    I too have fallen victim to the "clip it off and create an even worse cavern"...never again!!! Thank you so much for this very simple solution.

    Best advice ever for this problem. I have been in a cycle of clipping for years. No more! Thank you I see smooth fingers in my future.

    I get these a lot. I didn't think of this method, I just thought of removing the skin but this would cause it to become sore and also work it's way towards the bottom of the nail. Glad I found this video.

    I've been using this method for years. As far as this painful cracks go, I worked for a dermatologist for years and she told be to use a clear glue on them, I.e. Krazy Glue, Super Glue etc. You can also use nail glue. It helps heal faster and even stops the pain associated with the cracked and split skin.

    I really have a problem with this too. I have used this method but I must add to sterilize before and after you do it. If it gets sore..........then you have an infection. I usually used bacterial wipes.

    After, use Curel, they have a formula for cuticles and it lasts after several washes :-)

    I do the same thing, and after I file that rough skin, I wash my hands and slather cuticle oil all over my hands and rub it in. Voila! The next day, baby soft hands again!

    I use cuticle remover which leaves the skin soft around the entire nail. Maybe you would like to try this and then moisturize.

    • @AnnasNailArtBeautyTravel
      @AnnasNailArtBeautyTravel  10 років тому

      I have tried all the cuticle removers out there none work . This method works best for me. thanks for the tip. Maybe I will find a cuticle remover at some point that will work better than the file method I show till than I will stick to the file ;)

    Anna, my index nail has a thicken skin on the side of the nail plate because I foolishly cut or bit it a few months ago. I keep cutting every time it gets hard, and now it is very thick and start splitting the skin with the nail.
    I tried your way to file the thicken skin about 2 times, and noticed it still grew hard.
    Do you know any tip to make the hard skin soften and turn back to normal again?
    Thanks!

    • @AnnasNailArtBeautyTravel
      @AnnasNailArtBeautyTravel  9 років тому +2

      unfortunately dry thick skin reproduces, a good moisturizer or vitamin e oil will help and the file technique you see in my video but you can't get rid of it . Exfoliators also help to keep things at bay. Cuticle softeners like sally Hansen those are good.

    • @naomietran6287
      @naomietran6287 9 років тому

      oh I only tried the abrasive board on the hard skin but not the smoothing board, so Im not sure if it works better or not.

      Naomie Tran another factor that can also make cuticles worse is the climate.. they get worse during the winter time and better during the summer because you get more sun .

    • @naomietran6287
      @naomietran6287 9 років тому

      ***** yes, you are right. I bought Bliss Kiss cuticle oil, which has natural ingredients, for that troublesome nail and other ones with dry cuticle 2 weeks ago. I use it everyday and most of my cuticles are still dry. I think the cold weather does affect my cuticles.

    great, but what if the cuticle is hard on the upper side ? i have that with 1 finger and omg its been months !

    • @AnnasNailArtBeautyTravel
      @AnnasNailArtBeautyTravel  10 років тому +1

      for hard cuticles around the lunula I usually use my cuticle nipper but if you are worried that using it will cause bleeding than DON"T . Use cuticle removing creams you can find some good ones at sally beauty even walmart. Moisturizing is key here too and during winter months all our hands suffer more and so does the skin.
