I Have AOSD - Short form Stills disease with escalated issues of Autoimmune Inflammatory conditions since 2017 , after gaining 45 pounds i started weight lifting starting February , yes its a challenge since i am still on prednisone and have pain in my hands and knee and feet the most , however i kept going and working through the pain. but this new pain i said to myself was good pain, ive since lost 30 pounds and still want to loose another 30 to get myself in the best condition i was even before getting sick. The Pain never ends with Stills however dont let that bring you down
Wow! You are one of the very few people with Still’s disease I’ve heard of (if I can say it like that ). I’ve had it for 14 years now . I was diagnosed in 2006 at the age of 26 and am now doing awful. Over the years I’ve had good and bad seasons ; it used to come and go . The pain has never left but since I’ve learned to live with pain I can still say that I’m having a “good” day even if I’m in pain but sometimes the pain is just debilitating. Unfortunately for me the disease has been taking its toll on me as I age and I’m struggling to function through the day . It’s been more than a year since i had my last flare up but this time , I did not recover as I did before . Instead , the pain is worse every day and new symptoms have appeared (like eczema which is also autoimmune , and other issues ) .I have two children (4 & 7) and I don’t have the energy required to do all the things children their age normally want to do . I feel very very sad and although I sometimes push myself really hard to do 20 minutes low impact workouts at least 3 times a week, I’m feeling more and more exhausted day by day . I’ve been on and off prednisone; I’ve taken methotrexate and leflunomide and was prescribed plaquenil by my rheumatologist but I never started it . I’m tired of all this but I have children 😓. I used to be very very active and I love to cook and to have my house clean and organized but I’m simply too tired every day . Yes, I still cook and clean but I have to make long pauses through the day .
Hola, hablo español alguien me puede decir el contexto del video, ya q tengo artritis y veo q esta chica hace ejercicio con pesas muy pesadas, le sirve para el dolor ?
I cannot seem to find a happy medium. I cannot find what level of exertion is not enough vs. Too much and causes a flair. 2yrs. In and still trying to figure life out.
Hey there! I'm with you. I dont have RA but I have severe bone on bone arthritis, and I'm figuring out what I can do vs. not. Its depressing/frustrating 😊
I wonder if she should consider increasing fat intake and reducing carbs and veggies? I'm originally form the Forest Hills section of Queens. Every time my Jewish friends have problems I recommend going to a kosher butcher for lamb fat for cooking. I'd also suggest not eating out on Saturday night. It's customary for observant families to eat out or have a big home cooked meal when Sabbath ends. Cooking at home with lamb fat or even beef tallow allows Mrs. Goldstein to greatly reduce her omega 6 intake. Eating out guarantees heavy exposure to omega 6 oils. Replacing wheat-based cereal and bread foods with egg yolks and turkey bacon should help. Eliminating the cooking oils and replacing them with lamb fat should show improvements in RA. But her lifts will suffer some from a decrease in carbs and increase in fat.
I was thinking the same thing.I dropped my carbs to a very low level, and had tremendous improvement with hip,and back pain. There are even people who are carnivores.Animal products only,or close to it.There's a young woman named Mikhaila Peterson who was suffering from devastating RA,and depression. She's now on a carnivore diet, and is feeling much better. L. Amber O'Hearn is another. She's been a carnivore for about nine years, and had remission of her bipolar disorder. Nina Teicholz wrote a book called "The Big Fat Surprise" which showed how the wrong headed campaign against fat was largely due to a very influential man named Ancel Keys who pushed the idea that animal fat clogged human arteries. He published a manipulated study supporting his claims. But it's a sham of selective evidence. There's also the vegetarianism of the Seventh Day Adventists church. They've demonized meat for ages.Teicholz and others have shown that the unstable fats produced from grains, and seeds are a real source of damage. It's very high in PUFA's,and Arachadonic Acid ( Omega 6 ).Which is inflammatory.I've learned a lot from a man named Tucker Goodrich about the omega 6 oils issue.I've heard how Jews who observe kosher food laws tend to use veg oils like Crisco.I don't know if that's accurate. But it can't help if you suffer from RA.I do wish this woman would look up Peterson,O'Hearn,or read Teicholz's book.I'm very impressed with the results I'm seeing from people doing this to improve inflammatory problems.
