That Kibble home you could do a podcast about what went on there in the early 70s alone, the stories my 3 brothers used to tell me about what went on in there is nobody’s business, horrific.
I just wish more parents would get off their phones and take more interest in what their kids really get up to and maybe they might not go down the wrong road .
I’ll be letting my 13 year old grandson listen to this, hopefully that will deter him from ever getting into any crime and having a successful and happy life.

Hi Ian, I really enjoy your podcast. I used to be a screw in HMP Glenochil! 😂 I don’t miss the job, but learnt a lot about life and myself. As you know, in jail a screw and con can’t exactly be pals, but I met a lot of good cons and ultimately we are all human. It was just a job for me to provide for my 3 kids! Keep up the good work man, I really do enjoy it ❤️

You speak very well here. Hindsight is an educated perspective. Today’s youth are mental. They really need telt as jail seems to be too easy for them.
That's Appreciated Thanks. I Think there Needs to be more Focus on Prevention, Once in Prison It becomes a Fight for Survival& Sometimes to Late to Change. It's a Hard one as Youths don't like to be Told what to Do as I Didn't when I was Young. But You can Only try & Educate.
I lived in craigend in the 80s n played on tjat water ur on about called "the froggy" catching newts n tadpoles n that n playing games in the St am 43 now n I think the weans now miss out on alot on they bloody phones n screens brilliant childhood.. n there is no old skool older boys to teach the next generation young team the rules n respect n the way things should work... pure free for all now...changed days

I grew up in Glasgow (Barrhead) but moved to London 25 years ago and have never looked back. Great episode of your show, you talk from the heart which I respect.
I beleive knife crime will never go away.. there will always be someone unable to stop themselfs mentaly from picking one up in say ,anger..and inflicting damage. Then you will always get people in fear..who carry for some sort of personal protection.. mabye not the best fighters without so they carry. There are also the people who carry due to the fear of being "jumped" by another mob/gang.
Your absolutely Right mate Knive crime will Never go Away but if You Educate & Tell the Youth of the Pitfalls & Consequences of Their actions it might make a Difference to Some to not Carry them.

One time in 1984, my mates and I were dogging school, and we went into Glasgow to buy knives from the wee shop at the bottom of high Street, we got off at Queen Street, and walked down Buchanan St, from there we walked through argyle arcade, and as we walked through, some guy came running out a jewelers and ran like fuck, as he had just robbed it.

Serious question Ian regarding knife crime.. do you think our justice system being it sentencing too lienient or our jails being too soft ? If the sentence was longer and our prisons were absolute hell holes do you think we'd see reduction in these type of offences basically

You can’t punish someone into a better way of thinking. Prevention rather than punishment is what is needed. Getting locked up at night and depriving people of their liberty is a punishment when you have your own thoughts to sit with.
