    This was very useful to hear. I do not come from a super technical background in the sense of enginneering like you but rather marketing and using software to optimize my life. I don't live to far away from Austin and didn't know you were in the area so I'd be open to meeting you in finding a job like this.

    Hey man, appreciate all the information. What is the best way to find tech startup companies? I'm in sales right now and looking to lateral into a tech sales role but not sure where to start looking?

    • @techsales-higherlevels

      LinkedIn is usually the most accurate and up to date. Once you find companies I would verify via repvue and glassdoor to see if they are good companies.

    Thank you so much for the information and content you share to us, I have watched most of your videos, and are very purposeful. Thanks for watching! I personally interact with folks that are mostly based in the US and Canada. I know most companies still typically hire candidates that live in the country they operate in.
      Do you know anyone in Uganda that is working for a tech company?

    Good focused topic. Are for 100% in-office, remote, or hybrid?

      If you're starting as an SDR I like in office, you'll learn way more that way in my opinion. Once you have a few years of experience, remote is fine.

    How important is an academic GPA for these companies listed?
    Do they accept GPA’s below a 3.0.

    • @techsales-higherlevels
      @techsales-higherlevels  Рік тому +1

      It is going to depend on the companies. A lot of the F500s usually require a 3.0 or higher, but once you have experience they don't care about academics. So if your GPA is lower I'd recommend trying to break in at a startup, get experience, then apply to a big company after ~2 years or so

    If the startup companies aren’t actively hiring on their website or LinkedIn, should I reach out and send cold emails to the recruiters and hiring manager?

    • @techsales-higherlevels
      @techsales-higherlevels  Рік тому

      You might do some that you're really interested just to get on their radar, however, most of your time is best spent on active openings. Maybe 5-10% of the time reach out to startups you're interested and spend the rest on active openings (if you're on a short term timeline).

    What's the best way to find these starup companies?

    • @techsales-higherlevels
      @techsales-higherlevels  Рік тому +2

      Use a site called repvue as a starting point. You can also Google the competitors of companies you know and see if they have good Financials, etc... you could also search for the best startups to work for, but don't take the lists at fave value and do your research with sites like repvue, etc...

      Solid places to be right now, no real bad options and there's man more on the list. (Although crowd strike notoriously doesn't treat their sales people well)

    • @techsales-higherlevels
      @techsales-higherlevels  4 місяці тому +1

      @@estebanperez4171 what's your alternative? Why would you turn it down?
      Nothing wrong with being nervous, it's understandable. But if you have an offer now, decline it, and change your mind in 6 months it is going to be difficult to get back to the position you are in right now.
      Let me know your thoughts

      @@techsales-higherlevels I was a BDR for about 2 years. Very up and down, never became a top performer. I became frustrated with the spray and pray strategies of the companies I was at. So much so that I applied to grad school, got in, and started classes 2 weeks ago. Little did I know I would get a call from a former mentor asking me if I would like to join his friend as a junior rep at this huge cyber security company. It’s more of a closing role and in a completely different sales model (working with partners and resellers). I think I’m gonna take it, if I was doing an MBA I’d likely stay in school but my program doesn’t open enough doors for me to pass this opportunity up. If I decide sales still isn’t for me hopefully I’ll have some solid experience at a very reputable company on my resume and will be in a better spot to apply for a true MBA.