@ArgentAbendAzure Yes, the Jewish community is specifically targeted by Mazola, Crisco, Wesson, knowing that these laboratory fats are not in conflict with Jewish dietary laws. In my neighborhood in Queens, the local Key Food has a sale on one of the major vegetable oils every single week of the year. I can back this up by citing their weekly circular. I think going to a kosher butcher for lamb fat for cooking would produce results. Adventists. They don't consume alcohol or smoke. If Catholicism(or any religion) banned both drinking and smoking, we'd increase our lifespan too. Adventists are not even a major denomination of Christianity. There's a lot about them that skews the results. Dr. Ted Naiman was raised in that religion and now he's a big meat eater. I think the Carnivore Diet should be a last resort. Simply increase fat and reduce carbs and see what happens. Carbs have health benefits for thyroid, digestion, fighting infections, etc.......Over consumption seems to be the issue. But the gurus ban them instead of arguing over how many grams to eat daily. Easier to do that.
My question is, am I doing more damage to my joints by lifting or improving my joint health? I can push through but I want to be able to walk when I'm 50.. my poor momma gait is awful and there's fear in me that I'm doing my future self harm.
This is a good question. Because RA is progressive a good routine with strengthening the muscles that support your joints will benefit your mobility in the long run, not make your joints worse but you have to do light to moderate strength training and listen to your body
I worry about the same thing. I am a bodybuilder and want to compete because this is my passion. I am 52 years old and have to push myself but I'm I going to regret the damage I have done to my body? I do wrap the joints I have pain in but it still worries me. I'm not ever going to stop because I once weighed 298lbs and I am now 165lbs, 5'3" tall with muscles 💪🥰
I agree, I dont blame her for getting angry and upset that your delt this shitty life card taht you body work wont properly and its our of your control. The human body is so complex but shit at the same time.
She's Orthodox Jewish and part of Inna's gym so I'm going to guess she is on a kosher diet which impacts her food options. And may offer clues as to what does and doesn't cause autoimmune. I'll bet her fat intake is only about 30%. And I'll bet that if we went to her home we'd find that she cooks with some kind inflammatory industrial seed oil that Mark Sisson warns about. I agree about carnivore or low-carb or Paleo. I don't eat vegetables and get all my nutrients from egg yolks, organ meats, and eat ground beef and chicken(bone-in skin on) and bacon daily for years. I still eat white rice so I don't get skinnier. I'm 5'11 175. This lady would do well eating egg yolks, turkey bacon, limited white rice, and if she's kosher, go to a kosher butcher and ask for lamb fat to replace the supermarket cooking oils.
You should consider a whole food, plant-based diet and pay a visit to the True North health center in California.. you don't have to suffer through arthritis for the rest of your life..
A+!! I can't speak for everyone, but my rheumatoid arthritis WAS an autoimmune problem and turned out I had an allergy to milk protein. Completely cured it years before I ever discovered SS and lifting only made me worse. Totally agree on whole food plant based. Been eating that way for years now and it's the best decision I ever made. Had I not been researching diet at the time, I never would have discovered it and I'd be on some pretty serious arthritis meds now which isn't good. In fact, I lived and tried lifting with the pain for so long, years later when I did discover SS after being on whole food plant based it was still too good to be true getting under the bar and squatting almost 300 lbs WITHOUT PAIN. Amazing stuff!
@@keithbarbaro7590 if i had to take a stab in the dark, it would be either Paleo, Keto, or a "cleaner" version of the SAD...but she is definitely eating animal products of some kind, be it meat or dairy...RA is just inflammation and nothing causes inflammation like animal products, esp. if she has been eating that way her whole life (most people have)...
