  • Me on my Cannondale, my non-mountain biking son following with the helmet mounted GoPro so I took it a little slower than usual. He is riding a Diamondback 4C. The Cannondale worked amazingly well. This trail does not have any big obstacles or jumps so it was perfect!

The excellence in engineering, design and manufacturing of these bikes make them my #1 bicycles for ever. Although in some views there are shocks that have greater travels, the 2.5 cm travel of mine is optimal in terms of energy conservation, confort and riding experience. After nearly 30 years of service, I needed to replace the leaky O-rings of the shocks, and refill them again, and make many more minor repairs. As a result, my bike still rides like new. IMHO, those bikes are classics and I kindly advice not to alter their originality. The beauty of the needle bearings, the precision they offer belong to unfortunate bygone golden era of the bikes that you won't be able find these in never bikes. Cheers.

Just got my hands on a superv2000 from the late 90s. Always wante done years ago, now I have one, am slowly fixing it up. For FS these bikes are very light.

How about a post ride impression and maybe compare to your newer bikes. What you liked and if you would have done anything different. Nice trails.

Thanks for the feedback. The bike worked great on this trail. I can ride it just as fast as my newer bikes and the 26" tires make it feel real nimble. I've ridden it in twisty, tight singletrack and in those places it is faster than my other bikes due to the tighter geometry and smaller tires. When the downhills get rough, my newer bikes perform better and much more stable. You can still see how I pull away from my son when the bike gets rolling (that's why most of the footage is flat or climbing), but he only rides occasionally. He is now using the bike as his commuter in college and interestingly enough, he has become more interested in mountain biking now. We rode 7 miles that day.

Ive been riding my Super V for 18 years, The frame is a large and fits me so well, i cant imagine going to another bike after all this time,
Have you Or are you doing any drivetrain upgrades and etc? If so could you do a video?

I made a series of videos leading up to this ride. I took it apart completely and serviced the pivots. I ended up making it a 1 x 9 drivetrain. It rides great and is perfect for XC. I used to think the same as you about my Super V but I have to admit that my Diamondback 4c is in another league .though.

Tony's Hobbies When you went to the 1x9 set up did you use the front sprocket chain stay thingamajigs, To keep the chain on? I'm thinking of a 2x10 system, I don't think one ft gear would do it for my riding.

I used a narrow-wide chainring and no problems with chain drops

Raj Gill I never found a good replacement for the rear shock. The updated Rock Shox works well in the front, much better than the original Headshock.

What would you say a super v with Rock Shox is worth?

@@beauburgess770 I think they still hold some value for the anesthetics. I think they're around $6-$700 on ebay jts worth taking a look online before throwing money
