Yes one should.. I love mine - Guards Red with PDK, Sports Chrono and PSE... understated elegance and speed...
No such thing as "just a base 911," that's for sure. Base 997.2 is just as fast as a 997.1S and even more reliable. So, yes... manual or PDK.... YES you should buy a base 997.2.
I had a Base 997.1 Carrera S with sports exhaust, sports chrono and Bose, and few other bits. Changed it for a Base 718 Cayman S with Bose, 20 inch alloys, Adaptive Chassis Control, Manual, extended leather, sports exhaust and sports chrono. Both ok for base manual cars with some additional base options.
I’ve got a black 997.2 manual. My wife and I have driven it all over the UK, used it to move house and even as a wedding car! It is so perfectly suited for the UK. I hope to never sell it.
Awesome to hear they indeed are the best all rounder cars, practical, excellent performance, handles like a dream and one is never tired of driving it 😊
How does your Wife find the pressure of the clutch pedal ? I’ve heard it’s a bit stiff
@@GRACEORT it’s certainly not the softest clutch pedal in the world, but I wouldn’t say it’s unreasonable. In her own words: “I’m so used to it that I don’t really think about it!”
@@IndianaJono sounds a reasonable balance to me then. Thinking of buying a 997.2 in the New Year, preferably a manual
@@GRACEORT go for it! :)
Brother…..your video alone….after I’ve watched so damned many similar videos….has me on the verge of “pulling the trigger” and buying a 997.2 911. I’m in my late 60s now…but when I turned 50 the same year I was promoted to Navy O6 (Captain), I bought another dream: a very low mileage 944S2 Cabriolet, in Baltic Blue, with full “white linen” interior. I still have her, with only a hair over 60K on the clock. I think I could get $20k for her, sell my Tacoma truck…and with some other cash, pay cash for the right 911. Bravo-Zulu, we’ll done. Thank you so much!
Thank you for the comment brother. Go for it and you will not regret it. The 944 sounds great and you will like the 997 even more I’m confident.
I’m in my late 60’s too, and just pulled the trigger on a 997.2 Targa 4S. So excited. Delivery in a week. Thanks for your videos.
Very happy with my 996.1, been a fun, reliable car for some time now, but must admit lusting for this exact car.... with s manual..
Just beautiful. Great review, thanks for sharing
Thank you for feedback. A sorted 996.1 is a lot of fun
No IMS worry, as fast as a 997.1S, of course a 997.2 is worth it. It's why I got a Carrara white PDK 997.2 4 years ago and still have it. Brilliant, beautiful and reliable car.
would you be interested in selling it?
@@nikollajjj I'm living in Ireland. Imported the car from Amersham outside London a few years ago. Sorry.
But I guess everyone has a point of when they'd consider selling. I guess if I was made an offer I couldn't refuse.... ;-)
I bought a 2012 C4 Cabriolet 997.2 with the 3.6 direct fuel injection and it's the wide body last March and it's been a great reliable car, low mileage. FYI, the C2 is not a wide body. I hope I made a good investment purchasing this car.
I forgot to mention that it also has the chrono package, love the sport and sport + on it, launch mode is awesome!
That’s an awesome spec and you have made a great choice.
Sports exhaust is essential. Base is perfect. Nice and slim. Lightweight as it doesn’t have the bigger engine and 4 wheel drive system and wide hips. Performance is basically same as the S and if you want the better gear mapping it’s a cheap upgrade. Classy. I don’t like wings and aero on a road car and I’m not looking for lap records on my track use. It’s like skiing you don’t have to be good to enjoy it. The grip is really really good. Good set of MPSC2s and some big breaks is all you need.
You have summed up a perfect car for a purist. Someone that will get max reward from their car. What do you drive?
@@InvictusMotors 997.2 base forgot to mention the last NA engine too, no steer by wire too. It’s fantastic.
997.2 last of the best
For sure they are and wonderful in every department ❤️
The C2S model is the same shell as the C2. It is not wider.
Agreed thank you for the correction 👍
997.2 DFI still experience bore scoring, not as many as 997.1 but some nonetheless
An absolute beauty!
Which model had the wide Body and how many gearbox options were fitted to the 997 gen 1 or 2 ?
The Carrera 4s is widebody. And you had manual and pdk for Gen 2 and tip tronic for Gen 1 alongside manual.
want one
Very attractive I love the Porsche
Looking good sir
The car ain’t bad either
What is the color of this car? GT silver?
I think this is Arctic Silver, which is a little bit lighter.
Love it!
Thanks!!
All sales talk.... but yes, it's a great car!
We agree on some things at least :)
