- We don’t want to alarm anyone but we might be seeing CS2’s first actual ban wave. Like one where actual rage hackers are finally getting hit by VAC.
In some instances, almost entire hvh lobbies are getting banned. This looks huge. There’s a lot of confusion about what's actually happening - so here’s everything we know so far...

It's more like ragehackers and the blatant ones are getting banned in droves, but the more subtles ones aint getting affected rn at all

Vacnet isn't fully in the game yet. But the prospects from this is very good so far from what they have added + overwatch.
Let valve cook dude. Cheaters still get by in Valorant, some of which have been cheating at the highest level since release. Stop complaining when there are a few getting through, the point is mitigation, cheaters will always exist.

Just played a game against a blatant rage cheater. Nothing happened KEKW
@@XxDynamix several years ago when I played a comp match I got in a team with a hacker and I didn't know about it as I'm a solo que player. After 2 days I got a notification when I opened the game that I've been given a temporary comp cooldown because I was in a team with a hacker like what I could have done ?

this is just few example, there has nothing changed in my mm or wingman games so far...
I got a spinbot in a deathmatch game a few days ago, they got kicked from the game within 5 minutes, but the chat message said something about “incorrect VAC environment” instead of “VAC banned”
As a developer I know what this is...
This was a List Ban Wave
Recently a lot of sold/botted accounts have been "leaked" and thus they just went down the list and banned all of them...
This is not uncommon and very much automated by a macro just going down the list...
The same stuff happens all the time but usually its combined with full Banwaves to not show how they did it...
90% of the cheaters and suspects I have demos for are +5yr accounts with 3 badges and 5 commends. Yet at less than 200hr they stop 2000hr 5 stacks. Yes, must be legit before watching the demo. After that … Volve power.
@AB-cg9np I came across a wall hacker yesterday with better crosshair placement than zywoo according to leetify... his account had 50hrs on cs2, 30hrs on cs source 😂 had our team in voice chat laughing like "oh dont worry guys he's an OG he played source he's legit" 😂😂😂
At least this ban wave is a step in the right direction though can't even be that mad

I'm convinced Valve has been letting cheaters go rampant for a few months on purpose whilst recording the data/training their cheater detecting AI and such.
I'm fairly confident they will just flip a switch one day when the new system is ready and hundreds of thousands if not millions of cheaters will get banned and continue getting banned.
IMO the AI based anti-cheat is the end-game.
Any other theory doesn't really make sense as they are not dumb and I'm sure they wouldn't let cheaters go this hard for this long for no reason.
I'm fairly confident it's all part of a bigger plan.

To every single person who decides to use the word "cope" in their reply: Please tell us an alternative explanation for what's been going on. I legit don't see any other than what I wrote above, but I'm eager to hear any plausible alternatives instead of just seeing boring old and re-hashed "COPE" comments that bring literally nothing to the discussion.

I would mention the absolute state of TF2 but that game is a decade old and CS2 is a new and fresh project, there's no way they'd give it the same treatment
Just wanted to add some nuance to what you're saying here about AI anticheat. You say its "the endgame" but the reality of AI is more limited than that unfortunately.
Adversarial examples are going to be a big concern with AI anticheat. Basically, adversarial examples are when you make a slight change to the input of a model to make it misclassify said input. For more info, I'd reccomend checking out the paper "Practical Black-Box Attacks against Machine Learning" (you can find it for free on google).
Because of issues like this, its unlikely that AI anticheat will be a foolproof system for catching cheaters.
However, I do think it will make making cheats that aren't trivially detectable substantially harder. This means that the various remaining cheaters could be better dealt with through a system like overwatch.

Just played last night and 2 of my teammates were blatantly hacking. Spinbotting, Wallhacking, Aimbotting, you name it, they had it. We ended the game 13-0 and they never got banned.
I didnt know Hack vs Hack was such a big thing.
Its a blessing "most" were isolated from normal games.
once u reach 19-20k this is all u see.. i quit premier for this reason. they were either blatant cheating or "soft cheating" usually after 20-21k its blatant
Gave Premiere (~20k elo) a try today, after hearing about the update of VAC. First game got a rage hacker on the enemy team, was a pretty quick one but gave it another shot, couldve been bad luck right? 2nd Game, 3 blatant wallhackers on the enemy team, one in our team. I watched the demo afterwards and 20k+ Elo seems to be riddled with low level (literally silver looking) players, that just cheat and are still beatable sometimes, because their understanding of the game is so bad. I don't know why someone would ever want to play this game seriously when not playing FaceIt.

