. Franzinger scored the deciding score to cap a 98 yard drive (Murphy carried the ball 14 times on that series) and a 2 yard rush for the score (29-15). Wishing Franzinger the best as head football coach!

Incredible that he started at fullback as a sophomore. A very physical , hard nosed position to play. Even at that age he ran people over. Surprisingly fast too for his size , he developed his speed running track in earlier years ( was the anchor of a 1st place 4x100 relay team in grade school track alongside Nate szep and a couple of other ignatians back at st. Bernadette.).
The Zinger/Murphy combo is maybe the most hardcore backfield Ignatius has seen.

@@meissnerflux that was hard seeing Murphy drain the clock against the vaunted #1 ranked Bulldogs. In my four years of high school, he was the ONLY back to rush for over 100 against us and 320 yards at that! Franzinger was a true lead blocker for Murphy.

Franzinger and Szep were True Legends of those years of the high school football.