@@keithbarbaro7590 Who knows for sure but if you're asking me and I had to guess, since the gym owner says she caters mainly to women in an Orthodox Jewish community, I'd have to guess she's eating kosher which is a good start. I myself ate kosher before I went WFPB but obviously that included milk which didn't resolve my personal issues. One way to find out what it is that is causing it is do an elimination diet. Only eliminate one thing at a time and give your body time to heal. It will heal if that was what it was. I did the reverse. I totally eliminated animal products and upon my arthritis slowly disappearing, I wanted to find out what it was, so I added one thing back and gave it time, until I found out what it was. That's how I found out it was dairy products. I can't even eat cheese (my biggest weakness). If she were just to eliminate all animal products and it never went away, I guarantee it's gluten (wheat protein).
@Ryan Finchum She is eating animal products but I'll bet she's eating more plant-based products like cereal grains and is consuming industrial seed oils for fat instead of animal fat. I'll bet if she's getting 80g of fat, 40g are from those oils. And since she's on a kosher diet, we can all agree that pork is not to blame, even though it's been maligned by dietitians and doctors for decades. I seriously doubt Paleo or Keto are the culprits here. She's a mother and wife not a foodie millennial who follows people like Leanne Vogel or Maria Emmerich.

I went on a keto diet and in a period of 2 months slowly stopped all medicines there's no pain and no flare ups been 4 years now. Best exercise for me is tennis and stretching... and some weights with care.
How u doing now ?
@@magdnuh9295 perfectly fine. No pain only stiffness mostly in the mornings. Obviously a lot of damage has been done and you cannot reverse that because i was diagnosed in 2004. Sleep on the hard floor to keep my back straight.
Adnan h wish u all the best im just have symptomes from one month just have small joint issue in knees and hips , i will give it a try but this fats in keto dont make flareups ?
@@magdnuh9295 not at all fats are good for u. The science behind it is that our disease comes alive when the klebsiella bacteria multiplies in the colon. And it feeds on starch so when you stop eating starch then there is no disease basically.
Adnan h whats about animal protin and eggs is it going to make flareups ? Thanks
i get it & i go through the same thing , i put my pain and emotions aside because i have to remind myself others have it sooo much more worse but ultimately its sucks cause i dont get that moment to feel bad for myself =(
My wife has RA. Being in pain isn’t optional, if you have RA, you’ll be in pain. Your option is you can have RA and be weak, or have RA and be strong. You choose.
❤
Love your story. ❤❤❤❤ hope you are well
Now this was a good video to watch before work
Amazing , strong person. stay strong in mind, spirit and body.
if i get angry, i focus it and put it in the bar. it just works
Can I do heavy weights training during the days when i am not sore? Just got diagnosed with RA
not at all....only warmup exercises and yoga. till u r more comfortable. say after 2 months..
Rheumatoid Arthritis: The Infection Connection by Dr. Katherine Poehlmann - right here on UA-cam.
Ok if young. Not if your older. No barbell lifting. Dumbbells ok. Nothing if you have a flare up.
In the same boat now 29
Also im a nurse too
Figuring out if I'll be able to work like this
Last 2 years have been hard
You won't I'm from UK a truck driver I had to quit work e everything, I'm male. Osteoarthritis and mild at the moment rheumatoid. Good luck.
Exercise is good. Try to cut out sugar, carbs and dairy. Should reduce inflammation in the body. I had arthritis for years. Eat a lot of minerals.
Duh
and drink lots of water...u should sweat it out. u will find relief. Om shanti..💯🙏
I just got inspired to start working out. 😊👌
RESPECT
Amazing! Keep it up!
Just been diagnosed with RA.
How's it going Jacob? 14 years here
Keep fighting king
I really understand you.
Keep grinding you look good don't let it beat you ...... your smashing it
I cry too when I try to workout
Her daughters 12! I thought she was around 19-20
Can’t bend my arms. Sucks
Keep it up
Neat!
Convinced from the gecko
🦎
Shes destroyinnnng her joints lifting like that. Get off meds, get diet right(hardest part), let inflammation subside and then lift
Try the carnivore diet...you got nothing to lose
That is one of the worst ways of eating, bad advice. Balanced nutrition plan.
@@triton827have you even tried it?
What do you think her diet has been leading up to RA diagnosis?
See Robert Morse. He'll teach you out to let your body heal.
I hear ya. Sucks