Usually, a game's anticheat is judged by if it allows any cheaters to play. With VAC, it's if *stops* any cheaters from playing.
Okay sure I know i'm bad too but do you think they should reset rating for all the games that have been effected/lost due to blatant cheating? In csgo I was Gold Nova 2 and now i'm around 6k when I feel like perhaps I could realistically be around 8/9K
im going through my stats on a website rn and looking for vac bans in my game and somehow found a dude who was banned from OVERWATCH 36 days ago. have they been using overwatch on their own and banning people?
Cool they got rid of some hackers. The cycle of always playing against a cheater will remain in CS
In the CS 1.6 era, if you played way too good then the admin of the server would force your game to take screenshots, then the admin would ban you, then you needed to go to a forum and post the screenshots. The screenshots would contain everything you see on the screen. Maybe Valve is taking screenshots and sends them to their server and then they analyze the pictures.
I remember an admin could open the dvd writer tray to anyone he wanted from the server, which sounds insane and... insecure if you ask me.
I really wished they'd bring this back, as an admin during 1.6 days this was such a useful tool, I banned so many cheaters because of it. The moment you get suspicious of someone or someone reports a person this tool would either guarantee a ban or nothing happens.
"best" anti cheat was on cod4.. each server had admins who were responsible to keep the servers safety ... there was a cmd that would take a screenshot from the player's POV and would show what he sees (without the player's knowledge) .. ez bans

I'm not a Volvo sausage gang but I have a theory. I think Volvo is the only company that wanted a working Anti-Cheat without kernel access. I think they wanted to make an experiment on their AI but failed. So they brought Overwatch so the AI can learn on someone more experienced player review demos on this matter. Heck maybe one day we will have a server based Anti Cheat instead of Anti Cheat installed directly into our PC. If that is a thing, it would be awesome. I mean imagine Like Source game is a really moddable game, Mod the game for custom content but if a server wants to use stock "e-sport oriented" item, it blocks the mod. It's like CS2 and Team Fortress 2 but you can play GMod Sandbox Mods in the same game. The chances are extremely small but it wasn't possible.
And for this noninvasive approach, I respect them infinitely.
Yesterday I played premier with 2 wh cheaters. I think only players with obvious and stupid cheats are getting banned. I hope vac is going to be better.
Without root access that’s not possible.

@@quarksarrangedit is. All you need to completely get rid of aimbot and triggerbot is stuff you have server-side already. And then there will be overwatch for wallhackers.

@@ducky1681 overwatch is only for obvious cheaters in general. Including wallhackers. You can not determine wallhacks if someone is right 7 or 8 out of 10 times with his rotations. If they do not track enemies like dummies, they still are free to go even with the overwatch as long as VAC does not work.

Could be that once CS2 launched, there was always some kind of VAC Detection running in the background just to gather data on players. And now once enough data have been collected, the accounts are getting terminated. And it might be how it's gonna work with VAC i guess.

21k elo here, played 2 matches rn and queued aganist 5 rage hackers, no one spinbotted, but still unplayable.
its a LONG stretch but AI anticheat requires time to analyze someones gameplay and even pattern recognitions to spot the same player on another account for when they try and come back, in order for it to get that data, valve may have just allowed them to go wild to get to a point where they could confidently say that it had a high enough accuracy in recognition that it would be ready for role out, from blatant rage hackers to closet cheaters, to even command abusers. probably a long stretch, but if it was a thing, it could be huge.
when i come across a hacker i save they're steam profile link in a notepad, i have over 50 and not 1 is banned and this is over 4 months
If the bans arent happening at the very beginning of the match when they are detected, its likely they are doing it this way to make it a lot harder to find out what set off the abticheat to ban the players. If that's whats going on, its genius because itll take a lot longer to test and fix the problem causing the detection
i have 100 demos saved up of rage hackers and quickly scrolled through them and i found 1 vac 6 days ago. most of these accounts don't even seem active anymore though it's so weird. these people can't win legit and they cant win hvh so they end up quitting the game all together is my guess.

sadly this is just a detection for the most popular HvH cheat. This means that if the cheat dev updates the cheat it is undetected again. Cheats that aim to be on the legit side are still out there and undetected. The most popular legit cheat is still undetected for example. Its a huge win yes but that doesnt mean that vac got better just that the cheat devs got sloppy and released an update that wasnt quite up to the standart.
Yeah, went in, tried. 20 games, everyone had cheaters. No one got banned. I mean, it's still nice that some got banned, but..... still not what we need.
Can't wait to see that jersey in October.
Now if only they'd do this with Team Fortress 2...

I experienced VAC working last game
Not working anymore. Blatant cheaters 3 matches in a row on my side and on enemy side, zero match cancellation or bans.
If they just made is such that if a team is detected to have a hacker on a team, that team should not get any + RP points and the opposite team should get a default + points, this will literally put a huge dent in hackers community as many people use hackers to boost their account and this will enforce people to kick hackers out of their team.(some tweaks to this are necessary but something along these lines will surely help)
Ive started AFKing soon as i spot cheats. 2 games in, 32 AFK rounds, and the cheaters leave. Has been quite effective.

They started working on CS2 Anticheat after they released Dota2 HUUGE event, i think it's reasonable to think that they were working on different things
It’s possible that the reason the matches aren’t cancelled when the cheaters are banned, is because them terminating the match could make harder to ban the other cheaters. It’s not like the hvh servers only have one cheater, and instead just reinstate the canceling matches feature later
Vac live should have a feature where if you report someone in an ongoing match, someone could immediately get an overwatch case of that live match. It would be sick to ban these punks while the match is still ongoing

i haven't seen cheater in my game for 3 days now thats a new record blatantly yes but wallhack and silent aiming is still present but those are harder to detect

ive only ever got spinbotted maybe once or twice(once in comp the other in casual) tbh that doesnt bother me as much as getting walled on. at least when you get spinbotted you can just take your hands off your kbm and not try. but getting walled means youve been actively trying to win while they have an advantage

Yeaaahhh after checking the ban tracker it was literally JUST April 27th, and bans are back down to 1/2 a day. Shits not fixed yet lmao
all of the videos covering this topic literally said that these are shadow bans and isnt traceable with Steam's API, its literally mentioned and shown in the video at 1:26, Is watching and listening really that hard.

Uh yeah that's normal. Cheat devs are obviously going to put out updates as soon as massive vac waves happen. This shouldn't be surprising. Unexpected bans like this make it difficult for cheat devs to detect why bans are happening.
@@vashSJ Then you also haven't seen the ban tracker, because on the 27th there indeed WAS a large spike in VAC and GAME bans. Also I I wasn't negating what the video said. All I stated was that it was a SMALL wave the DAY of the update. So is reading really that hard?

I played a premier match yesterday, topfragged, was destroying them. The enemy guys thought I was cheating, so one of them turned on ragebot at 11 9. Afterwards, we lost 11 13, obviously. Amazing game!

Yesterday I had 4 legit matches in a row, so i thought vac live would really work just to get 2 3 cheater games in one of them at least 4 ppl cheated obv
I played 3 matches today, i met 7 cheaters... SEVEN CHEATERS. Matches in 18-20k elo are still fill with cheaters

meanwhile in south east asia server are literally unplayable even at low elo.. chinese , indian , ph , indo , sometimes russian.. fking hell i can't play a single game every single game has cheaters..

no we are not, all p2c were based on 1 guy that got detected, and they already found a way to circumvent it.

I got the best revenge. I played against some loser in Que with 2 spin botters. He had an inventory with knives etc. he thought he was untouchable and boom. He wasn’t even cheating but got vac banned for playing with 2 cheaters malicious activity
So valve decided to work with it right after the biggest names in the community left the game?

i played my first cs2 premier match yesterday after 3 month. got cheated by a 47 kill wallhacking new account who prefired you everywhere you stood. uninstalled again.
I played 10 games yesterday and haven't seen a single cheater. Maybe it's a skill issue?

Why can valve create an app like riot's anti cheat " vanguard " or like face it's anticheat, that has access to our pc.
Maybe Valve just turned VAC off so that when they turned it back on we would thank them for at least bringing CS2 to CSGO levels of cheaters.
Or they just didn't notice the VAC machine was accidentaly unplugged for the last 8 months.
